the number of times you mentioned tairn being MVP is so REAL. i read fourth wing and he, andarna, and sgaeyl were the only tolerable characters for me.
Honestly this book gives me so much emotional whiplash. Sometimes I adore this book an other times it makes me so mad. Sometimes all the romance drama rly put me off and made me wish it wasn’t a romantacy and just a fantasy sometimes violets arguments pissed me off. Like gurlie it’s normal for peole to be left out of the the secret plans which u can’t leak and on the other hand, im just starting at xaiden like BABES she can’t read ur mind… how is she supposed to know what to ask. It’s a big back and fourth and annoys me sometimes. BUT that asaide I love the book. Lore and even love the dragon interactions. Adarna is such a brat and I love it
My girl you are amazing!!! Thank you so much for doing these!!! I read fourth wing and iron flame a year ago and had the hardest time remembering key plot points. But thanks to you I am officially ready for Onyx storm now! P.S. I love all your videos! Please do Songbird and the heart of stone (crowns of nyaxia) next❤
Yay! I haven't read Songbird and the Heart of Stone yet, but I'm planning to pick it up soon! I probably won't recap it until we're a little closer to the next book coming out, but I was thinking I might do a reading vlog with my first impressions!
Loving your commentary throughout the videos about real world ties! It’s so crazy that the first time I read this last year I didn’t pick up on all the political commentary and reading it now is so eerie. Will you be doing onyx storm? Sorry if you have answered this already!
Thank you! I definitely didn't pick up on it as much my first time reading either! I think it's really easy to get caught up with the romance and the dragons and not pay too much attention to the larger world she's building. I will be doing Onyx Storm recaps, but probably not until closer to when the next book in the series is coming out (so not for a while). But I have been filming a more casual first impressions vlog as I've been reading (with spoilers), so I'll share that probably next week once I get a chance to finish the book!
I think Yarros does mention in an interview there there is some criticism of history and how it’s written by “victors” but I don’t think she ever clearly mentions critique of the military. The “it takes one generation to change history, another to teach it, and the new generation grows up never knowing anything different.” Is more the overarching theme from what I’ve gathered.
That is definitely the most prominent theme! But I think the fact that so much of what the people of Navarre believe is untrue, also really brings into question the morality their actions. The dragon riders aren't really these heroes keeping everyone safe. I also think there is a pretty major theme, especially in Iron Flame, of how terrible it is to treat people as weapons and to treat their lives as disposable. I don't think Yarros is trying to say that the military is evil or that we should abolish it, but I do think some of the problems that arise in Navarre are a reflection of real world things that she takes issue with. I'm really interested in seeing where she takes the world from here and how the rebellion will change the overall power structure.
Girlll you are so effortlessly funny!! Also, i think Tairn (my fave too) is going to die in the last book 😅 I think Violet will survive because of Andarna.
I am with you, I told my friend after she got me to read the series why are more people not talking about Taryn or however his name is spelled lol. I love him. But I love Segal too
Truly same. Before I started this reread for these videos all I remembered from Iron Flame was it was long and Xaden was annoying. And of course what happened at the end
Part 2 is out now! ua-cam.com/video/9feFO2R6ghw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BooksbyNichelle
Everyone shut up my show is on
Nothing better than getting out of chem lecture to a Nichelle video :)

Xaden and violet both have their moments of being incredibly annoying in this book 😂 But I really do like the world and I’m excited for the next one!
Yeah the whiplash is so real 😭

Oo would love to see iron widow / heavenly tyrant next
I actually haven’t read that series. I’ll have to check it out!
@booksbynichelle I would love that too! ❤
You are a godsend!
Girlll you are so effortlessly funny!!

Thank you! 💕
I'm so worried about Tairn! I think you might be right 😭 I'm so scared!
They never announced Barlow on the death roll or mentioned that his things were burned
Ur my favorite person also I think you need to market the literal book you wrote more.
Thank you! I really should talk about it more 🙈
I would eat up a Tairn Sgaeyl prequel
I am with you, I told my friend after she got me to read the series why are more people not talking about Taryn or however his name is spelled lol. I love him. But I love Segal too
He’s my favorite! Truly best part of the book!
Our queen❤
my show is on!!!!
I think she is just writing what she knows and accidentally showing the dark side of it all. I don’t think she realized it even could be a critique
why do I literally remember 0 of those plot points apart from the arguing
Truly same. Before I started this reread for these videos all I remembered from Iron Flame was it was long and Xaden was annoying. And of course what happened at the end
Eeeek🎉🎉🎉
Girlllllllaaaa🥰
3 hours god bless 😊
Girl I’m nervous, did you know you have 30 minutes?
Thank you for eventually getting jesinia’s name right! Better late than never 🫶🏽
