  • Many of us fish keepers are striving for that perfect crystal clear pristine aquarium water clarity, but can't ever seem to get there.* Here's how! In this video I share with you my tips so you can get it NOW!
Any questions, tips or ideas please feel free to share them in the comments below. Remember that each person's tank is unique and always do a lot of research, gathering information from numerous sources, before making any changes. Be very reluctant to make changes in a working healthy aquarium. Mess less for success! Also, keep in mind that pristine water is not always healthy water. There are lots of factors to consider. It truly is a fluid situation!

Back in the day, we ran Diatomaceous Earth filters for 3 hours for polishing and used an Ozone generator for clarity. Nothing beats ozone for razor-sharp clarity.

I agree with you. I don’t use any chemical filtration. I stick with sponges. Course, medium then fine. I also use bio filtration. Biohomme ultimate, Seachem matrix and ceramic rings. Weekly water changes and my water is very clear.

I use Poly-fil. It does the job, it's hypoallergenic and cheap.

Yeah back to the basics is simple & cost effective. I'm currently running floss in all my tanks for that crisp look 😎

Thanks Ben. Excellent Tips & Reminders. A lot of us aquarists know these but tend to forget to apply some of them in practice or only remember them when issues arise. 👌

I am a real freak about water clarity. Hate any floating debris or murkiness. I use two filters in most of my tank and pinky floss. I have used almond leaves for my Bettas who were sick but
hate the murky water. Thanks for the great video.

Seachem Pristine will make the water sparkle and it breaks down the detritus to help In between cleanings

I find the fx6 needs to run for a couple of months with its outside sponges, a bio sponge, and bio media before the biofilm becomes thick enough to have micro particles stick to the mum/slime for ultra clear water. Meanwhile it does a great job without high ppi sponge or floss to clog the flow. That said I committed to run a Fluval 407 with the fx6s for the specific purpose of fine filtering using Swiss tropical 19in high 4in square intake sponge, SERA green fine sponge balls (reusable) and chemical media purigin (rechargeable). Can't help myself....lol. The 407 takes a couple of minutes to service. I use the out for waterfall effect. Beats just using a pump.
