The used games store in my town has at least three 3DOs in stock at a time. The owner told me back in the 90s there was a satellite seller and they also sold high end home theater systems and were an authorized 3DO seller. Odd for a small town.
I came here for some seriously XXX gaming content. I mean the kind that gives you those glazed-over and foggy-eyes and moistens your mouth. The kind that leaves you sure that you peaked, but somehow still wanting more. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed. 10/10 would partake again 😊

I was a teenager when the 3DO launched. The 3DO would have had a much bigger fan base if it wasn't so damn expensive. It also definitely would have had much more 3rd party support. I was the only one in my entire school and neighborhood that had one. People use to come over to play it all the time. We played the hell out of Super SF2 Turbo. I did know other people that had one, but they were in different schools/neighborhoods.
A crazy old man (my father) once told me that the universe is not large, it is actually just very detailed. I hope that helps you to understand the 3DO!

I actually prefer the older design, as it had a more marbled effect, and looked beefier in general. I guess there weren't many (if any) of the older style cases sold over here in the UK?
The saturn has the floppy disk hat looks similar to the Panasonic memory transfer ( it use a CD rom too). However the floppy disk is very useful for saturn owners and becomes expensive nowadays. Nice video by the way
I remember running into a 3DO at Circuit City and being so impressed, having only known 16 bit systems. It was demoing some racing game with a car driving in the moon or something.

Just had one of those brain thinks, and maybe you re thinkng of Off World Interceptor? That was a 4x4 game that took space on a moon like surface, but the vehicles were more like trucks than cars

The SNES Man the problem with the CDI is everyone thought it was a game console first, which was not its original intention. When the CDI was released the fact it could play music CDs was enough reason to buy it. It was more of an entertainment system than a game console.
I run a DVDO i-scan pro into a EDTV and it works flawlessly on 240p and 480i content via composite (TG-16), s-video (N64). There’s no noticeable input lag.

I actually scored an interesting 3DO...but don;t know what to do with it lol. It was a unit that was used in a dedicated arcade machine for a game called Shootout at old Tuscon. I have another Identical but it is a regular consumer unit so... not sure if I should hang on to this other one for parts or get it in the right hands.
You can bump that 3DO fan number up to 6. I used to sell these at Software Etc. I tried to save up to buy one but teenage me did not have the discipline.
I got mine from Walden Software, so now its at 7, or am I closer to the top since I got mine back when the price dropped to the low low price of...$399.
@@zackschilling4376 looking back it is easy to see it as a failure. But at the time it was something totally new and exciting. I was already burned by the Sega CD and the 32X. I wanted something new and there it was, expensive like a NeoGeo without the software. Too bad it didn't work out. I think it was a few years too early.

Now there has always been weird stuff for PC/Micro Computers but to see it on a somewhat mainstream console was pretty cool. 3DO took chances and made some great unique games. I dont know if Slayer was ever released for anything else. It was a randomized Doom style FPS that took place in the AD&D universe (Forgotten Realms if Im not mistaken). I really enjoyed it. It had some amazing CD-ROM ports too. The Horde is one of those that come to mind. And, of course it was later ported to PS1 and Saturn, the best Road Rash game released to date.
8:32 That 'double stacking' used to be common in the old days as a way of replacing a chip that went bad without desoldering the old one from the board. Most likely those chips went bad and were replaced later.
I wanna see someone send you like prototypes for bizarre third party sports gaming peripherals. I own a few like the WCW Goldberg memory card for PS1, the WWF Attitude HMV Vibra Pak-memory card combo and the WWF Stunner Pak. MAN do I wish there were peripherals for the japanese wrestling leagues like AJPW AJW and NJPW
The ODE CD drive emulator does that already. A new ODE is currently being developed and is almost finished. It will be open source, unlike what is currently on the market.
No, sadly no extra stuff was made besides a Subwoofer and a TV that matches up well with the system. The vcd modules for the fz10 (2nd model Panasonic) does match with the body lines.

were those AT&T chips on the prototype?
AT&T made the GPU's, 3do then bought them and replaced AT&T with the 3do logo. Some earlier retail units can have the AT&T chips though.
