You two never fail to be delightful! I was so pleased to find Rachel plans to kit up A Tisket A Tasket, the lovely new Lila stitches, and so many other favorites on Sue's fabric. I don't have an LNS so these kits simplify things tremendously. Loved the different ideas for Maynia. Wishing you both loads of happy stitches!!

I am a morning person as well and feel it is my best time of day to be productive. Rachel, you certainly get a lot done as my orders have been shipped more promptly than I ever expected! I recently purchased the Owlsmoor Cottage kit and it arrived so quickly and was just perfect! I squealed when I opened the beautiful package! Also, I love Lila's Studio designs and was so glad you showcased her a bit! Thank you both for all you do!!

I recently found your channel and binged every episode. Each one gets better and better. But when you added "Drunks on Bicycles" theme music to the end of episode 34 when Sue couldn't figure out how to turn off the video (and Rachel was modeling ornaments), I was literally laughing out loud. My husband even walked over to see why I was laughing. If you ever needs a phrase for a drinking game (mine would be a cold Coke) my vote is every time Sue says, "Game changer." 😂 Keep up the great work! Two thumbs up! 👍👍

Crabapple Hill is great. I have done two quilts with the embroidery. They will sell to you to put in your online store I would think. You do heat set the crayon but use a paper towel to not ruin your iron with the wax. It becomes permanent. I will send you pictures of mine.

It was lovely stitching with you today. In reference to wax. Rachel, I’m 100% on board with your suggestion to only wax the very end. It will not coat the rest of the floss as you pull it through though. Quilting thread can be waxed with reckless abandon. When using floss, the cotton fibers are very short and have a tendency to fray at the very end regardless of the size of the needle you’re using. Many silks will also fray. Waxing the entire length of cotton or silk is unnecessary and will destroy any shininess the mercerized cotton might have or the silk naturally has. It also changes the color and puts this dusty haze on the floss.
I have found the best way to wax the end is to use your thumb, press the last two inches of floss/silk into the flat side of your waxer. Pull the floss out and repeat. Pinch the waxed portion of floss between your thumb and index finger as you pull it through a couple of times. This will impregnate the wax into the fiber giving it strength where it needs it most-the end. The end with the wax will be cut off eventually and there will be no frayed fibers left as you stitch.

A great way to keep your thread from knotting while stitching, is to run the thread over a dampened sponge, just prior to use. It wets the thread and then dries in seconds and dries straighter. I learned this tip from Jean Farish in one of her early floss tubes. I’ve been doing it ever since and rarely have knotting. I took a regular kitchen sponge and cut it to the size of the smallest Tupperware type of container. (The kind for a bit of dressing for a “lunchbox”. The sponge fits inside and puffs up to the top so I open it and run the thread across the top just before using. It takes a second or two. Very easy. I keep the air free top on when not in use and don’t have to re dampen the sponge very often. Stays damp a long time. This water trick and keeping the length of the thread less than 18 inches long works like a charm. No more knots.

The bisornu SAL sounds like fun. My alterations on Maynia is to stitch on the remaining Maynia starts from the previous years on the days I started the project. I can only start a new project if I completed the project started on that day on a previous Maynia. It makes me bring out the WIPs from the bottom of the basket and give them some time to rediscover why I loved them.
Thank you for the suggestion of fabrics for my A Savior's Praise. I love stitching it on the new fabric choice.
I use a glass milk bottle I found under my grandmother's house for my orts. Since she taught me to stitch, I thought it was appropriate.

We have a covid collie. She was born Oct. 30 of 2020. She is our 4th collie and definitely different from the others. We weren’t able to socialize her like we did our other dogs. She is great in the house but is an issue with other dogs and takes a bit to warm up to people she is meeting. Our other dogs went to markets and school yards as pups and were well socialized. When we got Lizzie I was doing palliative care for my mother for the first 6 months and even once she was fone we had high covid rates here so going too far from home was not possible. She will learn but it is going to take some patience.

I totally agree with what you just said! I came back to stitching after 35 years and started on 14 ct which was lovely with my glasses on and now I can easily stitch on 36 ct with my same glasses on! If I stitch in anything higher or do any beading I will add a layer of magnifying glasses on top! My hubby has to laugh every time but that’s ok! 🤣😉 love your fabrics ladies and thanks for all you do! Your embroidery is so pretty are you going to watercolor inside of the stitching? I have before and it’s so pretty, it’s lovely either way! Blessings💖

Great video once again! Bennigan and I watched it together--he's my ever faithful stitching partner/dog. Two years ago, my school shut down during spring break for the last 9 weeks of school. I taught at home then had the entire summer at home. When I returned to school in the fall, B would sit in my lap when I got home (all 65lbs of him) and cry and cry for a good couple of nights. It took a bit of time for him - and me - to adjust! We always love the breaks (like this week-spring break) when he can be my "stuck like glue" partner :). Only 8 weeks until summer and the longest break of them all!
I love ALL of your sal ideas! I've never done a biscornu, but have wanted to . . . a sal is a great motivator! I'll have to start looking around at patterns! The tomato book for Maynia is an AWESOME idea and I'm totally doing it!!!! Christmas in July - love it. I didn't do it last year and totally regretted it this Christmas when I had NOTHING to put out or to gift. This will be perfect! Love it all!

I always enjoy your videos. Rachel your dog at the beginning had me cracking up. Sue for the thread tangling my sister told me when you take thread off a spool you put the top of the thread put it through the needle and then knot the end where you cut it off the spool. I was listening to Alex Anderson today for National Quilting Weekend and she said the same thing. She said it’s like a rope if you run your hand down a rope it is smoother than if you run your hand up a rope. Hope that helps. It has to do with the twist of the thread.
Rachel for Christmas in July I would like to do the ornaments you showed before that you put in the lacy wooden frames you sell. What pattern was that? I loved those.
So many beautiful new patterns, so hard to choose. I never get bored I could listen to you both for another hour. Have a great two weeks.

This is off topic but I’ve been wanting to mention this for a while and keep forgetting. Or maybe I’ve already mentioned it and have forgotten. ( ugh, memory and old age suck. ) Anyway, When I see Sue tilt her head back to look at the screen thru her bifocals, reminds me of the same problem I’ve had. But from experience, by constantly tilting my head back to see close up, I ended up with Occipital nerve pain. It was bad but I got thru it. I’ve had progressive lenses for years and love them but adding computer glasses to my life, for up close work, is such a life saver!! Check into them!! I’ve got you Sue!!
