I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

Shakira is effortless, her energy and her happiness is contagious, she is having fun while jumping, singing, dancing
Although I love the performance, I'm pretty sure they recorded a ''breathy'' version of them singing (or used live autotune), so it could pass as being live and there were only a few parts sung that were actually live to create this very illusion, you can hear the autotune pretty clearly throughout. There's no way they could have done such a physical dancing routine while singing that flawlessly.

That TONGUE MOVENMENT is from Barranquilla's Carnival in Colombia. Right after that she dancing 'mapalé' a traditional dance in Colombia, and when she danced Waka Waka she danced 'champeta' from Colombia as well.

Food? There's tacos, burritos, etc. for Latin America. But whats typical American food? A hamburger? That's from Germany, bud. Fries? They're European as well. Music? Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes are Canadian, yet they're at the top.

Not my words, but my feelings and those from a lot of Latinos this past Sunday:
“The comments and memes about last night's half-time show just reminds me how white-centric the American mind is. There were so many cultural references in last night's show and I'd say probably very few white Americans recognized them.
The Superbowl was hosted in Miami this year - a city nicknamed the "Capital of Latin America".
Some of the costumes in J-Lo's performance showed a tribute to Selena, one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of all time (who J-Lo played in the 1997 biographical film.)
J-Lo, who is of Puerto Rican descent, donned a reversible cape showing the Puerto Rican and American Flags on either side. Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory which is still recovering from devastating damage from a hurricane and subsequent earthquakes. J-Lo has notably donated at least $1 million towards aid for Puerto Rico. Her daughter singing "Born in the USA" was a reminder that Puerto Ricans are Americans too.
I know some people said "Let's have more of the kids singing! It should be family friendly!" While that was happening, other children were shown in cage-like structures to represent a subtle nod to the children (mostly of Latino descent) we have kept in detention over the past several administrations.
And Shakira. Thanks to my sister's obsession I grew up knowing a LOT about Shakira! Her father's parents were Lebanese immigrants who emigrated to New York City where her father was born and then subsequently immigrated to Barranquilla, Colombia - where waves of Middle Eastern immigrants came after WW1 and WW2.
The "weird tongue thing" she did? That's called a zaghrouta which is used to express joy in Arabic culture. Shakira is very proud of her Lebanese roots and has been belly dancing since the age of 4.
The "stomping dance" she did? Champeta! A tribute to Afro-Colombian culture.
In fact almost all the dancing in the half-time show was a nod to Latin or Afro-Latin culture including mapalé and salsa.
So maybe you thought it was "nasty" or "not family-friendly" but I saw it as pride, a celebration of culture, and one of the most honoring things these two women could have done for Latin Americans. “

A music engineer buddy of mine once told me Jlo and Hillary Duff were the two worst vocalists he's ever had to fix. He said Jlo is absolutely tone deaf based off her raw tracks. He has nothing against Jlo. He was just explaining why what was suppose to be a simple job became a nightmare. He had to fix every single word she sang. A little insider knowledge for you. That's why she lip syncs.

Well to me 50% of what makes a good song is the lyrics, the other factors being the quality of the artist’s voice and the quality and originality of the music. If the lyrics mean something worthwhile the song is usually pretty good. So, if I can’t understand the lyrics then to me there is no point in listening to the song at all.

It was a great show! I liked Shakira's performance a bit more, but the fact that they are 43 and 50 moving better than I could ever, I loved it. They represented for the Latin community and it was fun and upbeat 😍😍😍 I dont think it was all the ways live for either of them, but fun nonetheless!

I liked Shakira more for some reason. It was a better performance, I thought, because there was more balance between the vocals and the showmanship than with JLo.

My grandma is 95 and she moves more than JLo. 🤷♀️ Caribbean grow up dancing and with healthier foods. JLo can dance hip hop and she’s a performer but just look at how much Shakira dances and actually sings while doing it. JLo’s hip movement is non existent.

I'm a fan of Shakira from the very beggining and to understand her succes in the music industry, you have to know that she is a genius with high IQ, she's a musician that writes her own lyrics which are very poetic, and produce all her songs as well, plus she's beatiful and dance on Beyonce level, so that's why she's a global super star, not because she is good vocalist, nobody is perfect. About confidence, is must have, nobody is gonna ask you to believe in yourself, you have to do it because there's no other option. Shakira was rejected in the choir of her School and the teacher said she sounded like a goat, can you imagine if Shakira wouldn't have high self steem? Anyways, great video as always.
Leave it to the Latin ladies to make this half-time show into what it should be, a lovely over the top party that makes you happy and leaves you entertained a great deal.

My blood was rushing. Shakira was my first music idol during my childhood. I imitated her in a lot of school talent shows. Her artistry has changed but the core is there. Jennifer is a whole performer and knows how to rule a stage.
I hate how much hate they have been getting because supposedly their “performances” are to sexy.. I saw nothing to raunchy even the pool dance was very clean.. I’ve seen worse from Miley (no hate I love her) and even MV . shakira is known for shaking her hips so what did ppl expect .. I wish they could appreciate different styles of dancing. Ppl twerk on a daily and ppl don’t talk about that so why don’t we just tone it down a notch. Loved the performances.. thanks for your insight love you voice too ❤️😘

Before watching the halftime show, I was like "meh" about it, but I really enjoyed both performers and respected the effort and showmanship that they displayed. Like them or not, NOBODY can say they phoned in their performances. Hard working women there.

Oh my gosh, I cried. This was Such a beautiful performance!! I didn't know Shakira is THAT great!! She's so cool!! and JLo and all the dancers nailed it too! The stage designers did Amazing too! And that Puerto Rican flag with JLO's daughter singing "Born in the USA!" was AMAZING! I loved this!!

I'm a huge shakira fan and personally I think she sings better in Spanish, her old albums are fire! Singing in English doesn't due her justice because her accent kind of gets in the way, but she's an amazing artist and definitely very original! I just LOVE her!

This was my favorite Súper Bowl halftime show ever!!! I’m Latina myself, and I love both Shakira and jLo. There hasn’t been a day since the Super Bowl that I haven’t watched the video at least one time. While I love them both, Shakira is just unbelievable with those hips!!! I think JLo killed it! If you enjoyed her pole dancing, she was in this movie called Hustlers where she played an exotic dancer (that is how she learned all those moves) Oh, and the kid that sang with her? That's her daughter Emme. So cute
I loved JLo (not as much as Shakira, obvi) but her pole dancing were the most basic moves ever. Rest of her performance was great, though.
It annoys me that the pole dancing is what some people thought was inappropriate. Pole dancing can be very tasteful and beautiful, I have a friend who does it. She's not a stripper or anything like that, she does it for fun and it's really pretty to watch and takes extreme strength and grace.

I've never been so proud to be Puerto Rican and Latino having 2 Puerto Ricans (Bad Bunny and J.Lo) and 2 Colombians (Shakira and J.Balvin) plus J.Lo's daughter was so damn good. Everything about it was explosive and makes so much sense since it was in Miami were many of us Latinos live there 🇨🇴 🇵🇷
I mean I love Jlo but Shakira outperformed her. Jlo had a lot of backup dancers but Shakira was almost alone and she has thr best stage presence. If Jlo was 100 , Shakira was 500 ! Shaq foreva!!

Halftime shows aren't a competition is a collaboration between artist, their goal is to entertain, both productions worked together to share a stage and both delivered their own style, it was a non-stop mega show.

It boggles my mind that so many people are up in arms about this performance. I got emotional watching it. All of those amazing women and girls showing the world how strong and powerful we are. There was so much symbolism in their performance and I’m so impressed by the physical strength of Shakira and J.Lo. I’m 27 and can’t move my hips like that, let alone have the core strength to do what J.Lo did on that pole. Amazing.

I love your face when the guy on silver suit came to the stage, he is been in the Spotlight cuz his lyrics and "voice" I do belive that shakira is a complete musician, she runs through a set of styles and instruments and she dances champeta which is a colombian variation of african dances, and what she does with her toungue (that sound) is a reference to Barranquilla's carnival dance group which paint their body fully in black and represent slavery and that sound is a sound of freedoom... love from colombia....
