The way he asked the accompanist for the second pianist to remain seated (and enjoy her deserved limelight) when she wanted to move away for him immediately after the piece was over, and how he later politely asked “May I use your piano?” when he needed to demonstrate technique, was genuinely humble and exquisitely classy. 👏🏻❤

The second guy was brilliant, he played by himself at master level, and then achieved everything as Lang told him

This master class made me deeply happy. Not only were the students amazingly well prepared and ready to play any part but the Lang lang’s guidance spoke to me even though I am not a pianist. I could fully appreciate the nuances. I think I will listen to many more similar recordings.

wow, what a treat this is to have available online. i was having the same feeling in the start with catherine's playing, a very nice tempo but a little more dynamics a little softer but wow he sees (hears) absolutely everything and what a difference it makes in her playing when she takes those notes and she starts feeling the piece more.

I love the second pianist Thomas Luke. I love his interpretations in the piece he played. Of course he can adopt the suggestions from Lang Lang because of Lang Lang's experience. I believe he will definitely do well. Honestly I was inspired by his playing. A great future for this young man.

Awesome! LL's ability to extract the themes, colors, gait, and story from the piece gives him the ability to see beyond mechanics. The infusion of one's lived experience is at the core of music, through pitch, drag, pause etc. A good musician pays attention to the senses beyond the immediately audible. Despite music being often interpreted in such a form, many "hear" color and temperature. And he is one such person.

Why is it when Lang Lang plays it, it's more "musical" - something magical about his keyboard touch.

The level of change in the guy in the blue shirt was nothing short of incredible. You could tell by Lang Lang's whole demeanor that he really enjoys getting ahold of someone so quickly teachable. It went from technically very adept to that, but with very high expression musician ship and showmanship, in a very short time. I also really enjoyed that students joy in learning and growing, so evident in his face all t;he way through. That young man could flat out go somewhere.
Loads of student talent on that stage, not remotely just him, either. Some not nearly as open and quick to implement, though. Initially I got that impression from the last student, but then she got very receptive and things started to really happen. Some time needed for the student teacher dynamic to develop.
