My Mother, Aunt and two Uncles were born right next to this cemetery. The old black school, red brick building at the end of the cemetery and one of the houses near entrance…
My favorite videos are of the cemeteries you visit. I lost a child 12 years ago and I know that whenever someone speaks his name he lives again for that moment. When you go through the old graveyards, I feel that when you read the name, for that minute, they are not forgotten. These were the souls who paved the way for us. Thank you for remembering them.
Harper's Ferry is absolutely wonderful. It's like Gettysburg...to get the most out of it, you need to spend at LEAST 3-5 days there. Just tons of stuff to see in both locations. Thanks for the vid!!!👍👍
John Wager born 1772 and died 1812. His wife was Catherine Bate 1775 to 1829. They had the following children: James Bate Wager 1801 to 1854, John William Stein Wager 1802 to 1923, Gerard Bond Wager 1805 to 1848, Sarah Ann St Clair Wager 1808 to 1881. His father John Wager 1747 to 1802 fought in the American Revolution. He was born in Germany and immigrated to Pennsylvania initially. From what I can see on Ancestry.com that house you can see in the back ground in your video, on 15 June 1796 that house and approx 2 acres was bought by the US Govt from John Wager Sr. The govt cleared the site and a Paymasters quarters was commissioned in 1847 by the Secretary of War. That’s the house you can see in the back ground. In 1964 they NPS did a restoration. That house was used in the Civil War as the headquarters for General Philip H Sheridan of the Union Army.
Very nice Brother! Beautiful area and I particularly love hearing the sounds of summer birds singing. Our birds left here at the end of Aug. Super early this year.
I was at Harper's Ferry a few summers ago. Really cool place, history, trains, beautiful scenery and of course I had to check out this cemetery while I was there.
Absolutely Gorgeous shot you got in the church with sun shining through & the clouds! Cemetery was peaceful hearing the birds & even train. Family with the stone wall around was neat. So Love wandering around with you Cliff. Thanks, great video. :)
Hi Cliff, I have seen a different channel use a torch that shines from side on to the lettering on gravestones that causes a shadow on the lettering so it can be read easier. Such a beautiful church, a shame it's now in ruins considering the history. A nicely kept graveyard, although there is some work needed to rescue those headstones that are being hidden by the grass. Thank you for sharing. x
These vids will be even more captivating when the leaves turn a bit more. Nothing like zoomed out, autumnal colors playing from hilltop to hilltop 🍁 🌄🧡
Different rock of the abandon church. Really something to see. I love seeing old things of what things use to be. Cementary 1782 my that is old, really something.
Thanks Kindly WW! I have explored this cemetery both day and night. A paranormal investigation at night with a film crew.,I got some good video there and around and in the stone fenced Wager plot. Harper's Ferry is well with visiting multiple times. It is indeed a wonderful place and the site of one of the biggest gun factories since the early days. This also made it a very important place. Safe Journeys WW! And think about a WW calendar, each month could be a park. I'd buy one most certainly! DaveyJO
Sheila Blische Hi Sheila, I haven't been down to Harper's Ferry for a good while. It's such a great haunted town I can't believe there isn't one. I did an investigation at Hill Top House hotel as well and that was a trip. Harper's Ferry is like Gettysburg in many ways, although Gettysburg in a very intense place indeed. Oh yes, the Hilltop House was built on a mass grave and definitely haunted. Last I heard it had been closed and left go but may have been reopened but I'm not certain. In Pa we have so much history and lots of energies, although I recorded thing in a very haunted house that was six months old. In the stone walled section of the cemetery WW Cliff had in his video, I think it's there we picked up a shadow person. I have tons of videos I must go through and make some DVDs. Lots of them are on tapes from a few Sony nightshot cameras. I also got some interesting things in the church ruins both day and night. Thanks for the response and good hunting. Peace and Good Hunting, Hiking and Living! DaveyJO
Sheila Blische Thanks for the info Sheila! What a shame that Hilltop House is falling apart. When I was there it was really nice rooms to rent and a large dining room. The basement is like a cave and we all thought we'd found a possible burial shroud sticking out of the dirt bank in the basement. It was like a home spun cloth with very large spaced crud stitching, like a burial shroud. Their out buildings produced results as well. The film crew wanted to have a two hour pilot and a weekly show. Turns out it fell through, the film crew did lots of main sports events and we're doing the ghost hunting thing on their own on the side. Traveling about a few times for a week in a 28' RV all expenses paid, even our guitar strings, as I wrote music for the video including the theme song. It was to be called The Haunted Highways. It fell through but what a great experience and great folks and loads of fun. And many good results in video, photos and EVP. It wasn't a bad deal and we all are friends. Between them covering major sports events and covering political events for a few major networks, it just became too much and they lacked time. Thing is our experiences far exceeded the ghost shows today. We weren't trying to prove anything to science or anybody. It was just for our own knowledge and understanding. With my years of experiences I have no doubt about spirits and dimensional blendings. I don't do much anymore but sometimes an opportunity presents itself and I must. But as the Hilltop House was built on a mass grave, perhaps it is only fitting in crumbles away. But who knows. I was told people who stayed there indeed had experiences and some left in the night being freaked out. I'm sure one would pick up things there today. Lots going on in Harper's Ferry. When you consider that we humans only see a tiny fraction of the light spectrum, there is so much we can't see but we can certainly feel. And if you haven't checked it out before, tune into ECETI Ranch in Washington State. Tons of things going on there with UFOs, Spirits and Elementals. They are on YT or at ECETI.org and have a radio show every Saturday about 11pm often with video. Take care and be Well and Thank You! DaveyJO
Awesome video thanks for sharing it. I'd love to go to Gettysburg and if I have time Harpers Ferry. Do you know how haunted Harper's Ferry and The Harper's Ferry Cemetary is? I imagine quite haunted with all the history that went on there. Just saying. Have a great day everyone.
I think you should be able to plug in a USB drive into the headstone(with there perrmishion) it would give you the info on the person that is buried there. we have the capability.
My fiance is from up in that area, but moved down in southern wv in 2015, we go back and visit when we have free time, beautiful country up that way,

Just love the stonework on church. Was a beaut building once. Really love old cemetery, thanks for taking me along
The view from up there is pretty awesome too. Maybe do a shot of that next time.
Love the history and the church. 👍🏻
The last time I was there was about 60 years ago. I remember a lot I’d Swedish names. This cemetery was my “start” of loving old cemeteries!
The remains of the church was beautiful and so is the locations. Nature really does reclaim its own.
Beautiful church, loved to have seen what it looked like fully intact. Wow that cemetery was very interesting too, thank you. ♥️
There is a picture of it on the website called Only in Your State
The history here is so interesting! I love the nature in the cemetery. Very beautiful place! Also, wish I knew how the kids passed.
Absolutely Gorgeous shot you got in the church with sun shining through & the clouds! Cemetery was peaceful hearing the birds & even train. Family with the stone wall around was neat. So Love wandering around with you Cliff. Thanks, great video. :)
Listen how quiet it is in the cemetery. Thank you for sharing it’s great
Great video. Many ancestors as well as grandparents and my parents are buried there. My ashes will be there too when the time comes.
I actually lived near this place, went to the historic cemetery a bunch of times, glad to hear more about it.
Good catch with the caterpillar 🐛 we always said the furrier they were meant more snow ❄️. Now I'll check for color. Cool 😎.

Good idea, Sue! I have also seen some change camera's contrast setting whilst filming to deepen field depth, making text stand out better.
Your camera work is excellent your xplorations are fascinating and I greatly enjoy your videos.
Sidestep Adventures uses a flashlight to read the old stones. It works pretty good.
Good stuff. Thank you.

Daveyjo Weaver Do they still have the ghost tour in town? Always thought it was one of the better ones.

DaveyJO thanks for the update. There is drone footage on UA-cam of Hilltop it's falling apart.

I'll take the calendar under consideration.
Great video.
I like to stand in the abandoned church at night and listen to the Christmas carolers and people singing in the new church
I live in martinsburg wv almost close you were at love video

I have heard some stories, but need to do more research.
I think I have an old VHS tape of the town ghost tour in the 90's,
Lovely old Church.
Love your videos. Perhaps try a red filter to read unreadable memorials.
Been there many times.
We have stayed at Highacre the house right above the old church
👍👍👍

Harpers Ferry, home of the headquarters of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. ♥️👍
Just a reminder to be safe on hikes. Saw on the Lehigh Valley news a bucks co. man who was reported missing had been found dead. No cause as yet.
You need a flashlight lay to the side of the stone then you can read it 🤗
