Murray, Monfils and Gasquet won? What a great day for the old gen! 😍
Favorite generation
Will the nursing home bring them back on the bus tomorrow??!!
Yes and their opponents were classy players as well, so no easy matches!
They’ll both lose next round lol
@@t-bone7988 Murray has a good chance to move to the third round, but I know what you mean.
Richard’s backhand will never get old
Richard may get old, but his backhand will never get old.
I agree
Is it just me or his racket was way bigger than most others?
@@vicentefigueroatocornal2776 he's just a pretty small guy
Forehand wasn’t too bad in this match either.
Andy Murray is a miracle of modern surgery. What incredible progress to witness in the medical field. He has no right to be running around out there on tour, outstanding.
Murray and Gasquet still going strong. Good to see 🙌
I'd rather say monfils and Gasquet they are older than Murray
they aren't going strong at all. They can barely win a match on the tour, especially Murray.
Only Monfils is going okay. Murray just won his first match of this year lmfao
@@user-sq5nl8bm8j Gasquet for me for had some wins this year. Just like monfils. Buy well Andy is favored by tennis commentators so you understand why. I mean he was world number 1. But for me I enjoy Gasquet and Monfils so far. Sinner only lost one set in Rotterdam and that set was won by Monfils.
Murray going strong? Pffff.... first win in 2024, that is rather embarassing for a former GS winner. And who is Muller? A guy playing more challengers than on the ATP tour.
Enjoying Gasquet's one handed backhand before this rarity vanishes from the surface of the earth
Amen Brother.
...and the entire solar system
@@Floodland-bn3ol Not to mention the entire universe
no one uses onehanded backhand anymore!! so boring!
@@anseinueseima408 Well, only very few ones including Dimitrov, or Wawrinka, mainly old school players indeed
So cool to see how much Murray is enjoying himself out there and how much every match win means to him. The comeback road from surgeries must have been frustrating but he epitomises perseverance and determination. I wasn’t always the biggest fan of his during the Big 4 era but now I firmly am.
Old guys Murray, Monfis, and Gasquet doing well! I could watch Gasquet's backhand all day!
Mensik is the real deal for next years
Andy's slice at 1:35... A thing of beauty! Super clean ball striking today, really realy really good to see. =D
The vets had a good day! Monfils, Murray, Gasquet ❤
Van Zanschupls forehand is just wild 😅
1:35 Andy's backhand slice is insane!🎉
Murray vs Mensik is an interesting matchup. Mensik has big potential, but he’s not quite there yet. Murray has the experience, but can’t roll back the clock.
all the old guys winning today, murray, monfils, gasquet.. gasquet's fallaway corner backhand is iconic and maybe one of many.
i hope andy makes a good run here, he's playing better attacking tennis
1. Gasquet still has it. What a performance against an in-form player
2. VDZ wtf😭😭 bro are you drunk? What was that
Gasquet, Murray and Monfils teaching these young whippersnappers a lesson or three!
I'll never forget getting a highfive from Monfils after he won the semis at the Stockholm open.
Murray gets a win finally. Second set was a bit ugly but he won it!
And Gasquet with a GREAT performance today! That is awesome to see. Shevchenko has been in good form too. That's a really good win for Richie.
man I have a mad respect for Gasquet , he is a truly tennis icon
Why would he be a tennis icon? Never won a GS or an ATP 1000 tournament. Actually not even an ATP 500 tournament.
@@user-zn8bp2wp8e....33 finals and 16 wins...so pretty good I'd say...and he also has a Grand Slam title...but not in singles....and of course one of the best backhands of all time....a true icon.
@@kevingilhooley2064 And he lost every important match. Like the Davis Cup final against Switzerland. Federer made Gasquet look like a school boy to secure the win for Switzerland.
@@user-zn8bp2wp8e ...he did lose those finals that's true...but he got to those finals too....hasn't Medvedev lost 5 out of 6 GS finals?...not everybody is like Roger who was a class above..but I've seen Roger many times live and also seen him make even the best players look like schoolboys....take the 2017 sunshine swing of Miami and Cincinnati where he made most of them look like schoolboys including Nadal.
@@kevingilhooley2064 And I always thought the Sunshine Swing includes Indian Wells and Miami. But to your point, ok, it is a little bit unfair to mention a match against Roger when Federer played at his best level. Like complaining somebody lost against Rafa in Roland Garros during his prime.
One insane stat - 6 matches played in Doha today ended with same result as the match before it:
Struff - O'Conell 4-6 4-6
Shevchenko - Gasqet 4-6 4-6
Zeepieri - Russuvuori 6-7 5-7
Marterer - Grenier 6-7 5-7
Monfils - Vdz 1-6 6-7
Muller - Murray 1-6 6-7
This is so weird ! Would be interesting to know the probability of such event. As these events are independant per court, it must 3 times the one from one court
Sublime Gasquet!!! What a tennis from 37 years old!! 😅😊
Nole is such an age and wins slam while Gasket is nothing in tennis.
Oldies but goldies 😁👍
holyyy, mesik hits super heavy! hope he can have consistency on the tour because it's fun to watch
Long may Murray, Montfils and Gasquet reign
I just hope to see one day Gasquet win a Tour match at 40. 🙂
Goodness. What horsepower was gasquet on tonight? He just demolished Shevchenko! He seemed like 2007 gasquet
The first-set was one of the best he’d played in years! Taking about Andy!
Get in there Andy 👏🏻
The amount of forehands that Murray hits off his back foot or even with his left foot leaving the ground (weight transferring backwards) is ridiculous for a player of his caliber. The backhand continues to be rock solid and insanely efficient, but that forehand is hard to watch.
Was thinking something similar while I was watching. Backhand is simple and bomb-proof, but the forehand is just all over the place.
so happy for Andy ! hopefully he can get a few more wins and get his confidence back before clay season I feel like he can still win a big tournament his game is here and he has champion mentality
What the hell happened there with Botic? I can't believe he did that... what a boneheaded decision at such an opportunistic time. Anyways, great day for the old guards today in Doha, they opened their accounts with clean sweeps over the newer comers.
He missed like 8 set points with all kind of easy missed shots. He is not in a right state of mind to play tennis at that level, that's for sure.
Finally!
The first win of the season !
❤❤❤
Can someone please explain what the hell happened in that Boltic match in the tiebreaker?
Botic got mad and ruined his racket. Smashed a ball into the air out of frustration. Deserved to lose, acted like a child!
Weird AF. He won the point and then that 😂
why? he won the point no?@@user-sq5nl8bm8j
@@user-sq5nl8bm8ji still dont understand what you mean by ruined his racket? Why he smash that ball away ??
@@sebastienlg446yeah didnt he win the point?? Im super confused
Alejandro is truly in disarray with his gameplay for months
Que bueno es ver jugar a Murray y mucho mejor cuando también juegan grandes jugadores como Gael y Richard. Que bueno por ellos espero que lleguen lejos en el torneo.
Andy finally played more aggressive and it paid off!! Well done Andy now get more wins for confidence!!! 😅😊
It's a GREAT DAY for the GEEZERS!!! Murray & Monfils (two of my favs).
And Gasquet, he is 37, older than Murray.
WOW that's some big hitting by Mensik!
Anyone know why Van De Zandschlup has smashed a ball out of the arena after he’s won the point?
I think he got confused, and thought he had won the set. I little bit harsh from the umpire, as it looks like this penalty point made him lose the set and the match respectively.
Murray, Monfils and Gasquet all won their matches. Someone pinch me because I must be dreaming
Gasquet played spectacularly. Mensik just hammers the ball. He’s top 10
Well done Richard! 👏😍
Blast from the past from Andy. Sweet slice at 1:39.
Man! Murray was in the ZONE. Good match.
Happiness for watch Murray and gasquet still wininning
Finally some great variety from Murray! 👏
The end of the one-handed backhand draws near... but Gasquet's backhand puts forth a pretty strong counter-argument against that in this match DAMN 👊
Mensik the goat. Watched him vs Hurkacz at AO this year. Incredible player
It was so nice to see Andy get a win today. Glad the Brit still has some fight left.
Nice, Andy
Gasquet's backhand really is all-time great stuff. Even now. Especially how consistent with it he is.
Question: On a slightly different note though, why has Gasquet never flattened out his forehand? Especially now that he is older and doesn't have the speed and mobility he once had. I feel that the loopy forehand sort of sits up too much and therefore he finds it hard to dictate points with it. Flattening it out would perhaps make it a riskier shot, but he'd win a lot more easy points with it as well, I feel.
My man Monfils!!! 💪🏾
The fact that Monfils still looks like he's in his 20s (from some angles at least) is fucking crazy
Murray still has some energy left. Nice win. How does he keep that drive going is amazing.
Me alegra tanto el triunfo de Murray.
Nadie mejor que él merece un triunfo ¡y ojalá el campeonato!
Su persistencia es absolutamente admirable.
1:20 this point is like prime Murray! 👏 Super movement, excellent shot making (pace and placement 👍). If somebody nowadays asks how Andy could win three majors, two olympic titles and became number one in the era of the big three: this point illustrates it! Once he was able to play like this for hours and hours over five set matches.
When it is meant to be it is meant to be. The last point though😊
What is that surface ?? It's seems so quick
Sir Andy Murray ❤
So happy for Murray
The grunting in the Murray/Muller match was horrendous.
6:47 smash for two points, wow!
Does anyone know what happened in the match of Monfils vs van de Zandschulp? He is always so calm an collective and now he launches a ball into the crowd?
*collected
Why did zandschulp do that at 7:13??
That is hilarious, the old guard are not backing down
At 6:48, why did the score go from 6-4 to 6-6 during 2nd set tie break for Monfil vs Van de Zandschulp?
Noticed that. The swindling scumbags!
I was watching the match and I believe it was just an issue with the scoreboard at the time
Sir Andy Murray He set to work and victory came😊😮
Lets Go Andy !!!
It's a pain watching Gasquet keep doing the forehand buggy whip regardless if it's a high or low ball lol
Murray dropshot was maddd
Murray’s backhand slice is beautiful! And it stays so low… He should use it more often…
1 thing to add: Can you please add chapters for each match? It doesn't take long and sometimes TennisTV uploads individual matches before uploading the highlights for the day so it would make it much easier for the viewers who've seen certain matches before these types of highlights.
Wtf is Mensik ?? Amazing shots
Long live one handed backhand
Mensik forehand is a bullet
c'mooon richiee
8:44 OMG!!
Fuckina is so consistent in fucking himself up
"Fuuuckiina, fuuuuckina" - Tiafoe
What the fokigonna do?
Good win by Monfils.
VDZ won the point and then fired another ball away or what ?
There’s no fucking way Botic VDZ lost with a point penalty and a net cord😭😭 most unlucky loss I’ve witnessed. You could tell monfils felt bad
Good to see the “old” 36+ years old guys winning!
Gasquet 37.6
Monfils 37.4
Murray 36.7
Murray, Monfils, and Gasguet , architects of point construction. I hope the next generation is studying them.
6:51 l’entraîneur ne comprend pas la réaction de VDZ 😅 -> Point pénalty
see Murray winning is priceless
Seems like Van de Zandschulp forgot he had a code violation. In the future the ATP put symbols on the scoreboard just so players are aware. Like maybe be X could represent a code violation and a little clock could represent a time violation.
I almost wonder if Botic thought he won the set or something when he hit that ball. It just makes no sense
I'm sorry for muller but so glad for murray to finally get an "easy" win.. complete domination.. looking really good
Tennis Grandpas on fire !
Go Murray go! ®️
YES ANDY ! Block out the haters.
Wtf? Van de Zandschilp won the point on a tiebreak but was frustrated by smth and got point penalty
Alejandro Alejandro..
6:45 point so good it was worth two points
Gasquet keeping hope alive with that one-handed bh. Wish we had a few younger talents that could use it as well, still super viable in today's game. Yeah we have Eubanks, Tsitsipas and Thiem but still.
You forgot Musetti.
true, but he's been spotty lately. Last year he had some good wins last year and that one against djoker was nice. But idk if he can bring his level back up to compete with the top 10 or 20 players. Qatar highlights not looking too promising
ahhhh the sport washing capital of the world
Murray, Monfils, and Gasquet all winning. We're in 2010 again.
richieee !
Damn Murray was hitting the absolute piss out of the ball
