I was told by a friend who attended this ceremony that after the cheering crowd disperses (there is one ceremony in the morning to open the gates and one at sunset to close them) the guardsmen from both sides sit down together for tea and a cigarette.

Lázaro Fernández lack of class and culture ?? In case you're not aware, the United States is more diverse than any other country. There's Pakistani, Indians, Arabs, Chinese, Thai, Laotian, Samoan, Hawaiian, Latino, African-American, Hmong, Mein, Japanese, Korean, and Mexicans here. I have not seen such country that will accept other ethnicities like the United States will and have. Besides, the US have different culture festival, maybe you should be more aware and see if there is any local community events nearest you. For what I know, I've attended an Afghanistan culture club in California along with Indian festival, and Thai, Hmong , Laotian festivals.
