  • In this video, we have travelled from Kyoto to Takayama via the shinkansen bullet train. We spend a couple of days up in the snow mountains - going on the ropeways & having a play in snow. Hope you enjoyed it!
Thank you for spending a little part of your day with me.

Hi, what a lovely video!😍 What's the name of the hotel did you stay nearby Shinhotaka area? I'm planning for my trip to Takayama next January .

Thank you so much 🥰 Oh how exciting! We stayed at Hodakaso Yamano Hotel in Takayama! It was a good location to get to the ropeways but not a good location for shops & restaurants etc unless you have a hire car. Have a great time on your trip!! x

Thank you 🥰 I was in Japan for 3 weeks in March! In hindsight, I think Late March to Early April would have been even better!

Hello! Can I check how many hours you have spent on the mountain?

Hello! We spent about 3-4 hours (including lunch) on the actual snowy mountains. But also, our hotel was on the mountain on the way to Shinhotaka Ropeways (5 min drive/30 min walk) so technically we spent 2 nights up there 😅

Hi may I ask do you buy the bus ticket directly at Nohi bus station? Or use the JR pass? And can directly just hop on any bus? Because we are arriving late 5PM at Takayama so intend to go to Shinhotaka tomrrow morning. Thanks

Can we buy directly the same day of the trip? Thanks

Hello 👋 We arrived at Takayama around 5pm too! We bought a bus ticket directly at Nohi bus station for the next bus departing up the mountain so yes you can buy it for the same day. The buses are not part of the JR pass but we did use our JR pass for the train to Nohi Station. But I also think if you hop on the bus at any other stop, you can also buy a ticket when you get on & pay when you get off. Because our hotel is on the way to Shinhotaka, the next day when we went, our hotel had a shuttle bus so we didn't end up taking the local bus up there. Hope this helps! ☺️

@@jackiethecreativelife hi that's mean the Nohi bus station is still open at 5PM yes? So can still buy for tomorrow ticket. As we heard must buy ticket first, cannot just hop on the bus and pay.

@HLHOP701 Oh wait wait wait...I'm trying to think back to like 10 months ago! 😅 I think we got to the bus station around 3:30-4pm so maybe we still made it to time to buy a ticket. I'm not sure about after 5pm but I did see people buy tickets directly on the bus when they picked up people along the way (using cash only). Have a good time!
