Today I bought the 41 in sub no date. Piece of art. Love it. Your video is THE BEST one out there on the topic of date vs no date sub. All your 5 points were well taken but of course when the Authorized Dealer, texted me yesterday that the watch I had “requested” 3 months earlier had come in (I had not specified which model sub) and that it was the no date…the decision was made for me. I took what I could get, but you know after watching your video and talking it over with my friends last night I walked into the store today and very confidently bought it thanks a lot to your video. I will miss the date function but sometimes fate is in control. Great video definitely agree it’s underrated.
After decade of collecting, I don’t care for a date function, because I have no time to correct the date every other month. Day-date on the other hand is cool, don’t know why. 🤷♂️
I bought a 124060 today on the grey market at a premium. Absolutely no regrets as I can’t stand today’s ADs and the prerequisite of buying 2-3 watches I don’t want or need just to get on a real waitlist. It gives me so much joy and pleasure to look at my wrist I seem to be always checking the time.
I’m overweight and not cool but I went with the 114060 (no date) in December 2017 when I bought it. One thing you touched on too was if you’re a snob you go with the no date. Most snobs own more than 1 watch. My Omega Planet Ocean Chronogrpah has a date. My seiko Tuna has a date. My GShock Frogman has a date. My Yema Superman heritage has a date. The No Date symmetry of the Submariner is gorgeous and breathe of fresh air. It’s nice not having a date to adjust for or have to look at that horrid cyclops. Cheers Tim!
LOL…..seriously funny. Everyone regularly dives to 1000 feet so we need that. And staying down there for weeks we certainly need to know the date. I usually wear my GMT on the other arm (under the dry suit) so I know if it is day or night and in case I am swimming into another time zone.
Drew, I like your BMW, I drive Corolla. Marco Archie keeps on saying BMW garbage while I don’t know what better car they are driving ? If Federico is the one that say BMW garbage, I will take that as challenge for me to upgrade the BMW and buy something better than Ferrari. But if the person say BMW garbage and he drive Honda Civic, that is pure shameless insult .

I have no data Rolex submarine. It’s very good choice because it’s very comfortable for me.. I don’t need a setting date. But I have memory, I know date today but I don’t feel time. Rolex no date show me, how now time. It’s great watch…., of all times.

Your first couple of reasons are kind of weird but so true! I was trying for a good 3 mins to come up with people I met in my lifetime that would contradict your theories here but I just couldn't!! Some of the coolest people I know are all wearing the no-date sub! Others, more ordinary, well-off people of course, just not as cool, would end up with a date version submariner all day everyday for some reasons!

The Submariner is originally a no date watch, so its a Rolex Submariner or Rolex Submariner with a date. Yes Rolex Submariner is just nicer than the Rolex submariner with a date, simple as 1 2 3. Keep that Cyclops eye for the Date Just and DayDate.

I disagreed with your reason that when you pull out your phone time, date and everything is right there, BUT the keyword here is "pull out". With the date already on the watch and the watch is already on your wrist there is nothing else to do other than raise with arm to read what you want to see. I have been wearing dated watches for 50 plus years and I wouldn't buy another watch without the date. The Submariner with date and magnifier is just perfect for this type of watch. It is bold, masculine, strong and functional. YMMV.

The Dakota has nothing to do with Rolex. Dude is mostly on the Central Park south side with the more prestigious Sherry Nederland in the background; the Dakota is on the west side at 72nd Street.
