- If the gear stick selector or shifter gets stuck in parking position you need the use the emergancy release. This is how to fix the problem on Audi A6 and most likely on every Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat with automatic gear box. Use a small stick, and press the emergency release gently.

good video. I had a similar problem with an Allroad A6 2007 - in this case the plastic pull up rod sheared at the bottom end. The fix was to drill a hole in the bottom of the pull up rod, cut the head off a screw and screw it in upside down. I then replaced the rod and using it as a drill bit managed to join the two parts.
THANK YOU!!! my Audi 2006 A6 Audi will not turn on at all!!! Parked in my driveway and there it has been for a month now. I have had 4 tow trucks come...they do not fit my driveway 7' wide only. Now I can push my car out to front so they can tow to Audi.

Guys, It's a sensor in the transmision module, it's call the hall sensor, there is 4 of them that go bad, A , B, C, and D , but most of the times it's the sensor B.
Hope it can help solve this problem ;)

Niw i need to find the problem what's causing it :-(
Hey KAsper,
Did you find out what was the reason ?
I have the stuck in park problem on my 2008 a8L, i don't see that switch under the tray, any ideas anyone?
You can't see the emergency release switch, but it is located under the ashtray. You have to put a pencil or a small stick or something in the small hole to the right under the ashtray. Don't push to hard. Press gently. The release is a small metal piece that looks like a very small springboard.
How can one permanently fix this problem? Audi quoted me 50k! Have to order part from Germany!( 2005 A6) Is there something one can bypass? Adri
This is only the quick fix for being able to use the car anyway. If you want to fix it it permanently you need to replace some micro switches under the gear selector. I haven't done this.
Wheres the button on a 1999 VW Golf Auto?
What will be the permanent solution for this issue pls reply ..

TO ANYONE READING WHO IS STILL STUCK AFTER WATCHING--- PLEASE CHECK THIS:
Check for an empty fuse @ Position A-10 on the left (driver-side) cockpit fusebox. A is the leftmost column out of those 3, and this fuse is 4th from the bottom in my 2013 Q5. Now here's the kicker, its position is 10 out of 13 in the column, which is completely misleading for my car since Audi's manual only shows TWELVE fuses on that column in my OEM datasheet. Super disappointed in them for flubbing the documentation. Note: if you also have 13 small fuse spaces on column A, then you need to make sure you have a 5A fuse plugged into position 10. Another issue is that, even with corrected datasheets on the internet, Audi does not show the proper fuse description for this position to include the Shift Lock Solenoid. Again. on my OEM manual, it just skips the fuse at position 10 and has something unrelated at Position 9. So, to be safe on Column A, you should have a small 5A fuse plugged into all of the following: Position 8 (Control Module), 9 (Adaptive Cruise Control), 11 (Side Assist), 12 (Headlight Range Control), and 13 (Airbag).
It doesn't work for me ,another solution plz
I'm sorry, this way worked for me, but I don't have another solution. I'm not a professional only a person who found the way to solve my own problem. Hope you can find a way
So complicated to select Drive position in an Audi. In a japanese car, just press the brake pedal and select the D.
;)
