As far as I know each boss is programmed in phases, so when the game can't find the correct animation for the knockout in the first phase it just runs nornally, al least some bosses can be confirmed to be killed before their final phase, but those who can't legally the game doesn't change the state of the boss that's why they are still moving

The only solo boss (1 boss instead of multiple) that lasted over 1 hit was the hardest boss in the game, dr.kahls robot lasted an amazing 5 hits!
