So glad I could do this for the museum. I will certainly come back when either steam units are running as I have some ideas on capturing video of it in motion
Great video, Tony! Guess I'm going to have to make a side trip to this museum! Love the sound of those old EMDs. They were the sound of my childhood in southwestern Victoria.
Another great vid, Tony, thanks! Have you done any videoing of CP coal trains in the east Kootenays? there's a fine RR museum in Cranbrook too, that i'm sure you know about. Recording of coal loading in Elk valley and the yards in Golden would be of great interest to your fans. Cheers and best wishes.
Thank you for the suggestions, Golden is almost totally a no fly zone for the drone except the south west corner so I will try there once. I am planning to film in the crowsnest pass area in a couple weeks so keep an eye out for those
Well done, Tony! Funny to think that all the times I've been to Edmonton, I've never been to the museum. Will have to make it happen next time. Cheers, Jack
Great video. This musem is on a former military spur track that used to cross 34th st NW to a fueling area to the west. If you follow the old right of way, you can see it curve south and then end. Pretty cool stuff!!
Thanks, yes. The museum would like to reopen the line farther west but the road crossing would require lights and possibly gates an cost they can’t really afford.
@@TonyVRailfanning They really need a sponsor to make it happen. The right of way berm is still in place. It would make the passenger experience that much more with a longer ride and crossing bells and whistles.
@@trainguy7261 The military sold the right of way west of 34 St some years ago. In recent years it has become a dumping ground for spoil from construction projects, the old grade is now buried under a giant pile of dirt. Even if the museum were to somehow get enough money to buy that land it would take a lot of work and an even larger amount of $$$ to put a railroad there again, and that's assuming the current owner would even be willing to consider selling it.
Nice vid. Great shots both drone and on ground. Engine has a really clear horn; nice tone. And the 44 ton GE switcher is a duplicate of the one I drive as engineer on a scenic railroad in central Ohio.
@@TonyVRailfanning It got 3 business cars : CP#1 used by John A. I am "Slow Watching" this video, going back multiple times to various scenes, pressing "pause" and just soaking in all of the detail. 3:16 mark: Given Tony's standard of excellence, it's not surprising to learn that he has a Tilley hat.

@@LowLightMike that’s great Mike, at some point it’s my goal to visit your area and film particularly the abandoned trestles before they completely fall apart. We will have to keep in touch
Alberta needs to build a double track from Fort Mac to the Montana boarder,to haul raw bitumen to the United States to rebuild their crumbling roads and highways.4 GE AC6000CW and about 370 open top hopper cars, this should happen now that premier has invoked the “sovereignty act”this would be good business. The up side is less refining and a cleaner northern Alberta.
Well done Tony, thanks for spending the day with us. Come on back when steam is running for more fun. - 👍

Thanks Tony. Great video.
Your welcome, great group of volunteers there
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this one . Thank you and well done. I need to visit one day.
Thanks John, this was something I have wanted to do for them for a couple years now. I hope it brings them more visitors
Tony as usual a great video. I have visited the museum a few times.
Thank you, great group of people there
Awesome video once again Tony. We enjoyed watching and have a wonderful rest of your weekend.(Steve)
Thank you! You as well
@@TonyVRailfanning you are welcome
Drone makes it a pretty nice Z scale layout. Thanks for the ride.
Your very welcome
What a great handsome experience. Nice they let you do all the video work. Good vid and thx for sharing.
Glad you liked it Ken, was a fun day for sure

Thanks for your time and effort Tony :-) Must have been fun doing all of the components for this video and then editing it; great product 🙂
Thank you, yes it was a lot of fun to edit. Had to be creative with my video taken inside the cab
last went here in 1984 when working on a ranch in the area.
Its a great museum, i just wish they had more tracks for travelling on
Beautiful museum, they now also have cn ex bcol 4618,c40-8m. I got the model from rapido train with that #
@@petere4540 yes they’re very lucky to get one of those Cowl units
Wow , almost missed this one...excellent
Some beautiful class
Thank you! Cheers!
As always, great video there Tony! Love this place, been to it a lot when i was living in Eddy haha
Lol, believe it or not this was my first time on the property. I’ve driven by a few times but never went in.

It’s a great place, they have a huge collection of rolling stock most of it in pretty good condition. Thank you
Clearly you had an awesome day Tony!
For sure! Getting into the cab for a ride was a highlight 😀

Thank you, that’s really neat that you operate a switcher like that. This stuff fascinates me.
You should come to Québec's Exporail, Canada's biggest railway museum.
I would love to go, one day I’m sure I will make it out that way. I’ve been to Montreal once but was there on my honeymoon so not railfanning LOL

The do have a rail line up there but I do agree it could be used alot better than it is.
What's going on with 6060
The boiler is being rebuilt but funding and manpower to do it is slowing the process
Of all things to switch with , an f unit
Lol, and they just got a Dash 8 cwl unit donated by CN so a very nice collection
I remember the F units on CN and CP passenger trains in the 70s. Hey Tony, I won't be going to Alberta next month due to fires 😞
Thanks for watching. I suspect the fires will be out soon. We are expecting rain over the next few days
