The Adjustable Lightweight Head is an adaptation of a Russ Sadler design that overcomes the limitations of the standard K40 mirror3/Lens holder.

Maintaining the K40 carriage can be a challenge, the guide wheels wear and can be difficult to align and install with the correct setting. The Grey Goose Design Adjustable Lightweight Head Linear Rail upgrade kit you get all the advantages of the Adjustable Lightweight Head plus the significant bebefits of a linear rail system. Using a linear rail gives the mirror3/head assembly a much more stable operating platform. Compared to the standard carriage system, the linear rail allows much higher operating speeds due to its significantly lower drag. The linear rail is also much easier to maintain in an optimal operating condition.
As all K40 users will know, beam alignment is frustrating at best or near impossible at worst. The Grey Goose Design Adjustable Lightweight Head solves this issue by including an adjustable mirror 3 on an adjustable mounting bracket. In practical terms this removes the necessity for shimming the head and/or mirror 2.
Almost every K40 user realises that the material clamping system in the standard K40 is very limiting as to what thickness of material you can work with. With the Grey Goose Design Adjustable Lightweight Head, the lens tube can be adjusted in the Z axis (up and down) to accomodate different material thicknesses. N.B. - the standard material clamping bed needs to be removed.
Because the Grey Goose Design Adjustable Lightweight Head includes a high quality 20mm diameter CVD lens, the maximum useable power form your tube can be realised.
The lens tube includes a metal air assist nozzle eliminating the possibilty of a fire from melting/burning of 3D printed parts.
Installation of the kit is simple - just remove the 3 standatd head retaining screws and replace the head/mirror 3 assembly with the new the Grey Goose Design Adjustable Lightweight Head. Once installed, check and adjust the beam alignment and you are ready to go.
The kit includes full installation instructions, all the parts and tools necessary for installation and mirror 3 adjustment allen key.
