- Easy audio fix connecting TV to sound system review this works for LG, Sony, Vizio, Onkyo, Pioneer, Samsung, Yamaha, Bose, RCA, GE, Denon surround sound receivers, to reset sound system just unplug power cord for 1 full minute to reset audio circuit & check TV's sound setting then change to external speakers then raise volume, i hope this helps you.

Thank you so much for the clearest walkthrough on UA-cam on the subject. I’ve never not been able to hook up and install anything in my life until this sound bar. I tried everything, apparently my tv and my soundbar and all other electronics had to be unplugged in order for my sound to even work through the soundbar. Never had trouble like this. First time i use optical cable to provide audio and i really dont know that i need to change settings of tv. Not only the to change from standard to audio out/optical but to change also digital ouput audio from dolby digital to PCM... I really thought my newly bought soundbar is broken.. Thank you! That setting "External Speaker (Optical/HDMI ARC)" fixed the sound issue between my LG TV & my Bose Cinemate 15 sound bar...
What if after the settings output on the tv are changed the optical for the sound bar the sound at still does not work?
The blue tooth on the sound bar works though?
Maybe my optical is no longer good?
Thanks for your video. Even though this was posted some time ago, it is still helpful. I just purchased a Sony TV with optical audio output. Had no idea how to send audio out from the TV until I reviewed this video. It helped my solve 50% of my problem. I was able to figure out the last 50% with help from another source relating to the I/O settings on my home theater system. I am now able to enjoy my new TV with surround sound.
Good effort. I’m gonna check my tv settings. When most people do these videos, they can’t decide if they are doing a review or a ‘how to’ video. It’s frustrating to watch.

Thanks for mentioning HDMI ARC. I saw that option on my tv but had no idea what it was.
Don't forget to tell them to take the little plastic cap OFF of the end of the optical cable... didn't realise that and the instructions don't tell you about this.

I can get sound to my speakers out of my LG TV but I can't adjust the volume with the TV remote control. I have a New LG smart TV and Logitech speakers. There is an optical converter to RCA between the TV and the speakers. I would appreciate any fix for this issue. Thank you and excellent video!!!
Try setting up your sound bar using HDMI ... using LG TV remote and web OS .. settings per new upgrade..should help you use one remote for all devices.. good luck

Got it. Thanks. My issue with optical I get a popping sound on a new 55" Vizio UHD. I have a JBL soundbar.
Make sure your sound mode is set to PCM and not pass through. I've had popping on pass through before.

I don't know if this is still a concern for you, but if it's an LG soundbar hold down sound effect. That should work to connect the remotes

You will find that Optical will give you 5 channels when using the tv tuner but all hdmi inputs to the tv will be downmixed to 2 channels when the signal is passed to optical out. This was "by design" of the hdmi spec apparently-it took me ages to discover this-i couldnt believe it. Hdmi arc will give 5 channels if the source is 5 channels. Using hdmi arc the tv knows it has a surround system connected and reports this to the hdmi inputs. Using optical out the tv reports to any of the inputs as a 2 channel system.

Thanks a lot bro. Can you tell me one thing. My home theater is connected to the receiver via HDMI Arc to the TV. Now I got a sound bar of Sony. How do I connect it to the TV so that the sound bar plays the same sound with my home theater system always whatever I play. Since the HDMI Arc is occupied so shall I connect the sound bar with the TV using optical port?

I had my surround system set up and working fine with the optical cable. After a period, it quit working. So, I switched to the auxiliary red/white audio out and that worked fine for a period. Then, I started having a problem with the sound cutting out, then back on, then cutting out. Recently, the sound quit completely. The TV speakers still work. I suspect a board problem, but do not know which board controls the sound outputs to the audio outputs. I have a Sony Bravia KDL-32S5100 TV. Suggestions?
I have all the options to TV and Soundbar, I have connected with High Speed HDMI cable to HDMI (ARC) port of both TV and Soundbar. The sound works good when I connect Pendrive to TV. But when I play video on UA-cam on TV, the sound cut after every 4 seconds for 4 seconds. So, Do I need to connect all other remaining ports with availbale cables like Optical Cable, AV Audio/ Video cable?

Posting this if it helps. I had static coming from the adapter Toslink from tv to old receiver and I solved it by programing the audio options on the tv by pressing tv+ optical option just optical gets static. Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing your guides, they're helpful, even if refreshers. My problem, new Samsung TV that has no RCA or 3.5mm jacks for legacy devices. I've got wireless headset and the base will only connect to a sound out via RCA jacks. So, I've connected the TV optical audio output to a Digital to Analog Converter that does output to RCA jacks for the base of my headset. TV audio is fine, switch to Roku box input and the audio on headset drops out when selecting Netflix, Amazon Prime & HBO Go. Acorn TV and all others are still GOOD thru the headset. If I switch back to the TV device the sound comes right back, so it's something with those 3 specific services mentioned above? I'm buying a better DAC via Amazon hoping that is the problem. Do you think I'm on the right track to fixing this issue?

Ok. I have a Onkyo home theater reciever and a telus optic cable box. I have the optic cable going from cable box to reciever. But when i turn up tv speaker sound also, they are out of sync. Should i go directly from tv to reciever or cable box to reciever.?
I don't know why you are compliang.I run 2 Samsung tablets and my Flat scream TV through a Cromecast 2 gen.With only 1.2 Megs per second and is very happy if I do get bufeting it is mostly on the service provides side.Frank68.Shout Africa.

I have an xbox an apple tv and my cable box setup to my bose 525... they are all using hdmi cables and sound great, but i want to put my tv's smart tv function on the bose too...what should i do? The tv only works with the bose if i am using one of these three devices i mentioned, but not with the smart tv function. I'm setting my surround sound up, but can't get the optical cord to fit.
it only fits in one direction but can be a cable connector manufacture flaw so use a file on the cable to fit it in or buy another cable or use RCA cables.
there is probably a plastic cap (little plastic bulb thing) that fits over the optical connector .. you remove that.. Yeah.. I know.. instructions forget to tell you that and We somehow managed to shove the connector in, thinking that is how the cable end looked like)..

This may be off topic but I'm having an audio problem with my M60-D1 into an AVR I'm using a fiber optic audio cable but I can't get it to play Dolby audio thru my AVR. All I hear is a high pitched wobbly signal instead of true Dolby audio. It sounds like a digital ferret! Lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I been trying to get my sound bar to work with my Philips 4k smart tv. I cancelled my cable service and I have Amazon fire stick. I can't get any sound from the sound bar, but I get sound from my tv. back of sound bar has a red and white plug in and I plugged the red white cable into sound bar and into tv and sound bar does not work, it worked before when I had cable. I also used a optical cable, red light was on, plug into tv and sound bar, still no sound out of the bar. I cut the speakers off on the tv and still no sound out of bar. What else can I do?

I have a Samsung LED TV connected to my LG sound bar. I am currently getting static and popping noises through the sound bar. (its worked perfect in the past) I cannot figure out why. I've bought a new optical cable, and that did not work. I've moved the sound bar to another TV and it worked fine. I thought maybe the static was from the wire being under a wirecover with all my other wires so I ran it outside of the wire cover, with no luck either. I may try and power down the surge that eveything is plugged into and see if it resets somehow. Any other ideas? Sound coming through tv speakers is fine also.

My sound still ain't working, I have an older receiver that has the red and white inputs. I had the toslink cable going from my Xbox one to a Analog Audio Converter and to my receiver, it worked just fine. But when I plugged the toslink to the Optical out on my TV then being converted to my receiver, it doesn't work, even when I switch the audio to Optical out on my TV. I have a Samsung UHD Smart TV, and my av receiver is a Philips MX 3660D, and the converter is a Prozor Digital to Analog Audio Converter. Do I have to change something in my TV settings?
