Gutted... Remember listening to Annie on a Sunday night as a young boy in the 80's. She opened my eyes to so many awesome artists and genres of music. Rest in peace Annie.
i feel in love with annie by what she played and how she promoted and defended it. she felt the same way that i feel about music. despite her age her enthusiasm was contagious and i'll be pouring one out for her.
Annie is a great DJ. A real bonafide legend and still working at 79. Have followed her since the Request Show that preceded then followed the Top 40 on a Sunday in the 70s, 80s and 90s. BBC Sounds allows me to find her current show - tucked away in the middle of the night!
I can well understand Annie Nightingale wearing shaded glasses as a fashion accoutrement ,but the three Establishment dossers were plainly taking the mickey,a poor compliment for a fantastic lady .!
@@bobbuilder4875 She handles it well, not offended, but plainly not at ease. Bernard Manning had a good sense of humour, he would have ripped them a new one.
Working on Radio 1 since 1970 "I was only 8 at the time" you supercilious old buggar. You will never be as good as Paxman ,or Sir Robin Day.If you would have been interviewing someone like Dennis Skinner , Maggie,or Nigel Farage you would have been cowering under the table. I notice the aggressive lean forward posture adopted by so many American "interviewers" I only hope you will live as long to be as old as you look.As for the other two old duffers hoping to take a rise from an extremely talented, well loved, and highly revered DJ, and broadcaster such as Annie. With the sunglasses, the shirts, and the fat bellies ,you look like The Proclaimers granddads. The Lady is a Legend!
Looking back at this, I can’t help but think what rude, chauvinist bastards! Annie is and always will be an icon. Embarrassing that they think they could make a joke & a jab at her by all wearing shares.
Watched this clip as was unfamiliar with her and her voice was chosen as one of the top 5 for radio - completely baffled as, closing my eyes, she sounds fairly monotone and a bit lispy like Toyah Wilcox.
Nothing short of a true legend
Annie, a legend❤
R.I.P Annie 😪

The word legend is overused… but she truly is. Credit to radio one in their callous cutting of DJs, for keeping hold of her x
She is a genius at recognising talent.
I LOVED listening to her programme. This was my lifeline x
Annie Nightingale got amazing show! I follow her since DJ Trendsetter was first on in 2013.
Love Annie
Must be seriously bright spotlights in that studio.
Early 80s playing Tracks from the Human League Albums Travelogue , Simple Minds , Celebration, classics
Ode to A ...♥️

Get a sense of humour… it was all in good taste. Nobody’s offended. Least of all AN herself.

They all look like caricatures of themselves

He's not a great interviewer and Annie does not come across as being very comfortable with him.
