    I'm heading that way in a few days. Can't wait to put these techniques to the test!

      Thank you! By flipping it I get a little more use out of each one. The gulp only last fir a couple of fish then if I flip it I can get one or two more.

    Enjoyed your video today.
    I’m planning on fishing Easter weekend by lock and dam 7.
    I would like to try the Gulp minnows.
    Were you using the 3” emerald shiner gulp or a different one?

    I have been looking forward to this open water walleye vid. Only thing i don't understand is where are all the other boats? Last time i went jigging early spring I had to play bumper boats and that was on a weekday... Is your lund a 1977 model? I have a 16' lund myself and they look the same except I rigged my inside a little different. Thanks for braving the cold to entertain us all 😉

      It does get busy by the dams but I usually avoid them when it’s crowded. Since it was colder there weren’t many people out. I’ll be doing some videos where I’m fishing further downstream away from the crowds. I’m not exactly sure on the year but I think it’s early 70s.

    How did you find a spot on the Mississippi without having to deal with bumper boats? Lol

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  2 роки тому

      If I see a group of boats where I want to fish I go somewhere else. If a boat comes and fishes right next me I go somewhere else.

    I noticed your line is orange. Do you tie on a flouro leader? Do you find walleye line shy?

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  2 роки тому

      I tie the gold mono right to the jig. I don’t think the fish mind at all. The Mississippi River is generally tinted or stained.

    Hey thanks for the video, I have been fishing all my life but am from Minnesota and am used to lake fishing... the river has been a challenge. Do you have any big tips that will help me find where the fish are concentrated to increase my results?

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  3 роки тому +2

      Anything in the river that diverts the current and creates a current seam will hold fish. The bigger the current seam the more likely to hold large numbers of fish. The absolute most important thing to master that will catch you more fish is to learn to fish a jig off the bottom. Knowing exactly where your jig is in relationship to the bottom will allow to consistently catch fish. This is accomplished through practice and experimenting with different line weights and jig sizes. Learn to read your line and use feel to indicate the bottom and fish strikes.

    Nice show again Lance. I noticed in your videos you go from Evenrude to Mercury and back to Evenrude must be a story there. Tip I do to my Rods when cleaning them getting ready for fishing season is to use 2000 grit sand paper on the cork in the sink, freshens them up get a lot of crud off without taking down the handle. Just a light sanding. TC

    • @AnglerX
      @AnglerX  3 роки тому +1

      Thank You!!! The Mercury is now my backup motor. Last year I had to replace the forward gear in my Envirude so I used the Mercury for a bit. Now back with the Evinrude. That’s a good tip for cleaning up the cork rod grips. Almost all my rods have cork grips.

      I have been wondering if that is what is going on to my 2004 Johnson 30hp. Some times I go to take off and it’s like the prop is slipping in forward gear. I have been wonder if the gear dogs are worn ?
