I did the same thing on a rainy day I sped in a puddle and water mud hit the windshield. Now I'm learning to drive slower or stay home. Nothing happen to the motor. Thank goodness. But I learn not to run on the water.
without this video i wouldve have call a mechanic and pay a hefty amount. I do not have full coverage since i paid off my car so i had to do the with my brother. I changed the spark plugs, I got all the water out, I changed the starter and luckily the battery was still good. Im so lucky it didn't hydrolocked =) thank you so much!!!
Today I underestimated a puddle and drove my car into it. The water splash came upto hood level. However I was able to drive till home (approx 1 km) without observing any abnormalities. But now I am concerned if my car is having any damage or malfunction which may show up later. Please advise. Should I get my car inspected thoroughly at service centre?
The plastic cover on the bottom has been removed to change the oil and they didn’t put it back and then they hit a water puddle in the cold water. We hit the hot engine and shrunk the aluminum crank case causing failure to the engine. Perhaps it’s from the oil change that didn’t put the factory Cover under the motor
I have a peugeot 206 and drove through a puddle which i heavily underestimated....now my gears are stiff when changing and the car is slower speeding up when changing gear ...any advice?
@@sharpcarco Hi, when I was in the water my steering wheel got hard and a battery light appeared on my dash, but as soon as I got out of it the light turned off and all went well, how can I know if i damaged something? The car didnt turn off or anything, thanks
Great video I just subscribed, my girl friend’s car just ran into this same problem, I went n changed the starter and noticed the water all over the the air filter, so tomorrow imma do these steps hopefully it’s not the same ending 🙄 thanks will undate soon
Well thank you very much for the kind words….. i’ll put you in my prayers as well hopefully it turns out for you and your girl . Welcome to the channel we’re very very happy to have folks like you on board !!
What would you say the problem is if the crankshaft turns but it still won’t crank. It won’t say nothing. I was thinking maybe the starter was damaged or something? Or can it still be bent valves/rods?
Well, we really know it’s not a crank problem because we can move the engine. It can be a lot of different things. It could be a bent, connecting rod more than likely, though it’s just gonna be bent valves. I did not disassemble the engine in this car so I can’t say for certain I can only give you my experience with a little bit of speculation and then I have over 30 years of experience so more than likely I’m correct it’s just a bent valves . But with water, it could bend anything.. I highly doubt it damaged the crank but a connecting rod yes that’s a possibility. Even though it’s going to bend the weakest point, which would be a valve stem.
Technically, that wasn’t necessary, but that’s what they did. It would’ve only had bent valves and probably was cheaper to replace with a used engine that it was to rebuild and do all the timing to the original engine
I have a 2020 Miata RF and today I was driving home and it was raining very heavy and I couldn't see ahead of me and the right side of my car went over a huge puddle but I was only going 20 mph, I hope my car will be okay The other puddles I swerved around but I'm really nervous because I have a very small car
Well, the only reason it’s a problem is if the intake sucks up the water into the engine so if something doesn’t happen almost immediately nothing’s going to happen just to give you a little piece of mine
My car just went though a puddle and turned off, I didn’t turn it back on after storm stopped like an hour later on the side of the road, removed the spark plugs and cranked it twice but no water just vapor, put everything back and turned it on but turned off after a few seconds 😢 idk what to do
A lot of it. I was just cruising and I hit up puddle that I did not think was that deep. It turned out to be maybe 4 to 6 in deep. I have a Dodge City Master and I think it has its air filter at the bottom of the car. After hitting the puddle, I pulled over and sat in the car for a few minutes before starting to crank it. Eventually after about 30 minutes it started but I'm getting a knocking noise. Any advice?

Of the many failures filmed in the UK where drivers hightail it through deep fords and floods at maximum speed, such that number plates and undertrays rip off even if the engine survives, one was actually filmed stranded in deep water phoning out to say they had gone through a puddle. People are out having fun boating on expanses of water the size of many a reported puddle causing these problems. It is when they try to do it in a car the problems start.

How long does it take after you drive through water to know you did serious damage to your vehicle?
Almost Immediately…. Hope that helps if it didn’t lock up 3 minutes latter your internals of your engine are OK.!!

What if it starts but doesn't want to move....when I put it in gear it doesn't wanna move...it moves a little bit but the it shut of....
So sir, what happens to get this working ? complete engine change ?

From here it looks like your engine has lost a lot of its life. If your engine is knocking then that’s not good and the life is shortened
You fix?
Interesting to know

Crazy but
Happened with my mom dodge Magnum
the owner went through a mud puddle,, made me laugh.. more like 2-3 feet of standing water..
Potato potato… he went through something that’s for sure! Welcome to the channel. Happy to have you.

Are you saying you couldn't fix this?! Really?
Well, anything can be fixed… this needed the engine replaced… bent the valves, and the connecting rods..
