- Tony, Newt, and Trisha look back at a movie that is trying so hard to be like scream but is NOT Scream. In this Podcast / Movie Review they will talk about the ways "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is not like scream. From it being impossible to guess the killer cause there is no real clues to their identity, how it lacks any of the humor or wit from scream, and how its really not a slasher for most of the film. Also its one of Tony's favorite movies.
A year after running over a fisherman and dumping his body in the water, four friends reconvene when Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) receives a frightening letter telling her that their crime was seen. While pursuing who he thinks is responsible for the letter, Barry (Ryan Phillippe) is run over by a man with a meat hook. The bloodletting only increases from there, as the killer with the hook continues to stalk Julie, Helen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.).

Urban Legend was ok too, or maybe not I was pretty young seeing that
i kinda do not get why max even died or the sister...those felt like extra deaths to make it a slasher and i heard they added those deaths after screening the film cause people were bored af cause they were marketing a slasher and basically no real deaths happen besides helen that we care about because barry sucks and your just waiting for his 100% sure fire death...i feel they should of killed ray cause he did run him over...3 main character deaths is all the movie needed make julie final girl..she felt real guilt..end of movie...but then no sequel...killing random people felt weird
My 13 year old self was completely obsessed with JLH and the “what r u waiting for” scene, for obvious reasons
I like how tony and newt can't take a breath and just talk over Trisha. The entire time they're talking over her and each other.
I saw Scary Movie BEFORE this, so I didn't understand what they were parodying when Anna Faris was spinning around yelling "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!"

I remember when this was being filmed, when I was a kid. They filmed it in my hometown, Southport NC. Really cool old coastal town, lots of good seafood, and pirate history. It's close to Wilmington NC, where a TON of TV and movies get filmed. I know recently they have filmed the past two Halloween films there.
You can definitely see why Bridget Wilson turned down Mortal Kombat Annihilation for this masterpiece

So basically in Italian she's describing how great JLH rack looks in those scenes! Nice! Great idea in Tony having her speak the lines to avoid this getting banned. Lol and why is one talking about how HOT Crystal looks in that dress!!! Yum 😛

This has to be my favorite team. Trisha and Tony have really good chemistry and Newt being the third wheel comic relief just works so well. 10/10 would watch again.

Gonna get shit for this probably but - I Know What You Did Last Summer is legit really good and one of my all time favorite horror movies (granted I don't view it as a slasher, I view it more as a thriller).
Damn I had to rewind and listen to Trisha speak Italian over and over like 6 times. She gets so cute when she is trying not to laugh

Not only did the killer get the dead body and all the crabs out of the trunk in broad daylight. He somehow magically got it absolutely SPOTLESS in that short amount of time.
When Trisha says "kawinky dink", I lost it.... great episode. Fantastic episode. I will share.
They later made a third installment to that and they made the fisherman like Jason Voorhees. It was a very surprising twist, to say the least.
So what if it is not Scream ?! This movie is slasher classic for himself. Amazing cast, amazing plot
I'm with you Tony Jennifer Love was goregous in the 90's I still think she is goregous today. Plus I remember my cousins watched this film when I was 8 and it did freak me out lol.

I saw JLH promote this movie on Jay Leno and the audience was full of frat boys who gave her a standing ovation at her predator stance scene
I have a feeling Crystal was suppose to be on the show, but Trisha bopped her on the head and stuffed her in the back room.

Ehhh, I was more into Geena Davis and Winona Ryder.
The old movie they are on about was 'a trip to the moon' by Georges melies. It's a true piece of cinematic history. There's over half a dozen versions to choose from. Everything from fully voice acted and colorized to silent B&W. So you'll probably find one you can stand to watch even though it's from 1902. Even the runtime can differ from 9 to 18 minutes depending on the version. Best of all it's not super hard to find. several versions are available to stream right on Amazon. Anyone interested in film history should see it at least once.
JLH’s hottest appearance imo is in The Tuxedo. she’s particularly bangin’ in that - she awakened some things in me too, Tony. you’re not alone lol.
The first movie for me was House Arrest. No girl in middle school could compare. The second time was in Cant Hardly Wait. No girl in high school could compare. I must say the hottest I have ever seen her in a movie is definitely Heart Breakers. OMG she is freaking hot.

Honestly I prefer the Sequel over the original. Also the fact that nobody seems to notice (or at least they don't mention it) that the scene with Helen running to and banging on the door of the Sisters store is a direct reference to Halloween when Laurie is banging for Tommy to let her in and Michael is closing in on her.

Extremely ridiculous that the Hook Man moved a dead body out of the trunk of the car in a neighborhood during daylight time without being seen, and he is able to clean the entire trunk of the car before Julie and her friends return.

I watched it again after nearly 25 years and remember why it didn't resonate with me like SCREAM did. It was not good. It's filled with flaws and an uninteresting whodunit plot. The crab infested corpse in a trunk in a neighborhood vanishing in broad daylight is just absurd.
But... sure did have some teenage heartthrobs to help carry this mediocre flick.
I think it would have been better if Jennifer Love Hewitt had a mental breakdown due to guilt and was committing these atrocities, however, that may have been pretty silly too.
I didn't know it was based on a book. I bet the book played out a bit better.

Majority of the movie was shot in Southport, NC near Wilmington (home of Screen Gems). It sucks the tax incentives for shooting in NC were cut and starved our state of getting major productions to come in and shoot. Wilmington used to be “the Hollywood of the East.”

It's a great Vampire movie, not on par with Blade but it's entertaining. Has a nice mix of outdated CGI and decent practical effects. A better love story than Twilight. No glittery vampires. Kate Beckinsale is super hot!!!
The franchise is just as cheesy as the Resident Evil movie franchise. Or even The Fast and The Furious.

Only SMG was a WB star in this movie. Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. weren't on TV and J Love's Party Of Five wasn't a WB show. And Dawson's Creek came out the year after this movie. Kevin Williamson grew up on Dawson's Beach and that's why the name is used.
See I thought this film combined Lois Duncan’s book and another teenage horror novel that was popular at the time called “Chain Letter” by Christopher Pike.
I used to read alot of Christopher Pike but never saw that 1

Lois Duncan also wrote that book Killing Mr. Griffin! That’s a good one. The movie they made about that is definitely more in the vain of a Lifetime movie.
I think that if these movies had better actors and tighter scripts, they would work really well... Especially the second movie... Perfect set up for a slasher film.
