  • Provenance research generates large amounts of data on the biographies of works of art and artefacts of cultural heritage. Collecting, storing, managing, linking and visualising this data requires financial, human and technological resources that are often scarce. Provenance researchers can use the open database Wikidata and the free and open software Wikibase to record their data, link it with that of other cultural institutions, and thus enrich each other's knowledge. Wikipedians and art historians from the kuwiki working group, volunteers from the Wikidata community and provenance researchers have already begun to explore the possibilities of collaboration.
The roundtable discussion was part of the conference Provenance Loves Wiki 2024 (Berlin, January 12-14th, 2024), and was organised by the kuwiki Working Group.
