I'm. Fine with watches that take inspiration from a classic watch for their design language. But I'm not a fan of homage watches that are mimicking everything about a watch bar the name/logo.
Just wanted to correct you in that the bezel insert on this V5 is sapphire and not ceramic (which is on the V3 models)
Hey, awesome vid as usual. I think you are right, an inexpensive 'homage' making you decide to get the real deal is probably the highest form of praise that can be realistically offered for the 'homage'. Did you already decide which version of the Speedmaster you want to get?
I think the reality is I'll be hunting for a good deal on a secondhand model on ebay first and foremost. If I can get a classic styled one, smaller size, without the subdials rotated 90 degrees I think I'd be more than happy.
I think a lot of decisiveness around homages centres around why one wears a watch...
Is it to potentially let others know that you have the financial capacity to purchase an Omega? Or do you want what's on your wrist to reflect a storied heritage?
Or, do you simply care about the design?
Personally, the Pagani Design moonswatch is the only one i would genuinely consider purchasing from this brand. I don't think a genuine moonswatch is easily available, and I have my eyes firmly set on a Grand Seiko in the luxury watch realm
Nice to see Munich in the backdrops :) I bought a Moonswatch (Neptune) in the Munich Swatch boutique last December, only to find it didn't scratch my Speedy itch enough and I ended up buying the real thing in January. Definitely the right way to go I would say.
Which model did you go for?
@@ImpulsiveWatches classic Hesalite and steel caseback Moonwatch Professional. Definitely the way to go for the first one I think; I've added another since and have a long wishlist of Speedies!
