This song always feels like the anthem of Earth during the Reaper's invasion. It always makes me imagine Anderson and the rebellion doing things that were just as badass as Shepard, but they know they can't get the same glory as Shepard, but they fight to take earth back no matter what. Awesome!
to be fair the glory doesnt mean anything to shepard, and they know it. its a war for survival, shepards fame and reputation is a tool to get as many people to help as possible.
I love this song for a very good reason. ME3 still stands as one of the most depressing games I've ever played. Pushing the sub-par ending aside the game surrounded around saying farewell to characters you've grown a bond with for years upon years of playtime. The game is also FULL of slow piano solos that really give off the melancholy of the end. But this...THIS fucking song shows us the adrenaline rush of taking on impossible odds and ending the threat rather than ending the experience. This song pumps me up so much that I play it on the final mission of ME3 charging through London and it feels amazing. Bioware needs to take notes that there is a time and place for adrenaline and a different one for sadness. Needs to be some balance. This song gives me that balance.
Yeah the last 3 hours of ME3 were a melancholy filled trod through a storm of emotions and sadness. I mean it really touched me, but god damn I was seriously depressed for like a month.
Yeah i was late to the series just completed the trilogy 2 days ago... my commander shepard survived tho i have the extended cut dlc. i was super sad but after i read that statement bioware releases saying that if your shepard survives he will be reunited with teh crew and ur love intrest i was happy lol. My shepard and tali will be reunited :D
Mass effect is like life: You start with promise, make poor decisions that come to bite you later on and get to hung out with some questionable characters. Then, at the very end, all those decisions you made won't matter that much, because in the end you get 2 or 3 choices and die, leaving the galaxy largely unaffected.

I like how, even though I've been a fan of MoS and have been subscribed for several years now, this shows up in my recommended feed as a new trailer for the Mass Effect Legendary Edition also shows up.
I was teary eyed when Mordin died but at the same time I had a smile on my face thanks to the thought of Wrex and Eve leading the Krogan to a better future. When Thane died I think I shed a tear but we had been able to say goodbye and I was at peace. This was all after my blood rage towards Kai Leng. Legion's death made me feel like Mordin's though I felt more calm about it. When Anderson died I actually had a few tears streaming down my face. I was choking up and sniffling for a good minute.
Mass Effect 1 was a masterpiece, no arguing about that. Mass Effect 2 ? Well, apart from Lazarus Project it was all great as well and don't get me wrong - I've simply found that a bit awkward not bad. And at last - Mass Effect 3. The game was freaking epic, except for the endings, which still were fine and I actually enjoyed them, just not as awesome as I... expected ? Overall, this game is a TRILOGY and as a trilogy it rocks and I love it. For me, it's the best sci-fi ever made. That is my opinion.
ME 2 was 1st sign of EA's true face 1. Skins in-game being just color-swaps (X even had both of them damaged after certain event) 2. DLCs, even skins, weren't included in CE (and Polish CE needed some changes in game's files to install bought DLCs with skins) 3. Whole game was in fact about gathering team for no real reason, "main" plot about Collectors was in just few events triggered by making rest stuff. ME3? Crappy endings and devs explainign bullshit with one of players finding "DLC" inside core game's files... Players can't pass dev's greediness only because overpriced, sliced story is good. I have books with good stories. Without DLCs, with humble prices, without bugs. Dev's won't change if we buy games without DLCs or with them. We can force them to change ONLY by boycott
I think the saddest part of this video isn't the song.... but that it wasn't Grunt fighting the rachni..... which means the person who played that part let Grunt die in ME2 (or somehow didn't recruit him?). I actually kind of pouted a little when I noticed that.

@@theoutsider7807 this only works when importing a SaveGame or using the Mass Effect Genesis comic tool. In the Mass Effect default world state Grunt was never awoken and thus cannot appear.
I'm just gonna say it, I LOVE MASS EFFECT 3. The story is intense and filled with ups downs and action and it is a spectacular finale worthy of the name. Forget ME2, I like this one more, honestly.

The mass effect trilogy was probably my favorite series of games from last gen sure the ending was pretty bad but the journey to that point was amazing i can only hope the next gen mass effect games will be as good as the others my only fear is the fact that EA is the publisher and we all know why that may be a problem

I was not dissapointed with the ending. it wasn't a perfect happy ending but I wasnt expecting a perfect one. the galaxy was saved with great sacrifice, but the future was saved and the reapers gone forever, it was enough for me.

There anime universe from me, but it is an average taken. It contains a lot of bugs related to the story. Title: Mass Effect Paragon Lost But I do not recommend it for people who did not play because it may just spoil the fun of the game.

I understand what they were trying to do, when it came to having a story that wasn't Shepard, but it wasn't time, and Vega didn't deserve an anime as a back story. Not that he isn't a good character and his back story isn't interesting, - I personally love Vega! He just didn't need it. People can use their imagination for it. If he get's one, then every damn character should get one, you know? For me, it was too soon to try and write a Mass Effect story that wasn't about Shepard. It was still within the Mass Effect 3 time when people were bitter about how the game ended, and adding a Mass Effect anime series that wasn't revolved around Shepard, people didn't take to it well. - At least, that is what I saw. If only this game had had a "golden ending" like ME2; sure, Destroy allows Shepard to survive, but losing the Geth in the process? Couldn't Bioware have put in some really hard-to-find sidequest that, I don't know, allowed you to preserve them instead, or at least saved enough to rebuild?
Depending on how you play, EDI is shown leaving the Normandy after it lands in the Destroy Ending. So it's possible that other AI's survived as well. There is a common fan theory that Shepard may have been suffering from Reaper indoctrination and they were trying to dissuade him from selecting the Destroy option.
Robert Enders the Indoctrination theory was made up by people who couldn't handle not getting there super happy ending. If shepard was indoctrinated Vendetta wouldn't had reacted to him, if Catalyst didn't want to get killed he would of left shepard to bleed out on the floor rather then bringing him up to the firing chamber. and a bunch of other things that prove it to be false.
hound89 Fair point, poor example. Ash and Kaidan was a choice between two people, and not a hard one at that; you don't get to survive 3 out of 4 endings anyway, so you don't get to live with the consequences.
So, I actually heard the 2021 version first and read that there was this version, released with BioWare's blessing and input. The differences in lyrics are noticeable, like when someone changes the lyrics of a Sabaton slightly to apply it to a different event or even a fictional one. It takes me out of the moment a little, since I know the 2021 version and have listened to it a few times. I also think the audio quality or something like that has improved, as the music seems far more restrained somehow with this version. I think I'll keep listening to the newer version, which if I am to understand, is the version you wanted to do in the first place before BioWare's input, and shows how much just from an audio quality standpoint you've improved. Also, the clips used in the newer video fit a bit better, and I can understand why; BioWare probably just gave you clips for this one, while the newer one you had more freedom. I don't have anything against this version, but the newer one is superior in my mind.
To be honest, I personally can't help but have the opposite opinion. It may have something to do with the fact that I listened to this original release for so long, but hearing his newer version just sounds so vague compared to the original. I know that the lyrics for the first release were changed due to BioWare's request, but it makes the song feel much more connected than the 2021 release. The original release ironically gives me more of a fictional "Sabaton" song feel, where the 2021 feels like someone wanted to remove the connections that it had to make it more universal. My first time listening to the new release was jarring, and that hasn't changed in every listen since then. There are some parts that I agree with, like how the 2021 version's video has better clip choice, but when it comes to the audio quality the 2021 sounds much more subdued than the original, which I would describe less as "restrained" and more as "fighting the restraints". I would say that I don't have anything against the new one, but I can't help but feel a little bitter that so many people think of this version as inferior. As an aside, however, I absolutely love your username and profile picture.
I'm just gonna pretend that that ending was EA's fault. They were being pushy an force ME3 out before it had a good ending. I'm just gonna tack that on as an extra reason to dislike them.
Tyler Smith EA can't take all the blame, although it's true that due to the enormous success of ME2 that they got dollar signs in their eyes. One of the lead writers left Bioware in the middle of development, they were on a relatively short leash before the game's extension, and the plot details of the Dark Energy plot were apparently leaked, so that whole story had to be scrapped.
i think they just should admit that the ending of ME 3 was a narrative disaster. That they, in an honest and open fashion communicate that they are taking steps to prevent it in the future. To convince us that they have learned their lesson. Damage Control... :P
Screw the in game endings, I think I'll rely on a fan fic ending over this shit. My Shepard didn't cross hell and high water multiple times just to die because some nut case AI can tell him how it ends. He deserves a happy ending, plus how else are we gonna get little blue babies xD
Well with the announcement of the new mass effect, hopefully people's questions will be answered so everyone will stop b*tching about the ending. I mean come on, the mass effect series on a whole is great. If you're gonna let a meager ending upset you, there's probably gonna be more to come with that kind of thinking (:P)

I'm late, but I gotta say that this would work fine for me, though it was what I was hoping for in ME3 ... instead we got the kid. But if it actually is an "escape from galaxy", maybe some Geth managed to sneak on board and I don't need to feel bad for my robo-genocide-ending anymore :) I just hope we really got rid of the damn kid behind for good ... ever since ME3 I have a real problem with kids and I think I'll shoot the first one I see in the new game just to be on the save side ^^

Admittedly, in my first ME2 playthrough Grunt was killed (along with Thane, Kasumi and Jack) but yeah, it is sad that the person let my son die.
Could also be ME 3 with no save imported. I got into Mass Effect with 3, so that was the first of the series for and I had nothing to import.

Yes, I have heard of it, but I am never watching it. I understand what they were trying to do, when it came to having a story that wasn't Shepard, but it wasn't time, and Vega didn't deserve an anime as a back story. Not that he isn't a good character and his back story isn't interesting, - I personally love Vega! He just didn't need it. People can use their imagination for it. If he get's one, then every damn character should get one, you know?
For me, it was too soon to try and write a Mass Effect story that wasn't about Shepard. It was still within the Mass Effect 3 time when people were bitter about how the game ended, and adding a Mass Effect anime series that wasn't revolved around Shepard, people didn't take to it well. - At least, that is what I saw.
There is a comic book series, though. I saw an issue at my comic book store and it had Aria on the cover, and the art looked absolutely beautiful! I am very intrigued about that...
I agree, pretty much, that the "non-developed" characters that are fan-favorites should get the animated movies.

If only this game had had a "golden ending" like ME2; sure, Destroy allows Shepard to survive, but losing the Geth in the process? Couldn't Bioware have put in some really hard-to-find sidequest that, I don't know, allowed you to preserve them instead, or at least saved enough to rebuild?
Mass effect has always been about hard Choices and living with the consequences. there's no magic side quest to save ashley and kaiden
Depending on how you play, EDI is shown leaving the Normandy after it lands in the Destroy Ending. So it's possible that other AI's survived as well. There is a common fan theory that Shepard may have been suffering from Reaper indoctrination and they were trying to dissuade him from selecting the Destroy option.
Robert Enders the Indoctrination theory was made up by people who couldn't handle not getting there super happy ending.
If shepard was indoctrinated Vendetta wouldn't had reacted to him, if Catalyst didn't want to get killed he would of left shepard to bleed out on the floor rather then bringing him up to the firing chamber. and a bunch of other things that prove it to be false.
hound89 Fair point, poor example. Ash and Kaidan was a choice between two people, and not a hard one at that; you don't get to survive 3 out of 4 endings anyway, so you don't get to live with the consequences.
Cerberus rebuilt Shepard, so maybe indoctrination can be switched on and off as needed.

So, I actually heard the 2021 version first and read that there was this version, released with BioWare's blessing and input. The differences in lyrics are noticeable, like when someone changes the lyrics of a Sabaton slightly to apply it to a different event or even a fictional one. It takes me out of the moment a little, since I know the 2021 version and have listened to it a few times. I also think the audio quality or something like that has improved, as the music seems far more restrained somehow with this version. I think I'll keep listening to the newer version, which if I am to understand, is the version you wanted to do in the first place before BioWare's input, and shows how much just from an audio quality standpoint you've improved. Also, the clips used in the newer video fit a bit better, and I can understand why; BioWare probably just gave you clips for this one, while the newer one you had more freedom. I don't have anything against this version, but the newer one is superior in my mind.
To be honest, I personally can't help but have the opposite opinion. It may have something to do with the fact that I listened to this original release for so long, but hearing his newer version just sounds so vague compared to the original. I know that the lyrics for the first release were changed due to BioWare's request, but it makes the song feel much more connected than the 2021 release. The original release ironically gives me more of a fictional "Sabaton" song feel, where the 2021 feels like someone wanted to remove the connections that it had to make it more universal. My first time listening to the new release was jarring, and that hasn't changed in every listen since then. There are some parts that I agree with, like how the 2021 version's video has better clip choice, but when it comes to the audio quality the 2021 sounds much more subdued than the original, which I would describe less as "restrained" and more as "fighting the restraints". I would say that I don't have anything against the new one, but I can't help but feel a little bitter that so many people think of this version as inferior.
As an aside, however, I absolutely love your username and profile picture.

The ME 3 ending made us suffer enough.
I'm just gonna pretend that that ending was EA's fault. They were being pushy an force ME3 out before it had a good ending. I'm just gonna tack that on as an extra reason to dislike them.
Tyler Smith EA can't take all the blame, although it's true that due to the enormous success of ME2 that they got dollar signs in their eyes. One of the lead writers left Bioware in the middle of development, they were on a relatively short leash before the game's extension, and the plot details of the Dark Energy plot were apparently leaked, so that whole story had to be scrapped.

i think they just should admit that the ending of ME 3 was a narrative disaster.

I'm late, but I gotta say that this would work fine for me, though it was what I was hoping for in ME3 ... instead we got the kid. But if it actually is an "escape from galaxy", maybe some Geth managed to sneak on board and I don't need to feel bad for my robo-genocide-ending anymore :)
