You basically summarized all the problems and drawbacks i have with DanDaDan, tho i must say that altough you have a good point regarding Okarun, Seiko and Aira, i think their problems are a little different other than just "lacking a background", atleast for me. Altough i agree that Seiko should be fleshed out, a background depth is not the obligatory path imo, i just wanted her relationship with the goofy teenagers group that she takes care could be a little more "sentimental"? Like it's evident she cares about them in her own way, but i wished she could have some deeper relationships and dynamics with some of them, like Okarun for example. The way Seiko was threated until now feels like she's the NPC of a videogame, especifically the ones that guards your HQ and awaits for your return from battles. The fact that she's absent from basically all the battles until now really bothers me 2, you could argue that it's because she's too OP due to her vast knowledge of the spiritual world, but we are shown in EP 3 that regardless of that, she's still vulnerable to surprise attacks and strong spirits, like Turbo Granny could kill her there if she wanted to, so there's no excuse. Even if that was totally the case, then why not make Seiko fight the Aliens? Ik the series estabilished they are connected to the Youkais in some way or another, but similarities doesn't mean they are the same. So it could be a good way to make her have a run for her money. In Okarun's case i think he doesn't need a background depth at all, it's easy to understand how he became to be his earlier self in the story, and the stuff about his character is self development and the development of his relationship with Momo, so there's really no need to touch on his background more unless you wanna show something about him we didn't know until now, which doesn't seem to be the case. I actually think that the problem of his parents being absent in the story is that it makes the world of DanDaDan feel kinda unrealistic, like there's no people outside of the main cast, not even their family members. You don't have people questioning why this silly goofy group of teenagers are basically living in the house of this beauty granny, or why they are always living some really strange situations and getting wounded pretty badly. (This makes it sound like Seiko is a gangleader wtf). It can get really jarring in Aira's case, where considering her background, her father would absolutely wanna know why she's getting herself in so many troubles. *Especially about the school underwear incident.* I think the author could get around this easily, especially in Okarun's case where he could make his parents be negligent or something like that. Hell you could even use that to deepen his relationship with Seiko if you wanted to. She could notice the lack of care that he gets from his parents and start threating him more like a son (or grandson) in her own way, this could justify the absent of his parents in the story and show more of Seiko's Motherly side. "But the focus of the story isn't about that" I know, i'm not saying the author should focus on the families and the entire world reaction about Youkais and Aliens, just flesh them out a bit more to the point where they aren't a weight in the story anymore. And about Aira, personally, i don't really think she needs a background depth either, because we've already known a little of her past in the Acrobatic SIlky arc. Which kinda explains why she acts the way she acts, her father is a widower so it's safe to assume he spoiled Aira a lot, and you combine that with all her simps at school and ya got present Aira. It's easy to make the connection, she's a pretty simple character and there's no need to explore more of that. Tbf i think she DESPERATELY needs a development. I think in this case you've slept considerably on Momo. She's the only one on the group that posses a mysterious background regarding her parents and powers, and that still wasn't answered to this day. It could be something linked to the finale of the series ofc, but it's still strange that the author didn't do a simple glimpse on this yet. I'm sorry for the wall of text, i just really like talking about this series, be it it's strong or weak points. OBS: I'm still on Chapter 73, so who knows, this could change.
I really hope " Orb on the movement of earth" will win anime of the year award. What an amazing anime Dan Da Dan is a good shonen show but orb on the movement of earth (senien) popularity is masked by Dan Da Dan. I really hope ppl give it a shot its an ongoing series. It would be same as JJK vs Vinland saga situation again where JJK won. Having said this I don't wanna discredit Dan Da Dan, its a very amazing show but there is a better one this season which ppl have barely heard of.
It's a good manga. The adaptation was good but....the action was kinda boring. And the sound track too. If the anime adaptation was released at the beginning of the year it wouldn't be this overrated and that's facts
Dandadan does have a lot of potential to be a legendary series with gigantic impact and staying power, but will author be able to capitalize on said potential. This series is exceptional at hooking the audience and keeping their attention with the crazy and unpredictable things that occurs in the story that makes things interesting as stated in this video. I agree that if the plot is just finding and getting back Okarun's spiritual jewels by fighting random individuals throughout the story using the monster of the week formula like this is a peculiar game of Where's Waldo does seem pretty cheeks; especially if all this wild goose chasing doesn't lead to anything that would progress the story in a good and interesting direction. This could lead to the story getting fumbled easily if the author doesn't stabilize Dandadan's plot before it drags on for too long in my opinion. I just hope the author knows what they're doing with what's being built up soo far, I wish the series good luck.
i found the season 1 anime of Dandadan to be a quite enjoyable watch, it was pretty funny, i liked the dynamics between the main characters, and i didnt find the Romcom aspects of it too exhausting. I completely agree its not the next big thing, though people feel super bandwagony about whether they hate it or not. Like the sexualisation of minors is weird, but its not abhorrently offensive to watch, i mean its honestly quite tame for a lot of anime (not that i think its a good thing in the first place). Overall it was a fun watch for season 1 and an anime id watch again to have a light and fun good time with some friends over.
I think the problem ppl are having is that they are thinking far too critical about this anime it's a parody at heart and pokes fun at all the plot armor other animes have it's meant to be an easy watch at best
@Dr.Zuess. Nah, it isn't a parody, nor does it make fun of the plot armor in other anime. It's just a regular shonen series with goofy moments & horrible plot armor. It's nothing like Gintama, OPM, Medaka Box or Spy x Family
Its good to see an analysis of Dandadan. The most annoying thing about the story is the lack of backgrounds (as in, family lives) for the character of Okarun. There is clearly some form of mystery surrounding it, so it should be worth the hype.
Not gonna lie I was little worried here I didn’t mind, black clover 100% see his criticism of it . But I can get behind never give up and always rely on your team. And honestly, Damdan got me back in to read manga weekly agin . And I really do love your videos and I love listening to you so I was worried you about the rost the shit out of this show. I agree with some of your criticism. But I’m happy you don’t completely hate it
A lot of people seem to ignore that much of Dandadan was written in a free flow format to fight against writer’s block. This is why it seems disconnected. The later arcs are far more grounded especially with the introduction of Saint Germain
He likely wont until it gets an anime, that being said, if he did before it gets an anime I'd totally be up for it. Rudo is a really cool mc for a shonen.
Dandadan should've been over in 4 episodes. But then they decided to come up with an asspull for Turbo Granny to come back into the story as bootleg Kon. This is clearly a show that's meant to be seen as an episodic comedy
As an avid manga reader, while I disagree with very few of your complaints, I do agree with most of your critiques of the series, and I think this is a very good critique video that covers most of its issues in a fair and valid way.
@TriggeredSenpai it's a controversy going on with momo constantly being SA'D in the show that adds nothing to the plot whatsoever alongside the whole cliffhanger scene with her in the sauna with the old men.
@@TriggeredSenpai imo, those scenes are to show real problems in the real world...if u look closer you'll see no male role models that are positive until the second to last arc that got written. anyway good review brother stay blessed

Tbh every anime gets overhyped on their debute to the anime community. Great examples are : Frieren, chainsaw man and Solo Leveling I won't say Dandadan is overhyped- it's because it feels different from other animes. Next year it's gonna die down a bit as more animes are coming in: Sakomoto Days mostly which will be overhyped as well- it's just how it is

No disrespect to Yokinobu san but he's... not the mangaka who specializes in crafting story but I could say his drawing is great on par with some of the greatest but the story is while not boring and very fun. it is not that new. I enjoy it a lot and would consider it one of my favorites but it surely have flaw and I will not deny it. I would rate Dandadan story in the same rate I gave boku no hero and Jojo. Imho Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man and JJK (before culling game) have my 8.5/10 rate. While I would give boku no hero, jojo and Dandadan 8/10 rate. i agree with the sexualisation argument, but the romance carries this series for me, in my humble opinion it is a perfectly written romance, and a very well written action manga while the trope of "do this and that and you become more powerful innit" is pretty commonly used, i feel like it makes sense due to the spiritual theme of the series. idk so much about the spirals thing, but saying outloud a name for your attack that truly deep down means something to you, so that you can unleash all your energy on it, actually makes alot of sense for me. the main battle theme for a while in the series now has been aliens vs yokai, so itd make sense why the main cast is teaming up with yokai to fight against aliens, atleast that makes sense for me also i feel like youre undermining the development of certain characters a LOT, especially momo, seiko, and turbo granny momo always felt alienated due to her grandma being a spirit medium, and her being made fun of for doing that good luck ritual on the way to school, that she unconsciously started suppressing that weird side of her, but when she met okarun, she finally started slowly and slowly letting it out, slowly realising how much she likes him as more of that weird side gets uncovered. seiko was always trying her damnest to protect momo, even if it meant going to extreme decisions. however as she slowly met and connected with the rest of the cast, she started being more open and accepting, at just the evil eye arc, completely trusting okarun with the decision to protect the evil eye. we also see her befriend turbo granny, as we never saw her having any other close friends turbo granny went from this aggressive yokai, who would on a whim attack anyone who crossed her territory, to this supporting character, who is willing to stay by her companions' sides at all times, guiding them, helping them train, she even risked her own life on the whim of "ive got luck on my side" when she decided to stay with momo in the cursed trunk that was being destroyed. also one last thing id like to add about momo and okarun, okarun being this otaku that had been bullied his whole life, the INSTANT momo stood up for him in chapter one, it was already decided within him he'd fall for her. however, as for momo, she was having a hard time trying to accept her feelings for him, and this emotional connection growing only just kept being shown over and over again, especially at the end of the alien invasion arc, just the simple "love ya" momo had written on a CARD for okarun, even with its ironic/friendly-ish tone, was enough to absolutely emotionally devastate both of them, and its those exact moments that makes their love feel so genuine and wholesome, the fact that they both truly care and love for eachother, but cant muster up the courage to express it, those awkward moments where momo tries to get okarun to confess, is the cutest thing. and ofcourse- the finale of this comment. chapter 159. okarun confesses, that was the absolute final straw momo needed for her heart to snap, to truly realise that she loved okarun and okarun loved her, the INSTANT she heard that confession she dropped the shy approach she had, filled with reassurance and relief, telling okarun to confess to her again properly once they both got out of the cursed trunk safely. (ofcourse, even in the next arc the author is still blueballing us lol) anyways, that was my take on this, i am writing this with no ill intent at all, and id simply like to hear your thoughts on my opinions.
"why is the author sexualizing minors" first manga/anime? highschool aged characters are sexualized all the time b/c they're sexual beings. Honestly I hate Dandadan but that's the least of my concerns
@@TriggeredSenpaiif you're going to critique something at least give it a watch first before you make 30 minute hour videos about this shit is the same thing you did with bleach look how much hate you got from that I get it I don't watch anime for lolis and all this stupid ass s*** I only watch anime for Action blood and gore storytelling character development that's it what's the point of view critiquing something without even giving it a watch first that's like saying me buying 3,000 popsicles in eat them and tell you it's good when it's terrible
Good job bro. But u gotta recognize when certain things are simply part of the authors expression. Dandadan made it clear very early on that the sexual elements are going to be a big part of the series. Critizing it for being there kinda misses the point.
Apprentiate it, but just because the author intentionally did something doesn't make it acceptable or passable. It can still be an issue. R. Kelly has intentionally written & created songs where he was referencing having sex with underage girls or grooming them. And once everyone found out, they got his ass outta here.
I guess I just don't agree with the notion that a show/manga being highly regarded or well-praised but not living up your expectations is a valid criticism of the work (lord knows I felt that same way bout JJK). A work of fiction being flawed doesn't prevent it from being a masterpiece nor does it mean it's necessarily overrated. At the end of the day, we should be enjoying these things for what they are rather than what we think they should be.
@jghifiversveiws8729 So you want people to be bots & not have opinions? Because that's basically what your saying Also, if something is flawed, it's not a masterpiece. You can still think it's a masterpiece, but you'll just be wrong

*Especially about the school underwear incident.*
I think the author could get around this easily, especially in Okarun's case where he could make his parents be negligent or something like that.
What an amazing anime
Dan Da Dan is a good shonen show but orb on the movement of earth (senien) popularity is masked by Dan Da Dan. I really hope ppl give it a shot its an ongoing series. It would be same as JJK vs Vinland saga situation again where JJK won.
Having said this I don't wanna discredit Dan Da Dan, its a very amazing show but there is a better one this season which ppl have barely heard of.
"Dandadan is carried by its creativity " thats the best critques ive seen in a while
It's a good manga. The adaptation was good but....the action was kinda boring. And the sound track too. If the anime adaptation was released at the beginning of the year it wouldn't be this overrated and that's facts

Appreciate it brodie 👌💯
People dont know what overatted meaning for its not like its bad its just like you people rate this anime too much
The review was spot on triggered
I like this animes I don’t really think Thier that overrated but I don’t know it’s really anyone opinion and I respect it
i found the season 1 anime of Dandadan to be a quite enjoyable watch, it was pretty funny, i liked the dynamics between the main characters, and i didnt find the Romcom aspects of it too exhausting.
Love love love the video! I always wanted to get into the anime, but the sexualization makes me want to reconsider. Keep up the great work 💗
I just find Dandandan exhausting to watch and impossible to care about. 4 out of 10 for me at the absolute best.
I genuinely enjoy the show quite a bit but the anime community is in their glazing Dandadan arc
Let them be for a while - after all there are some re: zero glazer out there trash talking on every show which isn't re:zero- soooooo

I enjoyed dandadan ngl but kagurabachi has too much potential and so underrated 😭😭
lol at underrated
Gachiakuta is underrated.
Its good to see an analysis of Dandadan. The most annoying thing about the story is the lack of backgrounds (as in, family lives) for the character of Okarun. There is clearly some form of mystery surrounding it, so it should be worth the hype.
What shows do you like? i do like that your doing more critical stuff but i just want to know what shows you actually like

I agree with some of your criticism. But I’m happy you don’t completely hate it
A lot of people seem to ignore that much of Dandadan was written in a free flow format to fight against writer’s block. This is why it seems disconnected. The later arcs are far more grounded especially with the introduction of Saint Germain
oh no the overated statement started dandadan in a come up manga sales abt to go to the roof

He likely wont until it gets an anime, that being said, if he did before it gets an anime I'd totally be up for it. Rudo is a really cool mc for a shonen.

Yeah I think people just like the chaotic things that happen in the manga it's just like chainsaw man
Dandadan should've been over in 4 episodes. But then they decided to come up with an asspull for Turbo Granny to come back into the story as bootleg Kon. This is clearly a show that's meant to be seen as an episodic comedy

I am enjoying the show but I do feel like it can sometimes overhyped.
The show reminds of how when Chainsaw Man came out every episode was being priased as some kind of masterpiece which annoyed me.
Tbh every anime gets overhyped on their debute to the anime community. Great examples are : Frieren, chainsaw man and Solo Leveling
I won't say Dandadan is overhyped- it's because it feels different from other animes. Next year it's gonna die down a bit as more animes are coming in: Sakomoto Days mostly which will be overhyped as well- it's just how it is
Entire channel consists of trashing shows by outlining the negatives only lol you can’t rate a series like that😅🤷♂️

dandadan is just mid it has too much fanservice and goofy scenes that serves zero purpose other than to "shock" the viewer cheap brainrot humor, its literally an show that got carried by youtube content creators and had heavy marketing behind it. It doesn't have a proper power-system and there is so much flaws all over the places, Ken is an annoying character and an simp which has been done billions of times in other animes. Calling it good is an overstatement, this is nothing new and is just another "absurd" anime like Shikanoko.
There are an anime/manga that I will give 9/10 but I can't remember it name I only remember it's story faintly. (Maybe it's Berserk?)

Even though Luffy screams at the start of every episode that he wants to be the pirate king and find a one-piece that doesn't matter if he's not making any effort towards doing it. One piece recent chapters have been kinda slow, so it's understandable.
Let the anime be an anime- why do yall have to blah blah blah on a new anime? Seriously i hate how the anime community is seperated into small groups- while before we could enjoy a show for being what it is- let it be overrated for a whilee its in its debute???
i agree with the sexualisation argument, but the romance carries this series for me, in my humble opinion it is a perfectly written romance, and a very well written action manga
while the trope of "do this and that and you become more powerful innit" is pretty commonly used, i feel like it makes sense due to the spiritual theme of the series. idk so much about the spirals thing, but saying outloud a name for your attack that truly deep down means something to you, so that you can unleash all your energy on it, actually makes alot of sense for me.
the main battle theme for a while in the series now has been aliens vs yokai, so itd make sense why the main cast is teaming up with yokai to fight against aliens, atleast that makes sense for me
also i feel like youre undermining the development of certain characters a LOT, especially momo, seiko, and turbo granny
momo always felt alienated due to her grandma being a spirit medium, and her being made fun of for doing that good luck ritual on the way to school, that she unconsciously started suppressing that weird side of her, but when she met okarun, she finally started slowly and slowly letting it out, slowly realising how much she likes him as more of that weird side gets uncovered.
seiko was always trying her damnest to protect momo, even if it meant going to extreme decisions. however as she slowly met and connected with the rest of the cast, she started being more open and accepting, at just the evil eye arc, completely trusting okarun with the decision to protect the evil eye. we also see her befriend turbo granny, as we never saw her having any other close friends
turbo granny went from this aggressive yokai, who would on a whim attack anyone who crossed her territory, to this supporting character, who is willing to stay by her companions' sides at all times, guiding them, helping them train, she even risked her own life on the whim of "ive got luck on my side" when she decided to stay with momo in the cursed trunk that was being destroyed.
also one last thing id like to add about momo and okarun,
okarun being this otaku that had been bullied his whole life, the INSTANT momo stood up for him in chapter one, it was already decided within him he'd fall for her. however, as for momo, she was having a hard time trying to accept her feelings for him, and this emotional connection growing only just kept being shown over and over again, especially at the end of the alien invasion arc, just the simple "love ya" momo had written on a CARD for okarun, even with its ironic/friendly-ish tone, was enough to absolutely emotionally devastate both of them, and its those exact moments that makes their love feel so genuine and wholesome, the fact that they both truly care and love for eachother, but cant muster up the courage to express it, those awkward moments where momo tries to get okarun to confess, is the cutest thing.
and ofcourse- the finale of this comment. chapter 159. okarun confesses, that was the absolute final straw momo needed for her heart to snap, to truly realise that she loved okarun and okarun loved her, the INSTANT she heard that confession she dropped the shy approach she had, filled with reassurance and relief, telling okarun to confess to her again properly once they both got out of the cursed trunk safely. (ofcourse, even in the next arc the author is still blueballing us lol)
anyways, that was my take on this, i am writing this with no ill intent at all, and id simply like to hear your thoughts on my opinions.
This show is nonsense
I enjoy it though ngl😂
yes, it's absolute nonsense, and that's what makes it unique.
