When I saw 'Humbly super famous' now about a month ago, what stuck with me most is how gracious Mr. Wilson is. Especially the part where his daughter got so emotional about the fact he has never snapped at anyone, despite everything. Thankfully he's surrounded by good people that tell him how good his work is :) Thanks for the podcast!

Such a great episode. Had never listened to Tom speak before and really hadn't watched the Back to the Future franchise growing up. Great stuff.

    Dear JAT,
Peace and deep respect to you...🙏 I am a new fan of yours, as I've only just recently discovered your amazing voice by coming late to the Clone Wars (since January 2024)...
To be honest, I was skeptical at first that I would even _like_ the Clone Wars (as a 52 year old woman), but I gave it a try, and it was your incredible voice as Obi Wan that made me stick with it, in the beginning! I was instantly blown away by how like Ewan McGregor's Obi Wan your voice was. And then, I loved how you brought the character of Obi Wan to life so completely, throughout the Clone Wars series, and made him your own creation. I've now watched all the seasons except the very last one, and thanks to you, I have absolutely LOVED this series! With just 25 more episodes to go, I'm nearly there now! I was a mild Obi Wan fan before, but you have turned me into a passionate Obi Wan fan now!😊
You have one of the BEST English accents of any American actor I know of, including most Hollywood stars. I am a British ex-pat who has lived in the US for 28 years now, and I can usually tell, by certain subtleties, when I'm hearing a non-native English accent. But yours, as Obi Wan, is amazingly spot on! It actually makes me feel nostalgic for home! Thank you for treating this English accent with such reverence and love!🙏😊
Having now subscribed to your UA-cam channel, I have now watched many videos of your _vast_ array of work, and I am now even _more_ floored by your talent, not just as a voice actor, but as a true _master_ of voices. I am a relative newcomer to your channel and podcast, but I'm enjoying all of your content immensely so far!😊
You have an incredibly musical ear. I'm a professional musician and trained singer (who also teaches singing and vocal techniques) and I instantly recognized that your voice matching/doubling is akin to musicians with superior aural skills, who can memorize and sing back notes, phrases and melodies, after only a couple of listenings. You listen closely to the pitch, timber, rhythm and phrasing of each voice and accent and you match it expertly, with perfection. (Though I think matching _speaking_ voices the way you do is far more difficult than singing back a melody! Yours is a truly incredible skill!)
I also admire your dedication to your career, your calling, your life and your genuine encouragement to others, especially those around you. Your kindness and generosity of spirit, to your friends, co-workers and fans, is so heartwarming to see.
I wish you nothing but the best in whatever you do. Your energy, talents, creativity and spirit are bringing so much happiness and positivity to the world. Thank you for all you do, and for sharing it all with us!🙏
    With warmest wishes,
    --Toria Burrell-Hrencecin.

@@JATactor Oh my goodness! Wow. Thank you so much for replying, and for your very sweet, warm welcome!💕 It really goes to show how generous you are with your time that you even acknowledged my comment. I am honored! And you are so very welcome!🙏 I've listened to more of your podcast now, and, in addition to all the fun, entertaining stuff, I'm really struck by how open, honest and vulnerable you allow yourself to be at times, in sharing your feelings, spirituality, and personal stories about your life. It is very refreshing and inspiring! I'm sure many of your listeners are as touched as I am, and can relate to both your joys and your struggles. Know that in sharing all this, you are inspiring others to be more honest and kind to each other, and spreading real hope for humanity... And you are admired and loved even more.💖

That was a great episode. Never thought I would ever listened to someone like Tom Wilson speak on here before. Though I'll grant that James has mentioned him quite a bit during the show. But now, this is getting really interesting.

Great episode as always! The interview with Tom Wilson was really interesting, I had no idea being famous but not famous enough could have such a lasting impact... Going to check out Humbly Super Famous for sure!

Such an honest conversation, thank you! It makes me wonder to what degree it is the same with voice acting. Initially I would think VAs like Bryce Papenbrook would have found a similar fate, but yet he is able to do so many different things, with what is essentially the same voice. Is this less common in the Voice Acting industry because there is not typically a face to the name/voice?

I often wonder what I would do if I were to meet one of my favorite celebrities. The closest I've ever come to doing that is a UA-cam meetup in 2012 when Cory Williams, the creator of SMPFilms and TheMeanKitty, was one of the main reasons we were all there. Had a blast just messing around in the park, but everything was just designed to be super casual, he's just an ordinary guy, and we got to see most of that from his vlog channel DudeLikeHELLA (now LiveEachDay), so it was just kind of nice to finally meet a guy I had been following and felt I knew for years.
But that's still very different from, "Hey you're the guy from the thing!" Would I even be able to maintain composure? After so many years of people coming up to this celebrity and asking them about this or that, or having them say a certain line or whatever, do I dare ask about anything they're doing now that they're excited about even though I may not even really care? Even if they might appreciate it, it's incredibly selfish of me to even consider that because it's not really being done for their benefit, I know it would be just so that I could say that I made their day a little less monotonous when interacting with fans. It would be about me and trying to get a story I could gloat about because, "I'm not like those other fans." I try to stay humble in life, but I know I'm a bit ego hungry, I'll fall into that trap everytime I can.
So the moral of the story is, keep me away from famous people, it's the best outcome for everyone involved. 😅
