- Citizens of Sylacauga, Alabama, are complaining about Haitian immigrants. At a city council meeting, they cited the problems they're having with Haitian immigrants. But one Black Sylacaugan took a stand for the Haitian immigrants.

Do they ask the Asians, Ukraines,Venezuelans, Middle Easterns, Indians how much money and housing, they recieved?
They do but, except Ukranians. The other races would sooner die than complain because a "model minority" complaining makes them a N word so they suffer in silence. A few months ago some brown people asked AA 's to help raise hell on their behalf. The AA community said why y'all dont roll for us that deep. I shit you not they said being loud and protest is against their culture. AA's said then keep up appearances and suffer in silence.our culture is peaceful as well😂😅.
Let the Haitians handle their own business. Let Barbecue defend them!

Lady Boule, He’s telling the truth. The ONLY reason the Yt people of Springfield citizens were saying all of this about Haitians is because they are Black. Point Blank. But the Croatians, Latinos, middle easterners, etc are not getting any resources or causing ANY problems, but only the Haitians??? They are just out right Racist. I am a Black American and of course I do understand why some of us have said we’re not going to defend other Black immigrants that often have such vitriol against Native Black Americans. But still to be truthful, I am still glad he spoke up on the Haitians behalf. It’s not over yet, the way America is going, we don’t know where we may have to go as Black Americans. But by the grace of God, that could be us and we just MIGHT need other people’s advocacy. I mean that and I am certainly not trying to make anyone feel guilty, especially Black Americans. We have gone through enough and continue to do so. That’s the truth.
No one ever mentions the Asian groups that come here and get benefits.

Yes, my current community began being gentrified in 2019. I had neighbors move in much earlier who got a head start. They are hostile, have encroached on my property and threatened me. They are intrusive on my privacy. At this point I'm one of a handful who are not immigrants. Our city hall, police department have been gentrified and are non-responsive. Now the gentrified West Indians are about to be gentrified by Latinos. So I considered move back south like the rest of my family. I watched drive through videos of GA, MS and AL. Nothing seemed to change. Saw towns where there was no supermarket. And a video where a man talked about people disappearing after driving though town. a week later a mother found her missing son and several others who drove through the town were imprisoned and killed.
Also, know that my own family descendant land was stolen in my grandfather's generation, and that land is being overtaken by white government officials. If you look at the map. the bible belt, California and New York, Detroit have the highest population. where does this get us in terms of voting? So, the Southern Experience of new "Black" neighbors is evidently different.
I can digest that logically. But my experience tells me different. My family were the first to move to our NY neighborhood. White's left, white flight. We had doctors, the first circuit court Judge of NYC... a first, dentist, real estate agents, bus drivers, A mix of incomes. It appeared, we had control, except we were gentrified in my mother's generation late 50s and in my generation late 70s and 90s. We had a library, senior and youth centers, several churches, an advanced elementary school, but we were bused. All that made our neighborhood subject to gentrification. Our church was gentrified. our pastor and the membership made decisions like putting their country flags up around the church. My Grandmother was about the only one left. I attended church with her in her later years to hear the church announcements. She noted, though she had church friends, but she had never been voted in for any significant position. Our political representation, also an immigrant who ultimately took a significant political position with another politician who was not "Black" American either.
When I decided to work with the block association, my grandmother introduced my interest. But was frustrated when I was sent to White businesses that remained in the community which were white organized crime. Evidently, the committee had established a comfortable relationship and worked with them without considering them problematic.
I understand the political stagnation the elder is in. He has no political power. Most people in his community work for whites which is overbearing in influencing and limiting their actions. Most youth in the community don't have jobs. He refers to them as the ones riding bikes and stealing. There was not as much thought or resources put into them in decades that many of us lived with stereotypes and no jobs, just welfare. Latino immigration had a spurt the year before TANF. After TANF banks used us as an investment tool. Betting against our keeping the houses we worked multiple jobs to purchase. And when the bad loans given to all Americans failed. Some of us still hung on. The working poor. And so another shake off, 2019. Then the Opportunity Zones, drawn in our neighborhoods. And the Sanctuary cities, we had no idea our communities were. They were not a sanctuary for us. We work to pay bills with no safety net.
I just don't think "Black" immigrants are the answer. They are not being let in free flowing as a solution for us. I learned in Ohio, they are being let in free flowing, and are sent to the DMV to check the voters registration box, and receive drivers permits. Along with Cars, Homes... provisions for all necessities. No rationale, no forewarning. It's spiteful and political retaliation. We as citizens were asked to take them in. Are asked to be patient. While we lose jobs, homes and the necessities to provide for ourselves after taxes.
Yes, they are upset because those people are "black." At the same time, those are newly "Black" people. They did not prioritize "Blackness" until 2019. My West Indian and African neighbors, schoolmates and colleagues always advised me not to call myself "Black," To call myself an American. Now their children and grandchildren are "Black." Remember Wakanda, BLM, Jussie Smollett and his African caste members. They have a nation and a seat at the UN. Earlier whites immigrants are going through now what we have been going through our time here, including immigration since the 1940s. disenfranchisement and disparity. What used to be inconvenient and our problem, "The Black Problem," is now problematic, crisis. The cause is racism and the effect is still racism. This is America.
Black Americans have always been hostile to black foreigners as a result the rift. Poor whites are filling effect of migrants but as political show business they are getting attention and resources their dying towns never got.
All you said was true but, when gentrification started in our mostly international neighborhood most Africans went back to continent in came Hispanic, asian and later white.

Fba have focused on being yellow bone , red bone whilst working for white people but never got anything of their own up and running. That last speaker in the white shirt said it just right! I am from that area and I know you see every kind of race there. That is what I liked and enjoyed about being from there most. The ones who are complaining down there are complaining only about the black appearing immigrants. There have been every other shade of race there since long before my birth and they didn't utter a peep over if they were legally there or not. I too have concerns over what the specific plans are to integrate immigrants into the country is but the specific words that this man spoke are also a concern. I want the plans to be fair across all races, etc. I fear they will be tailored against black appearing immigrants. That is just one step before they retrofit the rules to include black appearing people born in this country.

Right after the haitian revolution Dessaline wrote a letter to the USA to help free Blacks from the USA and also help established a few embassies to help either give resources or migrant a lot of Blacks to Haiti or help as much as they could. There was also a Black American who became a high profile member of the king of Haiti staff name prince Saunders who was born in Connecticut. He was one of the first high profile members before Fredrick Douglass. Even in regards to Fredrick Douglass during the world fair where most world leaders would meet in a fair Haiti hosted when the USA refused to to invite Black Americans to the fair the president of Haiti at the time invited Fredrick Douglass and many other high profile Black Americans to the event which put them on the world stage and started building world connections. You see through out the years Black Americans and Haitis help each other out. One example with this would be a member of the naacp who help stop the occupation in Haiti who name is James Weldon Johnson who spoke out when the USA came to Haiti with the same southerners who are probably descendants of the ones who made the cat rumors who was terrorizing the women and kids during the occupation. Even in recent years Haitians have team up with the naacp and Black organizations to help speak out about anti Black racism. When the George Floyd situation and when Blacks was being killed the Haitian community in New York put money together with some other communities one which was the Korean community and was speaking out against it. I do agree a lot of people have been engaging in behavior which isn’t beneficial to the whole Black community or diaspora at large but the history and actions of the ones who establish both communities over ways the behavior of a few who on some nonsense. What the elder did was what most of us should do speak out or act when we see obvious signs of anti Black racism. I saw this video earlier and agreed with him, and you are exactly right---- that is PRECISELY how the general body of African Americans think. We see BLACK people long before we see Haitians, Nigerians, Zulus, Jamaicans, etc. When Biggie was killed back in the 90s --- a 'brother' was a victim of violence -- not the child of Caribbean immigrants. Marcus Garvey had a lot of followers in Black America because HE was Black with an empowering message. We know who we are --- we always have; part of our culture arose while living directly in the belly of the beast, so it's taught us to see the bigger picture ---- the greater tie that bind. We need to be vigilant about relearning and protecting our unique history and legacy; but we also need to remember what our time here has taught us and not let it be lost to "outsider" ignorance and ethnocentrism.

I only have American Negro on my classification and my grandparents didn't have a classification record because they were American Indians. They had to fight this government to get SS. They can tell that African and Black lie to someone else. We know who we and get treated the same way because of it. Told us how these folks took our lands and made us teach them how to grow food on the land.

The immigration issue that this country is experiencing is a direct result of the US policies they imposed on other countries. The average American continues to vote for politicians that impose policies that affect the livelihood and well-being of individuals in other countries Americans need to hold politicians accountable on the federal level if they want to stop or slow down immigration. The city council, local government, and state government cannot stop the influx of immigrants. Americans needed to demand that federal politicians draft and implement a new immigration policy and stop interfering in other countries governance. The immigration issue will not stop until Americans hold American politicians accountable.

I know many of us, including myself are for delineation. I respect the black man for standing up and speaking the truth. The same people complaining about the Haitians have forgotten about the preferential treatment they received based on their whiteness. In real time, they are witnessing the disappearing middle class drop down to working class. The billionaire class don't care about them and are too busy fighting to become trillionaires. We see their jealously on display. They want the same benefits and help they see Haitians receiving.
