  • In this walleye fishing tips video we talk about a walleye rig that makes catching walleye in rivers much simpler especially if you are fishing deep water. Current can pose a problem for many walleye anglers because it makes it hard to keep your bait on the bottom. In this how to video we talk about how to combat that using a little used walleye rig.

We use these rigs on lakes. Similar to mopping so to speak. Don’t forget to mention that streamer flies and live bait work with this method as well. Also make sure to remind them about the lead length. Usually 8-24 inches. I usually run 18 inches when I use artificial bates. Good video. Glad your sharing. 1 more thing in WI where I’m from just remind them that it’s a day to day thing and weather really dictates the bite in spring. . Fish here one day gone the next. There always on the move.

I’ve been using this exact type of rig in the Ohio river for a long time! Infinitely adjustable for conditions and bite!
I thought I had a secret weapon. Lol
Most people think catfish when they hear threeway rig.
    Great video!

I have been fishing with buddies who swear by catfish and they introduced me to a 3 way rig and my first thought was walleye fishing hardest thing is to maintain bottom contact. I had never thrown a sinker from the bank so much without it never snagging on anything so immediately started searching for 3 way walleye rigs just makes sense 🤷 was trying to jig in spring currents and man wasn't getting nothing and my jig head were getting pushed over and snagged

I use a drift rig similar to this when i fish lake Erie in Erie, PA. Except I use a slinky weight and double hook rig with a spinner blade and use night crawlers. Sometimes I use a plastic bait

    Dubuque rig

Dubuque rig: Instead of a weight, use a heavier jig head for the drop line. Make sure it is legal where you fish before using it though. The rig shown works if it isn’t legal to have a second lure tied to the same line.

What kinda speed are you aiming for? Never done this at all so that’s my first question. Love your videos.
