So glad to see beans are in ground after all the preparation. Lets hope for dry sunny harvesting conditions. Very good "waffle" about Sugar Beet seed dressing and bigger picture. PX farms has similar point with OSR and flea beetle.
Good to see all the beans planted keep up the good work of telling people why farmers do what we do my father now 90 still farming got a passion for fert spreading and spraying and can't understand why general public thinks farmers kill everything !
What a brilliant update! All of the measurements and technical considerations when planting, it’s absolutely baffling, so complex. Lovely to see you and Nala having a bit of down time in front of the TV, with the mower and the goslings in the background, a lovely place to live!
A great update Andrew, and pleased you got the beans all sown well done to Tom & Ruben . Will be nice to see some decent weather, its now raining here again near Bury st Edmunds .
Good explanation of the neonick's and how it protects the plant for 8 weeks!! Did alot of seeding in oz years ago in my youth trying to keep up with sprayer with pre emerge, no working clock in the tractor and thought later into the night it was coming light!! Ended up doing a 24 hr shift!! 😂These days I wake up just in time for a snooze!!! Thanks Andrew!!
Morning Andrew. Cracking update again and glad you’ve got the baked beans in, it’s also good to highlight the reason for treated seed and spray open peoples eyes a bit. Keep the good videos coming. 😊
Enjoyed this one chap. I get the feeling that we might see a few beans down here in East Anglia at some point. Looks like you may have had some storms again today. We did around Ely but i took the pressent Mrs M for a drive over to Felixstowe Ferry for some lunch and a walk to get some sea air. It was a gorgeous day. Tragic about the pilot that died yesterday at Coningsby. Not far from you i suppose.
We blocked every other spout on our moor a few years ago drilling sweeds but when you think about it all your really doing is placing twice as many seeds in half as many rows, when you look at your video coming into land at Luton you can see we actually still have a good mix of different crops grass and trees hedges and woodland, thanks for another interesting vid Andrew
It infuriates me as a lay person when i hear from farmers about not being able to use one product or another to best manage THEIR fields to provide US with home grown food…. Surely farmers aren’t going to spend money and waste diesel applying chemicals for fun and only do what’s best to grow the best crops with the best yield… Why the government gets involved with this is such an overreach….
Very interesting Andrew, as a little birdie recently said to me ' You don't ' just' drive the machine, there's alot more to it,' it's nice to see this on your video. Absolutely love the footage of the geese so close to your house too, thankyou.
Good evening Andrew. Glad to see you've managed to get the beans in and finished, it's one of those seasons when the weather allows it's a mad scramble to get things done. Like at my place, it might not be 100% perfect, but at least its in the ground and it's now down to mother nature to look after things. It'll be interesting to see what difference there is between the Amazone precision drill and you're drill when the crop emerges and goes through the growth stages? Just wanted to touch on what you said about insecticides. I couldn't agree more, using chemicals that are targeted directly around the plant or within the plant is 100% better than a carpet spraying program. We're the ones doing the job, we're the ones farming so surely we generally know what's best. Fingers crossed for some sunnier weather and a little bit less rain for us all. It felt like a winters day down here in Cornwall today.
Some thing that might be of interest, you can get a small ram you could connect into the 3rd service on the telehandler to open and close the shutter for filling. No one near or under it then. Also available is a 12v cylinder with remote.
Wheels / tyres on mole drainer thought they would have been flotation tyres Sugar beet looking well memories of years past striking out rows of beet then singling them on hands and knees and side hoeing every week to control weeds
Great to see how modern technology eg lawn mower and nature can live by each other, learned something today with sugar beet and the covering of seed with insecticide, such beneficial to ground crops, i heard you mention that not allowed on flowering crops, would that include wheats? Glad you got all your seeds in for baked beans i have gone back to re watch about harvest of beans, great blog
Fat Hen seedlings. How old would the seed have been? How long sitting in the ground? When did you last see Fat Hen growing in that field? It's a pity we can't eat weeds; sorry, companion plants How long can Black Grass and Wild Oat seed stay viable? With Wild Oats is it 10+ years? I can't remember. Too long maybe? It'll be very interesting to see how the beans do. All very interesting. Thanks. P
Thanks for another fantastic update will be good to see when the beans come through. Do you think they will allow the chemical coating back on oilseed rape seed to help establishment so the crop can get up and away from the flea beatles Thanks again looking forward to the next update 👍 😊
If you watched the cup final you missed the European rugby cup final between Tolouse and Leinster. What a game , The commitment that those boys put in was immense. Soccer is like chess on grass played by people with a funny sense of balance
Good vid as always, thanks Andrew. Rauch/Kuhn have started making mounted Aeros again, up to 32 metres, have you had a look at one? I’ve heard a 24m is £90k 😳
You must of missed it when I was explaining it but don’t worry, if you look at update 186 from last harvest, that’ll explain it. Any questions, please come back. 👍😊
Do you think the beans will go on a slice of bread the two chefs are making for cereals, might need a chainsaw and it could be a bit green by the time the beans are ready

You thought it was just a case of chucking a few seeds in the ground?!!!
Can’t beat a bit of footy!
A great update Andrew, and pleased you got the beans all sown well done to Tom & Ruben . Will be nice to see some decent weather, its now raining here again near Bury st Edmunds .
We’ve had too much lately and after tomorrow, there’s even more.

A great Sunday video Andrew, I hope to be eating your baked beans at sometime in the future.

Another great update you have two good workers in Tom and Ruben good staff are worth their weight in gold
Thank you, yes, we’re lucky. Both being farmers sons helps!

Down time is so important. No, the crash was about 25 mins from me, really sad.
Great Video Wardy, thanks for showing us around the beans and the beet, it was interesting
Pleasure.

Hello! Like the mammal, the mole plough creates more efficient tunnels that last longer.

Well said, the regs we have to follow are unreal.

Perfect conditions for the beans, hopefully they should soon be through.
Great update andrew , mole plough should sort drainage out, great you got the beans in hopefully be up and away soon.
👍😊
Good morning Andrew great updates about the drilling machines
Hello Nigel, pleased you enjoyed the update.
It's interesting follow yuor bean seeding and later the result of it. Your's update are always well done.
Thankyou.
Some thing that might be of interest, you can get a small ram you could connect into the 3rd service on the telehandler to open and close the shutter for filling. No one near or under it then. Also available is a 12v cylinder with remote.
Thank you, I have seen those.
Interesting and informative - wish you well with the capulet beans, the nations waiting in anticipation! Cold wet May plenty of corn and hay! Thanks.
😂😂
The black beetle is at the top of their food chain, and is a sign of soil health.Plenty of beetles =very good soil microbiology
didn't know that, that's really interesting.
Wheels / tyres on mole drainer thought they would have been flotation tyres Sugar beet looking well memories of years past striking out rows of beet then singling them on hands and knees and side hoeing every week to control weeds
You’ll soon see what the wheels are like. 😊
Great video, great to see beans planted
Glad you got the beans in Andrew, I hope we have a good summer so you get a decent yield.
Thank you, it’ll be all on here!
Great informative video as always, 👍
Nice to see the baked beans going in the ground.
Maybe you could get one of those agricultural drone contractors in to spray the wet patches.
👌😊
Thank you for another interesting update Andrew.

Yes, inc wheat,
Mole plough,,, i guess because it goes along underground like a mole😮
But plough? It doesn’t turn the soil over and bury rubbish? Mole drainer yes!!
Very informative as always . Could you explain the sowing of black oats with the beans ? Perhaps I have misunderstood something .
If you watch farm update 140 this may help.
Thank you, beat me to it! I’ve also explained it in recent weeks I think.

We get get hen in most fields every year! Blackgrass people say is 7 years but I think it’s longer.
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard I think you're right about Blackgrass. Survivors huh? P.
Thanks for another fantastic update will be good to see when the beans come through. Do you think they will allow the chemical coating back on oilseed rape seed to help establishment so the crop can get up and away from the flea beatles Thanks again looking forward to the next update 👍 😊
The neonic ban on Osr is here for good I’m afraid.
Is that the same coating that used to be on oil seed rape?
Yes
If you watched the cup final you missed the European rugby cup final between Tolouse and Leinster. What a game , The commitment that those boys put in was immense. Soccer is like chess on grass played by people with a funny sense of balance
I think there’s a lot of things football should take from rugby. How they monitor time for one.
Good vid as always, thanks Andrew.
Rauch/Kuhn have started making mounted Aeros again, up to 32 metres, have you had a look at one? I’ve heard a 24m is £90k 😳
I see they are starting making them again but with us using liquid, we don’t have need for a spreader. The one we have will do us for what we need.
Is that robot mower narrow enough to go between beet rows…
Now there’s an idea!
How much rain did you get Andrew. We got 73 mm in 36 hrs in Ormskirk SW Lancs. Nightmare spraying emerging potatoes this morning!,,
24mm
Why do you sow naked oats with the beans?
You must of missed it when I was explaining it but don’t worry, if you look at update 186 from last harvest, that’ll explain it. Any questions, please come back. 👍😊
great stuff andrew when can i order a tin of wardys beans
Not for a year or so, we’re trying to build up seed stocks first.
Is this year seeing an increase on bean acreage?
On our farm or nationally?
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard on your farm.
Yes, 13 last year, 152 this. But that’s these Capulet beans, we won’t grow ordinary beans any more.
Hope ur a united fan.does mole drainers not smeer the sides to much
Not really but it’s the smearing of the soil deep down which helps form the drainage channel.
Do you think the beans will go on a slice of bread the two chefs are making for cereals, might need a chainsaw and it could be a bit green by the time the beans are ready
The 2 chefs!!! That’s one word I would use to describe my mates Olly and Martin!! 😂
Ive asked Martin if they are hoping to get a Michelin star for the loaf
😂😂😂
😂 don’t you have any worms Wardy!😂 if you have you would know what a mole was !
😂😂 It’s the word plough that confuses me, not mole!!
You could at least have laughed when you said "I don't know why it's called a Mole Plough" 😹😹😹
😂😂😂🤦♂️
Hi new subscriber great video Try East Fleet Farm lovely site over looking Chesil beach weymouth also Monkton wyld at Charmouth
Thanks Paul. 👍
Forgot trying to explain to our American friends just let them work it out they don’t help us watch their stuff
Because they make tunnels underground like moles do..
Yes but plough? They turn the soil over, a mole plough doesn’t. 🤷♂️
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard yes exactly
Have you had any dealings with PX farms Andrew?? They are getting busy on here!!👏👌👍
I know James very well. His cousin is marrying my daughter!
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard thought you'd know them alright 👍 🙂 kick 1 and they all limp lol
@andrewwoodhead8305 😂😂 It’s his agronomist Michael. He’s also mine! Keep it in the family and all that!!

@andrewwoodhead8305 😂😂😂👍
You gave us a big buildup on the forthcoming rain at midnight and then never told us how much you had. It would be interesting to know ?
Sorry, I thought I’d mentioned it. It was 24mm.
