Wet Molding Leather with a $1 VACUUM BAG

- Another week of experimenting so you don't have to. I bought a dollar store vacuum bag and tried molding a case for a deck of playing cards. Some tips: I found releasing a tiny bit of air and reforming and then vacuuming and then repeating that process a few times gave me the best shape.

Nicely done, I've never thought of using a vac bag and yet I must have around 20 of them. Thanks for giving me that mental kick.
Thanks Roy!
Excellent idea, back in 1842 (!?) when I was at school the woodwork department had a vacuum bag system for helping to stick veneers down, I wondered if you could use for leather molding and you have proved that idea, very many thanks
You’ve inspired me to start leather work! Thank you! Greetings from Australia!
This makes me so happy! Thanks for sharing!
Wow 😯 Great idea 👍🏻
Super idea👍
great ideas. Thanks for sharing
Funny enough I was wondering if my dollarama vacuum bag would work, the one you used is the exact one I bought lol
Can’t wait to get started, thanks
Excellent video thanks for the vdeo and time 👍
Perfect.
Great vid! Thank you for ingenious tip
Thanks so much!
Very nice, enjoyed the vidieo
Brilliant!
Thanks!
Very Nice.
Genius
I recently used a 3D printed form and my Foodsaver to make a knife sheath. I love being able to combine hobbies to make stuff.
The Foodsaver! That's genius. I was thinking of making molds without the 3D printer at some point!
@@SpringbokCraftCo Having a wood or plastic blank of an object is great because you don't have to worry about damaging the real thing in the molding process. I would recommend... in the case of a full wrap, tight mold... that you leave a hole in your blank so you can attach some sort of handle to aid in removing it from the leather. That part can be a PAIN.
That is so pretty 😍 The color is lovely too! If it were a little thinner I would stick it on the back of my phone cover for my cards
Oh hey!! I just saw your UA-cam channel. Amazing, keep it up!!
@@SpringbokCraftCo Thanks!!
Does this work with faux leather, too?
Where can i get those vacuum bags at ? Thanks
i dont get how the moisture leaves the bag. Does the item sit for hours or does the vacuum suck the moisture out , essentially quick drying it?
But how does is it dry?!
👍😉 Good job.
what tool did you use to make the holes for sewing
leather
diamond chisels/pricking irons
You wasted twice as much leather as you used? Where's the usefulness in that?
