The original version of Staten och Kapitalet is by the Swedish prog band Blå Tåget, and later covered by Ebba Grön. The version they played is the Ebba Grön version.

I remember myself a couple years back on an outdoor event in Sweden where we were listening to various (mostly American and British) rock classics, when suddenly the Swedes turned on this song which I heard for the first time. Everybody was signing it (as in the stadium). Holy shit. A masterpiece.

What a crowd
New rule: when the crowd starts to sing, you be quiet.
Don’t understand a word, but it sounds so cool especially when fans participated in the song, gives them energy. This is the type of crowd Metallica and every musician need. Seem like Kirk is happy that the crowd sing along so loud. Well done Gothenburg!
It's a huge classic punk song. I would say most Swedes know the lyrics to the chorus, even those that don't agree with it at all. It's a very left-wing song about how the State (Staten) and the Capital (Kapitalet) works together to suppress the working class.

Mostly word for word, with some "poetic license". For instance, I used "Medicaid" (which of course doesn't exist as such in Sweden) in place of the more literal translation "worker healthcare". Similarly, I translated the Swedish "lönelagen", "wage law", to "minimum wage law", since that should be more familiar to Americans or those familiar with US culture.
Some phrasings where changed as inspiration struck, e.g. "together they roam the land" to sort-of rhyme with "gentle as lambs", rather than the more literal "together they roam forth".
Overall as good of a translation as I have come across. I do wish you had retained "the whip that tickles, isn’t tickling their fat necks,” and a better translation of ‘lackar’ would be ‘glistening.’ From an American (linguistic) perspective ‘the government’ might be a better expression to use in place of 'the state.’ as 'the state' usually refers to a more local and less powerful layer of administration, while 'the (federal) government' evokes a much more powerful entity. As for kaiptalet, 'the capital' in English would usually be interpreted as shorthand for ‘the capital city.’ I’m not sure if there is a perfect translation that has all of the same associations in English. Business, big business, or the owner class are possibilities, with the first being the ‘poetically’ most appropriate and last being the literally most accurate.
