  • I will go all in and just say that in my opinion this is the best Nightwish song. I could be wrong but this one will be super hard to beat.
Music was beautiful, emotions were all over the place and im a mess now, but im glad i got to do it. It sort of resets you and put things in perspective.
Good job Nightwish and i am looking forward to hear next songs.

You asked during the intro: "What are those bangs?" - only the asteroids that collided and coagulated in the orbit of the Sun, forming our planet. It's a beautiful story, following the hypotheses of science, a history of the Earth from its formation to the present.

@@jaskau2462 Science creates viable theories based on evidence gathered and interpreted by specialists (physicists, chemists, biologists, geologists, etc.) and makes predictions based on this evidence. "Just a scientific theory" is not a small thing. Honest science does not have the arrogance to consider itself immutable, like most organized religions, but accepts that one or another scientific theory is wrong, if new evidence is found in this sense. The "meaning" revealed at the end is of a spiritual nature, affirming that humanity has not yet revealed its potential contained in the genome. This idea, which starts from scientific arguments, does not contradict the religions of the world, because it goes in the same direction, although it is not based on the revelations that are the basis of religious doctrines or on their interpretation.

The greatest show on earth is LIFE. Btw, THANK YOU for such a GENUINE and emotional reaction!!! It's important to show that men can express emotion!!! If you DIDN'T show emotion, what would the quality of the reaction really be??? Just watching a video for 20 minutes and say "it was epic" and that's it??? OH, and for the future time when you do "The Poet and the Pendulum" live at Wembley, you might wanna do the background info on what it's about, as you know Tuomas gets deep and this one is VERY personal to HIM. it is weird how in 2023 it feels embarrasing to show emotion as a white straight man. It feels like we shouldnt have any. Its just weird. All this world is weird. So many people think we do not feel or we are evil just because we are born who we are born. I hate politics and i dont want to get into what state of world is in right now. BUT. So many people need to hear this song so maybe it can put things in perspective. If people would just stop and listen. And i mean really listen… I have heared this song about 30 times by now. It should be played in schools as education material! And if 10% feels what i felt, its a win!

@@richythenobodyYes, people should get the chance to enjoy reality and how much a life is worth and how lucky they are to even be born instead of demanding special rules of the universe just for them.
In extreme religious countries like Turket and USA, teachers avoid to teach about evolution since they may loose their job when religious parents sue the school for not teaching that their God made humans from nothing by some magic power who never do anything wrong and know what will happen in the future and then had to kill all humans, plants and animals in a flood, just saving a few since he had forgot how to make new life.
We are going to make ourself go extinct but the planet will recover and maybe a new animal will take the humans place in science if there is long time enough between large meteors that whipe out all life.

@@richythenobody I know it's been almost a week, but I've had your comment in my mind and have wanted to reply to it. First, I'm so sorry that people, or society, has made you feel that way. I'm not straight but ALL my friends are. I also hate this "woke" culture (politics) that surrounds us. I can honestly tell you that you are NOT "evil" anymore than I am. Most of my close friends are straight white males and I love them for who they are AND what they are, and vice versa. NEVER feel emberrased to show emotion because showing emotion is HUMAN regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else. I've actually experienced the opposite in my life where I've been bullied because of being "me" and how *I* was born (or developed).
And yeah, this song is a reminder that we are not a bunch of races, but we belong to the ONE human race, all trying to live and survive. Keep up the wonderful reactions. I just saw Poet and the Pendulum. Have a nice weekend! - No One (Derick)

People should care more for one and other and if we stopped shove our views in other people throats i believe there would be less hate in this world.
But as we know that is not likely to happen. Especially on social media. It reminds me of video of 2 groups of doggs on each side of the fence. When fence is closed (social media) they were barking like crazy, the gate opened and they were friendly to each other (regular life).
Thanks for your reply, it sucks being bullied for who you are, or if you are different. And different can really be anything. Friend of mine got bullied because he was walking different than others. Its great when people can turn this negativity into fuel and be more productive and achieve insane goals, where bullies usualy stay where they were 15 years ago.

The greatest show on Earth is Evolution! (A day to day new opening to the greatest show on earth). Tuomas was interested in the universe very early (he wrote “Stargazers” when he was 18 years old), but Troy brought him to the writings of Richard Dawkins. The songtitle is also the title of a book by Dawkins. The last 3 NW albums (including the one to come next year) are dealing with all kinds of aspects of evolution and our role in it😮

I've heard/watched the studio version, this one, and the Tampere video like a thousand times, and I ALWAYS tear up at the "...grain of sand..." and the "We were here" parts. No need to be ashamed. Love this one ; like the Tampere version better. :) Give that one a listen/view when you have a chance. (Floor's parents, & sister Irene, were in the audience, so maybe a little extra inspiration? ;) )

The bangs at the beginning are supposed to be the Late Heavy Bombardment Period
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Heavy_Bombardment
hypothesized event thought to have occurred approximately 4.1 to 3.8 billion years (Ga) ago,[1] at a time corresponding to the Neohadean and Eoarchean eras on Earth. According to the hypothesis, during this interval, a disproportionately large number of asteroids and comets collided with the early terrestrial planets in the inner Solar System, including Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.[2] These came from both post-accretion and planetary instability-driven populations of impactors.[3]

"It's a long intro..." The song is 20 minutes, so it is to be expected. Be kind and have a little patience.
So many people are addicted to 3-4 minute songs these days.

I didnt mean long intro is a bad thing. just an observation. im glad it was as long as it was. i have listened to this more than 3 dozen times by now. i think it is my favorite by nightwish. and yes… on my list it is better than ghost love score. :)
