    My name is John Roos. I'm the son of Ted Roos. He had his property on Buck Lake, MN. There was a short channel to Cass Lake, MN. He built his house in 1991. He started fishing Muskies in 1967. He didn't catch his first Muskie until 1972. We moved from Crystal, MN to Wadena, MN in 1975. I joined the USMC in 1987. He sold his lake home in 2012, and he passed away in August 2015. I finally caught and released my first Muskie in June 1997. I caught and released four more, but Dad was a Muskie God', in my eyes, until he passed away... He ALWAYS sharpened his hooks! That rod looks great. I got a telescoping one from Tackle Industries this year. Its the only xxh 9" telescoping rod I could find anywhere! I couldn't believe more companies don't make them so I'll have to check out that new one.

    How come you don't use 9"-12" crankbaits or big spoons? I am new to muskie fishing and trying to learn as much as possible. I may be up in Madison on Mendota in a few weeks.

    Ive been watching many of your videos..keep up the great work! You said something in this vid that has me curious: You almost caught a monster in 40 degree water...do you think 40 degrees in the fall is the same as 40 in the spring as far as how they react? I'm just wondering if 40 in the fall means they're still aggressive vs sluggish in the spring. ?

    Lookin to catch my first musky soon, the one spot close enough to me is a river, it’s not super big only 100-200 yards wide. What are some good bets for November musky fishing from shore, sands as said in the video or would it be different?

    You're coming to Mn this week? Pack all the warm clothes you have and then buy some more to bring along because it's been unseasonably cold here. There's been snow on the ground in northern Mn and I'm not sure how far south that snow line is. No snow here in the Twin Cities, yet.

    curious to know, husky vs monster medussa, when would you throw what size?
    also, for the fun of it, since its fall, could we get a video where you guys cast only 2 pounders, mammoth curly sues and 16inch line thru trouts?

    • @TodaysAngler
      @TodaysAngler  6 років тому +1

      I'm too old for the Monster...like the Husky just fine. But to answer your question, generally speaking where muskies eat big food like whitefish you may wish to use the monster bait. But hooking percentage could be a factor. (Lee)

    Some people say color doesn't matter, could you guys talk about color and what your thought process is when choosing please.

    • @TodaysAngler
      @TodaysAngler  6 років тому +2

      Not big color guys, whatever color had the last bite. YOUR confidence matters most.

    • @thatsmallrockshop
      @thatsmallrockshop 6 років тому

      Colour matters big time. Different fish species see different colours on a colour spectrum differently. This also changes with cloud cover water colour and the depth your fishing. There is more science to catching consistent big fish than just dumb luck. Also noise plays a factor if a fish cant see a bait clearly. Then the noise a bait makes in the water gives the fish something to hone in on. Also the speed at which you reel can also play a part in catching fish. Just some food for thought next time you select lure colour, size and shape and noise producing abilities. Think of everything that goes into proper execution of bait production

    • @pinkadam8989
      @pinkadam8989 4 роки тому

      Imo color for musky isn't about matching the hatch as much as being visible (white if clear and sunny, black of murky and dark, chartreuse if murky and bright. Natural if cloudy and clear

    Tranx question.. My buddy got one this summer and his only complaint was the amount of spray off the reel. He said his hand stayed soaked all day. I would think this would not be too comfortable in November. Have you had the same experience? I have a lexa and like it but considering adding a tranx

    • @erikdahl7532
      @erikdahl7532 6 років тому

      I had this exact same problem! Its not the reel, its the line. He needs to get braid that doesnt absorb so much water. I stopped by thorne bros tackle today and asked them and they strung me up with new line and fixed it-better than its ever been before. First day ever that my hand has been dry muskie fishing and it was so much more enjoyable
