Very nice video. Helped me to not be afraid to install macOS Sonoma on my late 2013 iMac 21.5, upgraded with an OWC Aura Pro X2 M.2. I'm grateful. Thanks!

hi there, everything was going well up until 4:25 where i went to go and eat some dinner hoping it would just do the installation process as it should. however, when i returned - i noticed that i can see the prohibited (🚫) sign along with the apple support url. how can i resolve this? i really like sonoma but atp it seems almost impossible to install after i worked out what was causing issues for me last time.

Got it running great on my 2017 iMac 4K. Only bugs i've noticed so far is that the mouse freezes up occasionally and Apple Music wouldn't function at all unless I open it in safe mode. Once in safe mode it functions great though.

I have installed Sonoma on a MacBook Pro non Unibody from 2008 (upgraded with an SSD) and after setting a static wallpaper it works just fine, I can even play Minecraft and Hearthstone on it. What I notice I think is the lack of RAM as my MacBook Pro only has 4GB. After this really good expierience I reactivated my iMac from early 2011 which I until now could not Update with for example dosdude as it has an AMD GPU, but after installing with OpenCore everything works fine, I only have to use hardwired Mouse and Keyboard as my BT device are not recognised on the loginscreen. It is really great, that whithout spending much on new hardware, you can have an up to date OS with ongoing security support.

Did you say MBP 2008? Wow I have a MBP 2009 with 8GB of RAM and 500GB SSD. running Catalina. It runs well except that it has some limitations like not being able to install Chrome browser and other certificates on some website. I want to try to install Sonoma on it. Do you have issues with the mouse, wifi and BT? Any hight heat issues when using Photos? Thanks ahead for any suggestions.

    • @peter_hauer

@@jterrator I think then you got a different generation as my MBP only supported ElCapitan I think. As I said it is the non unibody with the grey keyboard. I have an NVIDIA in that. When I boot and the background processes kick in for updating and syncing the fans turn up high and the MBP is almost melting, but it doesn‘t bother me as I save a lot of money this way. Every day this MBP keeps running in a usable state is a win in my opinion. YT doesn‘t play in high quality and Fotos needs a moment to load but is then usable. Most of the time I am writing on it, so I need iCloud and TimeMachine, but I don‘t need much power. BT is dead, but that was already before the update so I can‘t say something about that. Trackpad is working and WiFi too, but sometimes he does not connect on the first try but turning it off an on fixes this 100%.

Worked perfectly on my MBP early 2013. However, my Mac Mini 2014 failed: the wifi did not work and had to revert back to Monterey and all worked fine…also location did not work and kept time on Cupertino time, not European time where I live.

Im going to have to try and do a clean install. since updating with opencore my 2014 iMac has issues with not loading bluetootth and my usb ports stop working. So my usb drives and external hard drives and my keyboard and mouse dont work. I have to reboot multiple times or unplug and replug stuff to get them to finally work.

mine only Boots when the USB is mounted, I tried doing it manually And transfered the EFI files to the internal Drive so I can boot from there, and it still wont boot that way, I re formated my SSD from Extended Journal to APFS to see if that helped and not it didnt, I mean it runs smoothly, I just hate having to have my USB mounted on my laptop the whole time, I also have my SSD divided in two Partitions, Windows in the other half, can that be an issue?? I don't mind erasing everything and starting fresh, But still I cant seem to get that thing to boot on its own, Any suggestions?
