    Congratulations on the new grand baby to come!! I loved the way that they let you know via the quilt pattern! The quilts in this episode were absolutely gorgeous. I loved everyone of them. I had to pause the video and go shop for the Edyta Sitar book - she is one of my favorite designers, both of fabric and patterns. I am currently doing one of her quilt alongs and I am loving it. It is going to be a beautiful quilt and I can’t wait to get to the last month so I can finish it up. It is the Primrose quilt, so gorgeous. Thanks again for sharing all of the beautiful quilts, and your Lori Holt quilt is so adorable. It is going to be quite an accomplishment to have it finished, and you are so close!! Happy quilting……………

    There are two types of monofilament thread. One is nylon which will melt if ironed and one is polyester which will take heat. Hope this helps

    Wow! I am so impressed with your Calico Garden quilt blocks! You have done amazing work! What method of applique do you use? That’s pretty ingenious the way you are leaving certain parts of blocks so they appear on the top of other parts. How large will this quilt be when it’s finished? It looks like a king size! Have you decided what longarm quilting pattern you will use? What a great way to announce a new baby! Congrats! I think Deedee has a fantastic quilting future! Love Terri’s plaid quilt! I didn’t even think of it as Christmas. She matched all of her piecing well! The blue and tan is very soft appearing! I like blues for January, too! Your quilting is wonderful, too! A pleasure to watch!

      I use Lori’s method of appliqué. Stitching the interfacing to the right side of the fabric, cutting a slit in the interfacing and turning it inside out. I then machine appliqué my pieces down. The quilt finishes at 90x90! Thanks for watching!

    Hi Tammy I love seeing all your quilts I am also trying to work through calico garden I'm really having a hard time with the instructions have you found another source that makes it easier to find the directions I would appreciate any hints I wish someone would just make a book of directions. My son just recently had a baby he is 3 weeks old and our very first grandchild congratulations to you.

    • @tammieearnest
      @tammieearnest  7 місяців тому

      Hi Julia. Unfortunately I do not know of any other directions. I found it best to start with her last blog post when I needed to find a specific block, because she links to all previous blocks in that post. I just had to read each blog post VERY carefully. The setting instructions are in the printout though and not addressed in her blog. If you have specific questions about any blocks, send me an email and I’ll see if I can help.

    Beautiful quilts! I ended up ordering the Plaidalicious pattern. Just today, I was looking at some yardage I have had for over 5 years…really pretty black, cream, tans…I think that is the perfect pattern to showcase the prints. Your Calico garden quilt is beautifully done. I’ve made several of her quilts and decided against doing that one. Huge appliquer and use the same method you use as well as the same monofilament brand. Never a problem with it.

    Tammie: I know how much you like the Fat Quarter Shop designer mystery quilt 2022, calling it elegant and quilting it beautifully. Having never seen one in person I would like your opinion. I would like to make this but the Shoreline fabrics are really expensive so I was wondering if you thought it would look good in blues, greens, greys in batiks. I've got lots of those. I'm not much for sampler quilts but I think this one is stupendous. It just looks great. So what do you think?

    • @tammieearnest
      @tammieearnest  7 місяців тому

      Hi! I’m sorry for my late reply and you may have already made your decision. I do think you would need a white or low volume gray for the blocks. I think there needs to be a good contrast between the blues/greens and the background fabrics in order for the block designs to stand out.

    what do you suggest for hand quilting batting? I have looked for a thin but warm batting to do running stitches. Please advise...thanks

    • @tammieearnest
      @tammieearnest  7 місяців тому +1

      I recommend Quilters Dream Cotton batting in the Request loft, which is their thinnest loft.
