Chopper can find strange toys to play with ie...pants! Lol! Mom voice too! So glad spring is here at last. Pretty rocks. Thanks for sharing. So many pretty colors.
So happy to see a brand new video from you Kim, gorgeous finds! I pray you are doing well and healthy again. I'm so afraid that if I were to make it there, I would be dragging two 5 gallon buckets and a backpack full, and still be looking for more, but I would sure try!
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: That first big multi colored jasper was something else. I can see where a person could get spoiled hunting on the Yellowstone River. Exceptional specimens!
I don't know how you find such beautiful rocks out of everyone on you tube you have the best rocks . I always love watching your video's and would like possibly buy some of you agates. Keep up the rock hounding and the video's . Your huge fan keith.
I love the intro and the other snippets of your furry children. I loved all the agates; the petrified wood; the conglomerates. What I really loved were all the beautiful jaspers. So many colors. Jaspers are my friends. They always polish and never disappoint. Keep having fun and you have the best rock hunts ever. Woof to Chopper! Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
* You found so many Fabulous Stones with such Great designs in them. Surprised you ever left until you had turned over every rock in the area.. Crazy Lace & multi-colored jasper. Just WOW ! ! !
I can't think of any rockhound that has a better eye for finding great rocks. I think you would walk through the Sahara desert and find jasper and agate while everyone else was just finding sand. Thanks for the great video.
Wow!! Absolutely gorgeous finds there! From the bamds, the patterns, and colors, everything you showed us was spectacular! Can't wait for my trip there in September! Thanks for sharing!
Wow beautiful jaspers. It is finally melting here in Saskatchewan. Hope it warms up soon. Want to go hounding so much. Its been a loooong winter Thanks for taking the time to make this video Kim. Loved todays finds. 👍
That baculite is unreal!! Looks like mother of pearl or something metallic! Just an awesome find. I really love all of the smalls, they can be just as amazing if not more than the big rocks. Always too many to pick a favorite.... Great rockhounding weather too! 😎 Chopper out playing catch the goose! 🪿🐕 🤣
Phenomenal finds! I swear that you find The Best jaspers on the Yellowstone River, just amazing. You also found some incredible agatized wood and the agates, TSA and fossils were awesome too. Thanks for sharing Kim!✌️🤠🤘
Awesome, what a great way to start my morning, coffee and a new video with your hounding trip! Like the train whistle in the background too . Sure looks like you all are going to find some beauties this summer for sure .. The Yellowstone is letting go of her beautiful material 👍😁 Thanks for sharing....😊 PS: that little Baculite is going to be crazy cool when prepped! 👌 Have you ever cut an Ammonite or Baculite down the center, the interiors are so cool.... I use a 6" saw and thin blade for that task...
Amazing finds as always! My husband and I are traveling from Minnesota through Montana Mid May, I sure hope to find some nice rocks. You male it look so easy. Lol. I'm sure many many hours of work.
Hi Montana Rock Mom, I have been watching most of your videos so far and all your finds are spectacular. I am from Canada and will be visiting Billings for the first time in May to go rockhounding on the Yellowstone river. I’m travelling alone and I was wondering if you would be interested meeting up and rockhounding together? I’m so excited to rockhound and I hope to find some amazing agates and finds to take back with me. I hope to hear from you and if not rock on. 😊 All the best, Ranelle
I didnt know you could find Oregon "Jade" on the Yellowstone. The dark emerald green jasper. I wonder if these Yellowstone jaspers are related to our Troutdale formation. I will have to look up the prehistoric floods. The specimens are so similar.
I think I watched another of your videos where you had found a bacculite or two along the Yellowstone (and other videos where you hunted for ammonites) , but it's both amazing and a bit perplexing that the soft iridescent (aragonite?) exterior doesn't get pummeled off tumbling around in the river. It's great you can find these, but the condition of them is way better than I would expect in this environment. Maybe they are working out of the riverbank only a short distance upstream?
The baculites and ammonites, as well as other fossils, are usually inside of concretions (septarian nodules) here. The concretions usually erode out of the hillside formations and roll onto the river gravels. When they crack open after falling and you find it relatively quickly after, you can find the shell in pretty nice condition. The Best ones are when you crack open the concretion yourself, seeing the fossil for the 1st time since it settled in the mud and became fossilized millions of years ago.
@@MontanaRockMom Thanks - that makes sense. I haven't been to MT since I was a teen (about 100 years ago!), but you have a great site to hunt, and though I normally don't get too excited about petrified wood, all of the specimens you find are really unique and high-end. Appreciate you sharing all the great videos.

I usually learn best by watching a video that explains geology in layman's terms. Here's a video that helps explain how sedimentary rocks form...ua-cam.com/video/NygkD8uATng/v-deo.html
I know this is one of your older hunts but I can watch this over and over , those finds where spectacular and the jaspers are so vibrant❤

That agatized pet wood is so pretty! Also, what sprayer do you use? It seems much better than the ones we take on our hunts!

Hi MRM
Do u find opals sometimes?
No, not on the river.
I think you have a better eye than Theo! 👍🏻
I need his height...he has a much better vantage point, lol. And he can carry so much more!
Some times the best ones to find are small.
Absolutely 💯 %
How many hours of searching does it take to make a 15 min video
