Trooper's Report: On August 2, 2024, around 14:27 hours, I was sitting in my fully marked patrol car facing southbound on the on-ramp from Miller County Road 10 onto Interstate 49 southbound near the 24-mile marker watching for vehicles driving above the posted speed limit of 75 miles per hour. I overheard Miller County Sheriff’s Office dispatch a crash with possible injuries on State Highway 196. I activated my emergency lights and sirens to drive to the crash. Shortly after entering Interstate 49 southbound, I observed a white Dodge Charger pass vehicles on the shoulder driving recklessly. As I caught up to the charger, I was able to get its speed on my radar at 121 miles per hour. While catching up, it continued to pass vehicles on the shoulder. Near exit 18, I was able to catch up near the vehicle and it was clear that the vehicle was attempting to flee. At 14:29 hours, I notified dispatch I was in pursuit. The vehicle took the exit 18, drove over both traffic islands, disregarded the stop sign, and and drove through the intersection of Miller County Road 10 at about 70 miles per hour. The vehicle continued southbound on the on-ramp back onto Interstate 49. Near the 10 mile-marker, I attempted to TVI at about 120 miles per hour. I was able to get my vehicle beside his. As soon as I did, he applied his brakes and was able to stop his vehicle quicker than I could stop mine. The vehicle accelerated quicker than I could and tried to cross the median using the authorized vehicle turnaround. The vehicle was moving too quickly to be able to make the turn, so it drove into the median for a short distance. The vehicle was able to get back onto the interstate and continue southbound. Near exit 6 onto Miller County 197, the vehicle swerved to prevent me from getting up beside it. The vehicle took exit 6, disregarded a stop sign, crossed over Miller County Road 197 at about 60 miles per hour, and continued back down the on-ramp onto Interstate 49 southbound. Near the 5 mile-marker, the vehicle swerved side to side to prevent me from getting beside ti to TVI. The vehicle took exit 4, disregarded a stop sign, drove through the intersection at about 50 miles per hour, over a traffic island, and back up the on-ramp to get onto Interstate 49 southbound. Near the 2 mile-marker, I attempted to TVI, but the vehicle was able to stop and accelerate quicker than I could to prevent my TVI. Near the 1mile-marker, I was in place to TVI on the left side of the vehicle, but too far from the vehicle, as I began to close the distance between our vehicles, the driver applied the brakes, placed his vehicle next to mine, and turned toward me at about 118 miles per hour. Out of fear of death or serious physical injury at such high speeds, I attempted to prevent the collision by turning left, but lost traction and began to go off the roadway. I entered the grassy median at about 96 miles per hour. I saw the drop off for West Fork Kelly Bayou, about a 20 foot drop off, ahead. I was unable to turn back right and get back onto Interstate 49 southbound. I turned my vehicle left to prevent driving into the Bayou and drove through the cable barrier. The cable barrier disabled my vehicle and deployed my driver side curtain airbags. I struck my head on the airbags and my left knee on the door. I had to continue to steer left and cross the northbound lanes of travel of Interstate 49 while still traveling southbound. I got my vehicle to a stop on the northbound shoulder of Interstate 49 south of the Bayou with my vehicle still facing southbound. I notified dispatch that I was forced off the roadway and the suspect vehicle continued to drive south on Interstate 49 into Louisiana. While on the side of the road, a witness that was driving ahead of where the suspect forced me off the roadway returned to the scene to tell me they saw him force me of the roadway. They provided Trp. Phifer with a witness statement. I learned that the Caddo Parrish Sheriff's Office had taken two individuals into custody in Rodessa, LA after the vehicle that fled from me had crashed out. A Caddo Parrish Deputy arrived at the location of my crash, and I was able to describe the driver to him, which matched the description of one of the individuals they took into custody, Xavier Javuan Wright. The Deputy showed me a picture of Wright and I confirmed it was him. With my vehicle now disabled, I rode with Trp. Phifer to the scene where the vehicle crashed, spoke with Wright, and confirmed he was the driver of the Charger that had fled and caused me to crash. The female passenger in the vehicle, black female Kennedy Harris, informed them that it was only Wright and her in the vehicle and he was the driver. Caddo Parrish took Wright into custody on their charges of Reckless Operation and No Driver's License. Wright charged with: felony charges of Fleeing by Vehicle with Substantial Risk, Aggravated Assault, and Battery 2nd Degree with Injury to Law Enforcement.

I do. He really didn't have to do half of what he was doing. There is no pursuit protocol that says, "shove your head up the perps ass". Idk what he expected but you can't/shouldn't get that close without having a reason to and this officer is clearly too inexperienced to know that much. Should've just kept pursuing from a distance until he had backup.
@@bioodfox7805why aren't you doing the job you are criticizing the Trooper for? With such knowledge and ability the roads would obviously be so much safer
@@jillp3761 I criticized his driving, not his ability to do the job itself. Too bad you're too half-witted to read. And FYI, I could and regularly do outdrive troopers. I'm a driving instructor. You, on the other hand, probably aren't a very good driver.
@jessicabecause3717 I didn't realize that facts and numbers were were racist. Fascinating. Maybe it has to do more with the barbaric urban culture with 8 out of 10 children born in fatherless homes.
This is my third "Bait and switch PIT" on law enforcement I've seen now...this is concerning. I do hope training is fourth coming for all law enforcement because if there is no effective counter measure for this, and the bad actors get the upper hand, we will lose Troopers and Officers.
There really isn't. Where you have to contact the other vehicle is rather specific. Too far back, you whiff; too far forward, you cannot apply enough torque to make the vehicle spin. Plus, in the case of the latter, there's the added bonus of the fact that there is no push bar on the side of the vehicle, which means lots of damage.
The criminals probably watch these chases on UA-cam and plan their moves accordingly. Unfortunately you can get a lot of tips from watching the car chases and other Police videos. You can listen to you chase on UA-cam and get hints and more of what the Police have in mind.
Criminal should be charged with felony fleeing PLUS aggravated assault on a police officer and obstruction of justice. Edit: Oh, it says they were at the end of the long summary!
At these high speeds you can’t just drive into the perps quarter panel or you yourself may leave the road at high speed and sideways. There is a recent vid where a troopers push bar got snared in the perps rear bumper and the trooper had a big roll over crash.
Yea, the officer fucked up, and wiped HIMSELF out. The perp didn't "push him off the road", the officer was pushing the PERP off the road. But then he blames it all on the perp.. 🤷🏻 🤦🏻
I don’t think anyone would disagree that this guy def belongs behind bars. However, I disagree with the trooper’s claim that the guy “pushed” him off the road. I think the trooper tried to avoid the collision and was just worried that if he told his buddies on the radio that his PIT attempt failed, he would taken off the APC (Arkansas PIT Crew).😂
13:44 Not sure about the whole "forced off the road" thing. The suspect vehicle is moving to the shoulder, to the right, and the trooper is on the left which means he's moving away from the trooper. The driver of the white charge then hits the brakes and the trooper tries to also but looks like he loses control and starts drifting left. The camera is not really showing the "I was forced off the roadway" thing. Sorry trooper, it looks like you just lost control.
They made a bunch of Chargers and have had a pretty long production run, so they are relatively cheap used. Insurance is probably high as hell on them though.
Requirements: 1. Have a really dark tan 2. Drive a Dodge 3. Be an up-and-coming “rapper” 4. Saggy pants 5. Dead octopus hairdo 6. Say bro or bruh every other word 7. Scream “I DINDU NUFFIN!” and “WHAT I DO?!!” over and over 8. Ask to call momma 9. Say “I was scared!”
@@davelowets The suspect turned into the officer, trying to PIT the officer. This isn't a game, you have no right to flee, let alone attempt to crash out the police! And suspect was charged with aggravated assault for attempting to cause the police pursuit vehicle to crash.
I think the Trooper did an excellent job during pursuit. He did not die nor were there any other casualties. How many of you, who criticized the Trooper, have legally driven a vehicle over 100 mph, over 120 mph, or have been forced off the road at 100 mph with a choice of going over a 20 foot drop off or going into cable barrier? I suspect few if any. If you are a retired or current LEO you shouldn’t be on here criticizing a fellow officer.
This is one of the rare cases the perp gets way from the ASP. Usually the perp is a worse driver but in this case he got the best of the ASP driver and go away. He will have bragging rights in prison. I wonder if Jacob Byrd would have done better with apologies to Gannon.
God bless this Trooper. He was with him. So many different possible outcomes from that wreck. First was avoiding having the cruiser split down the middle by the end of the guardrail, next was avoiding the bayou, then not crashing into the concrete barrier, last, and most importantly, that there were no oncoming vehicles in the opposite lanes of the highway with whom you'd have had a head-on. Props to the witness, as well as the driver who checked on the Trooper's well-being.
Imagine trying to PIT someone at 118 MPH and then you end up in oncoming traffic. Yikes. Probably shouldn't have done that, officer. Now you see how dangerous it is. Will they keep doing it? Yup.
People criticising the officer have to remember two things: a) the police have professional and criminal liability and b) you only die once. The fleeing driver doesn't have any of those constraints and still got caught in the end and nobody died.
@@davidparker9022 if the trooper went through the median like that the perp wouldve, and the oportunity to pit there was tons of traffic on the other side. Not to mention the bridge coming up that the trooper almost flew off

Lurking in the shadows of 16400 miles of Interstate in Arkansas are Chargers seeking their prey. Most are successful. Some are a work in progress. 🎶Fight the good fight every moment, every day, Make it worth the price we pay.🎶
@JonBlack-YT1 true but trooper didnt adapt to the chase, didnt wait for backup or the spike strips he called for. And if i was a trooper and kept getting brake checked like that id stay slightly behind his back corner so if he did hed end up hitting my front corner causing a self pit
Yup. And even after that, all he had to do is ease up on the brake. Front tires were trying to brake and turn both, beyond their traction capability. Unload the brake, they grip again, and you drive out of it.
So, it wasn't just me who thought that. It looked like one solid motion under braking, which said to me it wasn't in response to a sudden swerve from the guy.
Glad this trooper is ok, but he needs some high speed driving training. I normally refrain from armchair quarterbacking, but this was ridiculous. He was overreacting to every little move the perp did which is why he crashed out. The perp was a terrible driver and should have been no match for the overall excellent driving capabilities of ASP troopers.
Agreed. It was frustrating to watch. The trooper appeared to have several good opportunities to PIT, but he turned out to be a bit overly cautious and slow to react.
Nope you're wrong, he's got excellent driving skills, and saved himself from going into the bayou. But then again if you took the time to read the description you would understand that. We’re all watching the same video and he clearly lied to save face and ego.
It was very obvious that this officer had no clue of what he was doing and clearly don't think before he act. Im not at all surprised by his outcome and it was no reason for it period. I guess if the suspect drove off the top of a bridge with a 50 foot drop, this officer would follow immediately with out even thinking about it first. Suppose oncoming traffic was coming at the very time he crossed over into oncoming traffic!!!
Why did this cop slam on his brakes so many times when he could have left the guy slightly behind him with nowhere to go? And then the last time he had the perfect opportunity and then he let the guy push him off the fucking road somehow 🤯
And then the amateur complained Mr. Felon would take off much faster. Why, because he wasn’t dragging his brakes as long, being pilot, and probably has better driving skills . During just isn’t going fast. It is maneuvering your vehicle and using your brakes and acceleration properly.
Gannon is one CRAPPY driver! Total amateur. Accident was completely self-inflicted, the allegation that he was “pushed off the road” is pathetic. Laughable!!!😂
Great video. It's too bad the driver decided to totally and maliciously disregard the health and safety of every other vehicle traveling the same highway. I cannot stand to witness such an attitude. Injury from such a stupid action can ruin lives or cost the loss of life. It's absolutely outrageous. Of course, it all makes sense that the driver didn't have a valid driver's license and probably knew he was going to go to jail. Well, I hope he has to stay there a good long while. I understand this isnt Twitter, or any sort of place to input opinions but when it comes to chases involving difficult vehicles like this charger, I feel law enforcement deserves a better advantage.
Ofc they are the cops get u in any way they can get u and if ur stupid and arrogant enough to run from the cops then the judge is gonna think ur stupid enough to run the trooper off the road cuz you’re already putting everyone else’s life at risk doing everything u possibly can to get away.

My personal enjoyment is seeing that there isn't a "grand theft auto" charge so it's likely he crashed his own vehicle. Even with insurance it wouldn't be covered running from the police. Glad the trooper navigated his way across the oncoming traffic safely.

Admit it. We all knew who the perp was just because the word Charger was in the title.
And we all know where the racism lies when you enter the trooper chasing videos. Lets not kid ourselves.
@jessicabecause3717 I didn't realize that facts and numbers were were racist. Fascinating. Maybe it has to do more with the barbaric urban culture with 8 out of 10 children born in fatherless homes.
When there's a police pursuit, there's a 90% chance the suspect looks like the last one. Noticing obvious patterns is not racism, it's realism.
