Thank you for sharing. I'm getting ready to do a carb clean on an older 318 which I purchased 2 years ago, with just under 2,000 hours. With this age and hours, its hard to tell if the lines, pump, pickups etc are original, but the tractor overall seems to run well, with the normal amount of oil consumption. I am a firm believer in preventive maint, so plan to change out all of these components. Your video is well done, and I thank you again. P.S. My reason for going into the fuel syst right now is due to a surging issue which cropped up all at once. Reading up on it, carb cleaning was the #1 recommendation. After thinking it through, fuel line deterioration and pickups were first thoughts, along with replacing the pump as well. Again, my thanks to you. I think it will run as it should after these repairs.
Thanks, another common issue that causes surging is intake manifold leaks. The intake manifold is two pieces and can sometimes develop leaks where the two halves are joined together.
As mentioned in the video, it’s 1/4 Tygon tubing, you can find that at most lawn and garden centers or places like Amazon and eBay. It is not a John Deere specific item.
The metal 90°elbow fitting for the reserve side that goes through the grommet ...... what is the part number... you said am54051 that is for the strainer
I didn’t replace that part in this video, and unless it’s damaged or badly corroded it shouldn’t really need to be replaced as there is no filter/strainer on it. Nonetheless the part number should be M65796.
Totally different tractor than a 318. Your fuel line will come out of the bottom of the tank. There’s also a shutoff valve under there where the line comes out.
This is the type of video that will be helping JD owners for many years! Thanks for posting!
Thanks!

@@outdoorpowerhouse Thank you for that. I'll definitely look at it!
Very informative, thank you.
How did you free up the hydraulic valves? I have one stuck down… tried magnet, wd40, tapping… no luck
Thanks, very helpful to me.
Thanks for watching!
Furthermore I’ve tried forever to push the new grommets into the tank and it appears to be totally impossible???
Thanks
Does the fuel line after the pump need to be rated for pressurized?
These are low pressure systems, regular rubber fuel line is fine.
Hi thanks for the video. What is the part number for the new fuel line or if not JD (it is yellow) what did you use? New to swapping fuel lines.

Where do you order your parts from? I’m going through an older John Deere 316.

Great video… can that yellow hose be used for the entire fuel system?
I wouldn’t recommend it for the entire fuel system as it’s not nearly as abrasion resistant as regular fuse hose.
@@outdoorpowerhouse thanks for responding and the tip... how is the 318 running these days
It’s running good, it’s been good all summer. Will be switching it over for winter duty soon.
When you replaced the fuel lines; was there a check valve in the reserve filter that goes in the tank?
No, there was no check valve.

Also with the tank off it is a good time to replace the tranny site glass line.
Fuel filter before pump maybe? I would imagine you could potentially hurt the pump this way
As shown is how John Deere did these from the factory.
Yeah I only have one fuel line. I’m working on a 79 314. It’s only running off carb cleaner..
