Things you want to know - Let's talk about the Camino de Santiago - part 5
Let's talk about the Camino de Santiago and what we learned from our hikes along the different paths leading to Santiago de Compostela.
From Porto (Camino Portuguese), from Le Puy (The Chemin de St Jacques), from Irun (Camino del Norte) and from Saint Jean Pied de Port (Camino Frances).
In a series of videos about what it's like to walk the Camino de Santiago, Camilla and I will talk about what we've learned.
What could have been good to know before we started our hikes and what do we take with us next time?
Because we will travel back and continue walking the roads around Santiago de Compostela.
In this video we try to answer questions we received.
Feel free to write questions in the comment field if you want, and we'll try to answer them in future films.
We will talk about packing, shoes, food, access to toilets, what it's like to live in a hostel/albergue, laundry facilities, showers, bed bugs and most things that might be good to know.
We hope you will enjoy our videos.

A question for you, perhaps in a future episode: Is there a favourite place you found to eat in Santiago?
As in, Everytime you go to Santiago de Compostela, you know you will find great food there. 😊 I know it’s an unexpected question but it might be an interesting thought.

      I think it’s a good question 🍽️😃
But no I don’t have a favorite, in 2017 I was twice at small strange restaurant Cafe bar a Cepa but it not the same now, in 2019 we celebrated our engagement at Cafe Casino - think that was the name. Really good service and food then. And it’s never wrong with a carajillo at Garigolo.
And two great hotels are Hotel San Miguel and Hotel Pico Sacro, depending on what standard you expect of course.

Hi Thank you for sharing your journey, these information are precious as we are planning our firsts Camino this Sept 2024 by bike. We are doing the French way and kind of anxious about the route especially the first day .From our ongoing research apparently the first day is tough as we have to cross the Pyrenees mountain. I have watched your Francis Camino too and noticed that you mentioned taking the Napoleon route I believe you said take the left ?If we want to take the road or lower elevation in your opinion what is the route should we take the Left or the right ? .Also thank you for information about the water , we will be buying out water then just to play safe. I just subscribed and continue to watch your video , very informative. You two are cute couple.

Hi 😃So, you are going to do your first Camino. Great 👍🏻
I see, visit the pilgrims office in Saint Jean Pied De Port. There you get very good information in general and also a map of where and when you should choose a route on the first day.
You can see the map in my video, Camino de Santiago (2022) “First day” 07:04 in the film.
You don't have to choose a route now, you can wait and see what the weather is like, how you feel that day and so on..
