Always felt that the goth Riddler from the 2004 Batman was an underappreciated look. Being voiced by Freddy Kruger himself, Robert Englund, also helped this version stand out.
The Batman's Riddler was amazing. I found it innovative how he was different and quite liked the "zodiac killer" inspiration for the character. Plus, Paul Dano really smashed the ball out of the park with his performance. Plus who knows, after how he reacted to losing and the possibility of being back in a sequel, he might start quipping.
My only issue with The Batman’s Riddler- why does the initial plan of killing off the corrupt individuals in positions of power escalate to flooding the city, killing the new mayor, and gunning down civilians? Like, the corrupt mayor, DA, and police commissioner, plus Falcone the mob boss are all dead and the new Mayor was actively anti corruption, so what does the attack accomplish other than killing more people?

Really love the Riddler in The Batman 2022 movie. He's a lot darker and aggressive in this version. The acting for him was incredible. He's now my new favorite version of the Riddler.
For some reason, he reminds me so much of Arthur Bremer (who shot Governor George Wallace in 1972) and John Hinckley Jr (who shot President Ronald Reagan in 1981).
I love Cory’s Riddler as much as I love Paul’s Riddler. And Frank’s Riddler, even Jim Carrey’s Riddler. And Robert Englund’s Riddler and Wally Wingert’s Riddler.
I absolutely loved the riddler in Gotham because I was pumped about his origin with him meeting his future self and having a tragic life along with romantic. I also liked the relationship he had with penguin because it starts as a partnership, they then turn into enemies after Penguin killed riddlers lover. Then they join again and become a duo of crime. The Arkhamverse Riddler will always be my favorite depiction of the character and it’s all thanks to Wally Wingert, his voice actor. I really did love Paul Dano’s performance though! He’s right up there with Arkham Eddie now.
I agree, the new version of riddler just doesn’t feel right. I get what they were going for by making him mimic the zodiac killer… but like he’s the riddler (a very goofy character) and it just doesn’t feel like him.
@@freebooterluckless I wouldn’t really say he is “goofy”. I loved Cory’s deception of Riddler in Gotham, because it actually felt like HE was the Riddler. I understand that the Riddler himself is supposed to BE a goofy person, but it just doesn’t make sense, and it also creates this facade of a character where his only personality trait ARE the riddles (and of course his ridiculous costume.) (If you haven’t watched Gotham, it’s not the best show out there, but the actors and actresses really do give it justice, I recommend watching it solely for Riddler, Penguin, and Jerome.)

I always found Riddler as a kind of comic relief character in the beginning, he tries so hard to be batman's number one villain but always fails. As time went on he did start getting more time in spotlight, I believe the turning point was the "Goth Riddler" from The Batman cartoon, as we got to see how his family and friends wronged him, before he became a villain. The Arkham video games certainly made him memorable, gliding all over the dam place trying to find his trophies and solve his riddles. Then Batman Hush came and we saw him take stabs at Batman, both physically and mentally. When the bomb shell was dropped that Hush was actually Riddler, I was shocked, I had convinced myself that it was the original guy, Tommy Eliot, and that he faked his death in that movie. Now we have The Batman movie, and the Riddler is now a Zodiac Killer. I have yet to watch The Batman, and something tells me I'm gonna enjoy it. This will definitely make him memorable, and more of a threat to Batman going forward.
Totally, he's had quite the evolution. He was actually the main villain of the Batman 1966 series (at least in the first season) but the actor had a pay dispute with the studio so he only appeared twice after that
The cartoon was most definitely not a turning point for the character. Riddler had some big roles in comics in the 90's, he has always been considered a major Batman villain. Something like Dark Knight, Dark City or Run, Riddler Run, The Long Halloween. His original role in the Hush comic had him as one of the few characters to ever just figure out Batmans identity.
I think my favourite adaptation of Riddler actually comes from the Arkham games. And if you take a look at the chronological timeline of the series, you can see why. In Arkham Origins, when Batman meets Edward Nashton for the first time, he goes by "Nigma"; and despite being confident that Batman couldn't stop him against his own agenda, he seemed more impressed by how Batman stopped him in general, and decided it wouldn't be the last time he sees him or tests him. And you can even find a hidden room in his lair where he already prepares to take on his new Alias as the Riddler - indicated by the green question marks and the first ever Riddler trophy Batman has ever found. In his concept art in Arkham Asylum, he's really well-dressed, and definitely takes plenty of inspiration behind his design from the original Animated Series - bowler hat and all. In Arkham City, despite being in a district-sized prison, he still dresses formally, although a bit more messy, which is something you would expect from a prison. And finally, with the final game, Arkham Knight, you can really see that his grudge against the Dark Knight finally takes its toll on his health - considering how scrawny and dirty he is, and how he now longer even wears any formal attire like a suit or sweater; looking like he hasn't showered, slept, or ate in days. Which just goes to show how completely obsessed and driven to the point of madness (even if he still tries to hide it with narcissistic and smug personality) - all because he could never truly defeat Batman, and doesn't want to admit he won't always be the smartest guy in the room. And even go so far as to kidnap Catwoman as leverage, and try to cheat to come out on top over Batman, but ultimately failing. Riddler's evolution in the Arkham series in terms of his personality and designs are why he's my favourite adaptation of the Riddler.
Can't wait to see how you create evolution videos of Batman's other notable adversaries, most notably Penguin, Two Face, Mr Freeze, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Bane, and the rest!
These are always so entertaining! I would love to see an evolution of the ninja turtles but i realize 4 characters simultaneously would be ridiculous lol
I wouldnt say ridiculous, more like time consuming. Id love to see an evolution of all 4 as well. Considering the turtles in time special ahowing all the iterations at once, wouldnt be too hard to do, but yeah, all in one go would be alot.

Requests The evolution of motoko kusanagi The evolution of han solo The evolution of boba Fett The evolution of daredevil The evolution of Sarah Connor and John Connor The evolution of Ben Tennyson The evolution of doctor who The evolution of bumblebee The evolution of Patrick star The evolution of Sasuke Uchiha The evolution of ash Ketchum
When he wasn't having a hissy fit with Penguin. For the most part, Gothams Riddler was a blast to watch. Its very Riddler esq to have a good and bad performance at the same time.
I really am a fan of the Riddler he definitely is one of my favorite villains of Batman especially the Riddler from the Animated Series I really wasn't that big on Jim Carrey's Riddler but at least the suit did look good it looked exactly like the Riddler it look like something The Riddler would definitely wear they really tried their best in that movie the new Batman movie that is coming out really The Riddler does not even look like the Riddler from the comic books
comic accuracy does not always = good. The Riddler’s costume in The Batman is perfect for a darker and more serious version of the character, not everything has to be exactly like the comics

Something like Dark Knight, Dark City or Run, Riddler Run, The Long Halloween. His original role in the Hush comic had him as one of the few characters to ever just figure out Batmans identity.
While I ofc do love the 2022 Riddler, Young Justice, Gotham and the not mentioned Arkham Desing all do him justice aswell
If we didn’t get all them Riddler Trophies, then maybe I would actually have him as my favorite. Imma have to stick with Dano.
Can't wait to see how you create evolution videos of Batman's other notable adversaries, most notably Penguin, Two Face, Mr Freeze, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Bane, and the rest!
I like how the Riddler’s last name sounds similar to “enigma” which means a person that is mysterious or puzzling to understand.
His first name starts with an E. His name is E. Nygma. Bit more than just the last name for the pun.
Bro….*facepalm*
@@ryanburrell4999 What?
@@Goaty_1 Riddlers real name is “Edward Nygma”
E. Nygma….Enigma…
It means riddle in french
Thank you for mentioning Gotham, such an underrated show.
Gotham riddler is still the best riddler imo
It's nice to spend a lot of time with a Riddler and get to know Nygma for a while before he turns
I LOVE the new Riddler design. It's SO simple and it looks SO good.
3:26 my father finally came after getting milk
The Gotham version is my favourite because of his evolution and in depth character. Simply fantastic
These are always so entertaining! I would love to see an evolution of the ninja turtles but i realize 4 characters simultaneously would be ridiculous lol
I wouldnt say ridiculous, more like time consuming. Id love to see an evolution of all 4 as well. Considering the turtles in time special ahowing all the iterations at once, wouldnt be too hard to do, but yeah, all in one go would be alot.
this video was awesome and great just like how the Batman was. I recommend to all who haven’t watched it yet.
Your channel keeps getting better and better with these evolutions. Do the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles next, it’ll be worth your time.
Lego Riddler just chillin.😂
You should do an evolution of Two-Face!
I know Jim Carrey was a good Riddler, But I thnk Paul Dino delivered the best preformance of the character and I know she is not DC related, But I would love to see ''The Evolution of Mystique animated''. Love your videos because you are awesome.
1:48 Literally David Bowie
03:18 bro looks like if Lex Luthor was cosplaying Ridler

When he wasn't having a hissy fit with Penguin. For the most part, Gothams Riddler was a blast to watch. Its very Riddler esq to have a good and bad performance at the same time.
1:32 That's literally Billy Corgan
Great video but you miss the Riddler from Nolan's version "Mr Reese (mystery)"
The Gotham show is unironically one of my all time favorite shows 💀
Mine too I love it
Penguin next!!
My favorite design and riddler in general is definitely the one in the Gotham series
The 2022 Riddler is different than the others, because he is actually taken seriously as a threat to Gotham
Can you make an evolution video on Wolverine?
I think Paul Dani was amazing as the joker even rivaling Heath Ledgers joker.
what
1:15 and under the red hood(2010)/Death in the family (2020)
Good job man! Can you make bane’s evolution animation for your next video?
You should do evolution of the doctor from doctor who
4:05 It’s slipknot Riddler
I will never forgive the riddler for the pain he made me feel collecting those trophies in Arkham Knight.
Riddle me this. What channel makes animated videos on UA-cam, makes evolutions on movie or TV show characters on occasion, and has over 1.58 million subscribers?
I like how The Batman 2022 turned The Riddler into a more psychotic character
ya
Evolution of The Doctor (Doctor Who)
