I bought my first 3DO new in 1994 for $300 when it died I picked up another at Best Buy when they were closing them out for $69 and it still works. It's a very underrated system. Due to emulation I don't use it anymore as 4DO does what I need it to do.
I still have 2 3DO’s, I have the Panasonic with the discs draw and the Goldstar also with a Disc draw. The Goldstar draw opens and closes faster and gets straight to the game, better than the Panasonic. I have about 60 games all in their original box, I love DemolitionMan and the game shows, and this was where Need for speed started.
I've been collecting for 30 years and I've never seen an ODE before, or even known of it's existence. The pride of my 3DO collection is my Sanyo T.R.Y. with NMEMO USB cd replacement.
3DO Company was intellectual property & licence holder. Panasonic (Matsushita, back then) was a third party manufacturer (as was Gold Star & Sanyo. Samsung had an exclusive right for Korean market only). The system itself was officially named 3DO Interactive Multiplayer. They (3DO Company) attempted do do something similar as JVC did with VHS. It didn't worked out for them, sadly...☹️ Edit: Gex is also a must own title for 3DO👍
When I plug in my 3DO the first game I always play for quite a while is Return fire. The orchestral music blows me away...Then Star Wars Rebel Assault followed by Need For Speed or Road Rash. Love these games.
A friend of mine, José who passed away in 2017, had that model with all the games and controllers. I had another friend who had one of the other brands 3DO and it stopped working fairly fast. Yeah other models from other brands failed fairly regularly the FZ-10 was the most reliable one. It's an O.K. system but not worth the original $700 asking price. Good review and cool video Wicked.👉😃👈
Loved my 3DO, bought another several years back. Samurai shodown was brilliant and loved SF2, captain quazar was good fun and cannon fodder had some cool cartoon cut scenes added. A great system
Yeah, that street fighter is said to be the best port. Have never played it or emulated it tho unfortunately. I do however have plumbers don't wear ties on my vita lol.
bought the org model used in 96 for 300 off a gamer at my job , 3do game discs had no copy protection and were easily cloned ! I made backups of scratched discs in case they started failing. Space Hulk was my fav, but it had a level to pass that was near impossible. Alien blood bath ! vengeance of the blood angels ! The face to face fighting was cool , every 5th alien was super tough to kill , and way of the warrior wasn't that bad , Also it is maybe the only gaming console that had adult , R or X ? rated titles , i saw them for sale back then but never had any, try finding them these days ! For the Sexy role player gamers ! Hee Hee
I would jailbreak my 3DO back in the day like the Sega Dreamcast you could burn compact discs to have games that would play on them love the 80s and 90s always a way to cut corners wicked awesome
I picked up each version of the 3DO and peripherals like that Capcom controller for almost nothing back in the day when I lived in Japan. They're still in storage. I need to sell the extras off.
Fun Fact.. The 3DO has no copywrite protection.. so if you can get one then all the games can be burnt onto a cd... Also Star Control 2 is the best game on the system.
@@woogha I absolutely hated that game when i first bought it.. didn't play it for months after i bought it.. Ive played it at least once a year every year since. Its a masterpiece..
@Brian Babin Those are great games (minus PR)... but none of them come close in scale, its still consider one of the best pc games of all time and the 3DO has the best port. Its a sleeper and an acquired taste but as ive stated.. its a masterpiece that still holds the highest respect 25 + years later.
I was 15 when these came out. I saved up for two months to get one on release day. It takes a while when you're making six bucks an hour. Wing Commander was the best.
I'm still slowly collecting for the saturn and turbografx ,turbo duo ,cd and pc engine and super grafx ..it gets expensive depending on how bad you want certain games
I had the Creative Labs 3D0 internal card that came with cd drive and Sound Blaster. The controller was more angular. I bought the capcom 6 button, and I think played all my games with that after purchasing it.
Hi, I'm Walter from Rome. Sorry for my bad English. Congratulations for your video on the 3DO console. I wanted to ask you as an old owner of a 3DO FZ-1 mistakenly sold many years ago; I'm trying to get one, considering that I care a lot about the condition of the console and the box with its interior (polystyrene, instructions, etc.) I found one in excellent condition but it's an FZ-10. I know that the FZ-1 has its value and importance but it is unattainable in terms of price and is only found in Japan where I would pay an absurd amount of customs. I wanted to ask you, can the FZ-10 also be considered excellent as a purchase for a 3DO? I read somewhere that it was built cheaper than the FZ-1, but is that true? Thank you for the answers you can give me. Walter
3do was the highest spec system of its time. It went up against ps1 and was much better system. Check the specs it was up with ps2. If it kept going games today would be a thousand times better than now.
@@grointastic4242 You're thinking of Panasonic M2. I know what I'm talking about. 3DO wasn't even close to as powerful as a PS2. There's literally nothing a PS2 couldn't do that a 3DO could. 3DO only did 50,000 polygons per second. Original PlayStation could push 360,000. I'm not even going to bother giving you the figure for PS2, as hopefully, you get the point.
Back in the day I wanted a 3Do so bad...but the $700 price was unreachable as a kid....it was easier to go to moon than to buy a 3Do... I'm glad I didn't buy it because it turned out to be a dud and the Playstation was just around the corner..... Ahh those were the days... Doritos ,Pepsi and third party controllers for your friends... Lol
@@WickedGamerCollector Thank you so much for your response. Your channel is absolutely amazing and I love your voice and singing. Thanks to you I got a SEGA Astro City Mini which is awesome. I have an older console, but just as a collector's item now. I was born in the 70's so I grew up at the beginning of the video game era and almost everything has passed through my hands. That's why I love your channel, it's very positive.
With these CD based consoles getting really old it is going to get harder and harder to replace lasers or motors for the CD player eventually it will need a laser emulator to play your games when they eventually die and it will cost more to repair or replace the laser.
Yeah... Pass. I'll stick to emulation. Older consoles especially CD based systems are heavily prone to optical drive failure. Repairing or replacing parts is too much of a hassle considering those components are proprietary and not easily obtained. Unless you cannibalize another defective unit for usable parts. While we may see the day where we can 3D print working replacement parts for those systems. I'd hold off purchasing those consoles. Unless you stumble upon one really dirt cheap.
3,DO was sh*t. A huge majority of games were crap. The joypad was plastic and felt cheap on most models. Throughput it's lifespan there were barely 5 games that were worth buying. There was nothing awesome about the 3DO. There is absolutely no reason to pick a 3DO up, esp for gaming.

To me, 3DO has the best versions of Wing Commander 3 and Wolfenstein 3D.

Maybe the best port when it came out, but later newer consoles got better versions.

Wow. I remember this console
👍👍
Was playing a few on my old laptop didn't configure correctly I guess you can't always count on emulation.
Great video as usual man thanks for the info!!
I can't believe the Capcom gamepads are expensive these days. I would've thought they'd be less than the stock controller.
Damn dude so many hand gestures😂🙌👋✋👐🖐

Boy, this memory "card" is more like a memory slab. I suppose you can now buy a power bank that could power this console for a couple of hours.
Hoe kom je toch maar aan al die spullen
Gewoon kopen .. en veel op marktplaats kijken 😁
well can we have another video of all the 3do games you got playing i want to see them run and defo rebal assault cheers.
I've never seen someone play sf2 with fingers instead of thumbs using a gamepad. 😂

That way of the warrior is ludicrously bad

Street Fighter ? 🤪
Plumbers Don't Wear Ties (To be clear, I'm 100% joking. Don't play this "game.")
