Zach's problem is that he actually writes stuff that is not just targeted click-bait
Problem is he not on show with click baiter to get views
His articles are soooo good

“Problem” for ESPN. Not anything to actually be ashamed about. Lowe is one of the best for the NBA. I hope Bill brings Lowe home to The Ringer.
He might have the most boring podcast of all time
Hate to hear it about Zach, but I am excited because Bill has to hire him for the Ringer!!
Zach is big enough to create his own thing if he wants to

Legler is still there. For now.
Zach doesn't have many real points he just kinda talks in a cirlce but he at least tries to present facts based on data and engage actual nba idea topics even if he has no real subtance point at the end instead of just hot takes so...

Zach Lowe ✅️ Monica McNutt ❌️
The crazy thing is Zach Lowe JUST got the 1st JJ Redick interview as the Lakers head coach and NOW the fire him. Talk about trash leadership at ESPN...
There goal seems to be to appeal to people that think good NBA analysis is saying Kobe's better than LeBron cuz rangz
@@michaelturley8222😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Not really, the basketball fanbase in itself is trash. ESPN just adjusts to the community.
Ye because they take there stats from social media platforms where the loudest people are often confused as the majority! I for one don’t watch espn unless specific anchors are on. Now that Zach is gone that’s just another reason not to watch. ESPN has been pretty terrible for quite some time when it comes to basketball coverage and it’s the main reason that these podcasts from ex and current players have picked up so much traction
That's why he was fired. They didn't like him going on JJ's podcast and then he had JJ before Espn could on his podcast....
Bill, please, hire this man immediately!
He will🎉🎉🎉
@@Thenobleone81 I think so too. Bill loves Zach and knows he's probably the best analyst in the NBA media world, especially now that JJ is gone. ESPN is just sports for people that casually watch sports, or do nothing but watch sports and have a double digit IQ.

Zach Lowe made millions of dollars at ESPN...he'll have better career options than getting hired by a podcast. Brsides, he's a frequent guest of Bill's already, and I'm sure he does it for free.
@@D.A.P_100 you’re way off. 1
Russillo was arguably a bigger name than Lowe because he was SVP’s cohost, and he covered all sports, and he was on ESPN radio and TV more regularly than Lowe and they were able to pay him. 2. They sold for $200 million so they clearly are making big money and can afford big salaries. 3. Lowe was definitely not making millions, if you listen to his podcast regularly he’s definitely hinted over the years he is nowhere close to rich.
ESPN is continually dumbing down all it's commentary.... But none moreso than their NBA talk.... Watch a football show and they're talking cover 2 and route trees.... A basketball show is talking about tweets, fashion and who is next to go in free agency.... Zach was the best because he was talking ball.... The Screaming A Smiths have won🙄🙄🙄🙄
Been making the same comparisons for awhile.
Skip and SAS ruined ESPN for me.

Their NFL stuff is crap too…just less crap
They’re number #1 in the country
The fact that ESPN is laying off Zach Lowe but keeping Kendrick Perkins is all you need to know.
They're not about too content, they're targetting the "shock value" audience.
Thats what espn is now. Theyre trying to cut back but they dont keep the people who are way more qualified. Perkins obviously played but has so little experience doing tv/journalism. At least zach lowe has enough of a following now that he will probably do fine on his own. Simmons getting fired by espn did not hurt him much.

Epsn is owned by Disney and right now they are great at giving us stuff we don't want.
Not to mention having a hiring bias SPECIFICALLY against white men.
Last I checked, Zach Lowe looks a bit too pale for Disney...
Disney writers hated the fact that a white male was being heralded by the masses, and now they want to replace him with a DEI-checklist approved individual that can appeal to a demographic that doesn't care. I wish they understood the demographic for basketball talk is "basketball fans", not some obscure racial or gender-denominated demographic.

Pti and around the horn i have watched forever, i stand by Espn more than most, but it hit hard when they said that the horn is done. Next year its too bad all the talent they lost last couple years..
I honestly believe the second Tony or Michael retire, ESPN is not gonna replace them with someone else on the show, they are instead going to cancel the show immediately. After doing that, they are either move who doesn't retire onto a different show, or they are going to tell them "You are also retiring from ESPN, whether you like it or not". I hate it, man.

The answer as to why is very simple.
ESPN is about sensationalism and appealing to casual sports fans. It's about making clips, "viral moments", loud people saying ridiculous things.
Zach Lowe is a measured, seasoned, intelligent, rational TRUE sports fan who loves the game and talks from the mind and the heart. In other words, he's too mature for ESPN.
TL;DR: He's van gogh, ESPN is a network that demands finger paintings.
Somebody had to talk about it, thank you guys for keeping it real!
I have a feeling Woj saw the writing on the wall and quit before he got sacked. Zach did not fit whatever vision ESPN has and it's also likely he doesn't have any patron behind the scenes. I hope he lands squarely on his feet and hit the ground running. He could set up his own company, he has enough credibility to do so. It would be nice if he moved to the Ringer, but I doubt it.
NBC or Amazon will hire him. NBC can utilize him like Mike Florio. or Amazon can use him for TV spots and podcasts.
Woj was a reporter and not a sportswriter, the difference being the connections with front offices and ability to keep your ears open for breaking news. Zach never broke any stories as far as I know

ESPN is no longer serious about sports.
Once, they curated a love and delight for all kinds of sports. Now, all that exists is football, basketball and social justice - w a huge focus on a few teams and personalities. It lacks vision. By cultivating a love of sports, they give themselves a long term platform.
Spot on. I don’t care for hockey personally, but it’s never mentioned like it was before. Baseball is only talked about during the playoffs. Golf, tennis, everything is gone.

this video describes exactly my experience with ESPN. i used to just leave ESPN on all day and i would actively watch certain shows - Mike & Mike, PTI, First Take (a long time ago), and a few others. but over the past few years i've stopped watching cable and instead of finding ESPN content online, i've found other shows on UA-cam like First Things First, Bill's Podcast, Undisputed before it disbanded, and NBA on TNT. and like they mentioned specifically with NBA games, i don't enjoy watching the commentary of live NBA on ESPN and wanted to hear Chuck and Shaq instead. the only ESPN content i watch at all is ESPN FC and that's because of how little soccer coverage there is in the US.
ESPN is trying to pull the super team with no depth model with Shannon, Stephen a, and McAfee and whoever else. There's still some good reporters over there but they are really leaning into the hot takes side rather than actually news and analysis
I mean... "super team" refers more to celebrity than actual talent, let's be very clear about that.
