The Winner of this Eurovision was definatly Denmark ! what a stunning danish audience ! and the best song this year for me : France (maybe because I'm french ;o))
No, I'm german. I was 14 when I watched it.
I remember recording it on my VHS and listen to the estonian and greece song nonstop. :D

My 18 year old cousin had crushed my ears with Turkey's song and how it would go to rock during the voting part. I couldn't understand what he should find in this song to say such a thing. After Greece's voting he kept reminding me "Didn't I tell I you about Turkey? Didn't I tell you about Turkey?" I was amazed! He had sensed the audience's trend!

I was sitting on the right side, and I admit, the stage seemed very far away and people on it were tiny, but I could see it - and the two huge monitors on each side of it helped too :)
It must have been fantastic given that this has been the largest stage (most people) ever.
Estonia was the best! It's not garbage! It did NOT suck! But we do have bad songs now :(
Take this trash and put right next to "Randajad" (or "La forza"). This won, Randajad (or "La forza") didn't. Cry. (I do)

Greece did not want to win at Eurovision 2001 because the Greek public broadcaster ERT said that Greece did not have a stadium to host the competition as the OAKA basketball court was being built for 2004.

I don't understand how Latvia came 17th but weren't relegated? Please can somebody explain to me why this happened? Thanks :)
because ebu upped the participants from 22 to 24 and Portugal declined to take part :)
it´s very easy portugal was allowed to take part in 2002 because israel declined to take part.
but we decided that we were embarressed enough this year so we decided to give our spot to Latvia.
if it wasn´t for us they wouldnt have won
Many small mistakes everywhere in this show, really a contrast to Stockholm 2000 that was almost perfect. The arena 2001 was to noisy and big and the crowd could barely see the stage in many places, not to speak of the major mistakes on the map, excluding Istanbul out of Turkey for an example. Also the small strips with song names being removed/added to late. It's interesting how many of the xxx1 contests that failed. Luckily the show in Düsseldorf last year wasn't a disaster.

@stavros79gr Worst year in ESC history. Greece was ok and also France but the best were Slovenia and Russia the rest was garbage.
For goodness's sake, Terry Wogan was terrible at keeping up the suspense here. Denmark still could've beaten Estonia when Greece had yet to vote, but he kept saying that it was all over and that Estonia had won it. Alexis was right, their votes did change things. Good riddance to Wogan.
AtlasBlizzard But realistically, what was the possibility with Denmark yet to vote? Besides, I don’t think Terry really wanted to return to Denmark if the chances are that *them* two do the hosting again...
