  • Since I started turkey hunting years ago I always wondered why so many people didn't take the thighs, legs, and wings of the bird. I think it's just something that is passed down from generation to generation. It's like how by grandfather hated northern pike, and then all my uncles hated them, and come to find out, they are damn good eating. People need to ask themselves "Why?". I'm a believer in "don't knock it until you try it" as well as what my daughter says, "don't yuck my yum". Sure, the thighs, legs, and wings can be tough as a stand alone, but it's nothing some slow cooking can't handle. This recipe is based off of Hank Shaw's (the man, myth, legend) with some personal tweaking. The taste and the specific dish is up to you and your taste buds, but the process will render you a pile of goodness that you can do just about anything that calls for shredded meat.
