This is all too complex for me - it took him 45 minutes to explain all of this - if you need a manual for understanding your hobby then it seems like WORK to me.. Actually I was trained as a COBOL Programmer and did Assembler Programming but I like SIMPLE. Mike is a technical genius - and I guess I am not. I believe that SIMPLE is the best way to do anything.

Why did MTH and lionel ever get rid of their handheld controls all this WyFi stuff, is nothing but a pain in the ass it takes all the fun out of operating any of these trains. Model railroading in not fun anymore. I'm glad I still have all my handheld controls. For lionel and mth.

I love it, I picked up my wtiu today, still run my trains with the original tiu and the app. Need the item number for the serial/usb cord mike?.

      Why can't i get a serial/usb adapter at bestbuy? What's so special about mth's adapter which I can't buy?

MTH and lionel should have never got rid of their handheld controls. Legacy and DCS handheld controls were great. All this Wi-Fi is. Garbage, nobody's gonna wanna try to figure this stuff out Someone starting a model railroad. Isn't going to deal with this?
I'm sure glad I have my lionel legacy remotes and my MTH DCS remotes. This wi fi takes all the fun out of operating lionel and m t h trains.

@@dewittkandle5674 I still have both my DCS and Legacy handheld remotes even though I also have Lionel's Base 3 and WIU and TIU. Because I have the WIU Paired with my TIU, there's no need for me to have a WTIU and can run my trains either with my remote or through the app. The same thing works for the Base 3 as well even though the Lionel system is a bit more complicated, I particularly like the way that Base 3 syncs with the Legacy remote in case I don't want to be bothered with the app. Thanks for commenting and watching!

Paid $500 for an MTH Northern. Lasted 1 month and the driver fell off it when I picked it up from the track.
