He's the most-adorable out of the team & they gave him big, blue eyes. That shot & line delivery are perfect. I wouldn't want anyone else, but Mikey to have said it.
I remember back in 2015 near the end of my Junior year in High School, my class had free time where we had no work to do. That day, my teacher brought in a few movies we could watch. It came down to two movies to choose from, one was the 2014 Bay Turtles film and the other was Raimi's Spider-Man 2. When the teacher told the class to raise their hand if we should watch Spider-Man 2, I was the ONLY ONE who raised my hand, while everyone raised their hand to watch Ninja Turtles. I could tell that I was the only one in the class who saw that film and knew it wasn't good(Even the teacher never seen the film), but I was obviously outvoted. So we put the film on, and we didn't even get past the scene where they're at the docks for EVERYONE to essentially go "This is boring". So the teacher took the film out and put Spider-Man 2 on, and we all enjoyed the film.
Honestly, the movie, despite all the issues it has, justifies it's existence for flawlessly bringing Bebop and Rocksteady into live-action. They're the best part about this film, no cap.
@alyssahansen1400 Wait, sure Casey was never a cop, but his dad was at least once depicted as cop in 2003 series, so I guess this idea kinda works?! I understand why people don't like, but it has some form of establishment of lesser known facts of TMNT franchise
@@ashesGeek Arnold Jones Sr. isn't the same Casey Jones though. I don't really remember him being a cop either but I forget things sometimes. Casey as a character is meant to be a vigilante that goes too far. He's not a vigilante if he's a cop (unless it is a Nobody type situation), and him going too far makes it very troubling if he is a cop and has institutional power instead of being some random guy. Which they did do in this film which is why I called the bar scene 'very disturbing'. I can't see any way for Casey to be a good cop unless you remove some core character traits from him. Doing that would take away the relationship between Casey and Raphael, though I think this movie did that anyway. Casey in the Mirage comics struck me as more of an anti-authority figure so it is very strange to me to think an iteration of him would end up being portrayed as a cop.
@@alyssahansen1400 so, what's stopping making him a "rebel" cop who goes too hard with his authorities sometimes and can be seen as dangerous? I know the movie wasn't going to do that because it's just a big attraction you all look too deep into for whatever reason, but that idea is interesting in its potential and Casey was probably the best character in the movie aside from Vernon Like seriously, weren't there any cops who were pushing the line too far with their job and power in a history of fiction? Really?
@@ashesGeek I actually did address that in my comment. It is hard to root for a character who's flaw is abusing their power to hurt people. And he still wouldn't be a vigilante in that scenario. You can disagree with me and think it was in character if you want. I think it was a bad move either way. I watched this movie with my brother and both of us were questioning why he acted nothing like Casey Jones until the bar scene came up. You can have character changes and still make it interesting (Vernon definitely was a departure from his 1987 counterpart as well, though actually I didn't care much for him in this movie I don't have strong feelings), but I think making him a cop is a change for the worse not the better. Besides I'm kind of sick of that character type and don't personally find it compelling. If they wanted a cop ally character I would have preferred they did Nobody but honestly the cop angle wasn't necessary to begin with in my opinion.
Warner Bros-Discovery is so frustrating these days, can’t even be bothered to release stuff that is already finished and people would want to watch over a new season of Velma because of some nebulous tax write offs. Then Zaslav acts surprised people and especially “the kids” aren’t watching the few things Max still has as he continues to eliminate everything people liked about WB and DCEU and promote obviously-bad ideas no one wants like a Suicide Squad live-service looter-shooter.
@@JeffreyThrash Wouldn't releasing the movie earn him more money anyway? It's already finished, why not release it and see if people like it? It seems like an even bigger waste of a budget to finish the movie only to not release it.
@@princessCashel That's exactly what I've been yelling at the top of my lungs for a while now. The movie's budget was $80 Million. Zaslav shelved it for a a $30 million tax write-off. Simple math dictates that WB-Discovery suffered a net loss of $50 million by choosing that tax write-off instead of at least attempting to see if the movie would have made back its budget, or at the very least lost far less money than $50 million for the studio.
@@JeffreyThrash So they didn't even make back half the budget? That makes it even worse. They could've even released it in theaters to give it more of a chance. If I worked for Warner-Discovery, I would gladly lose my job and leak the movie. That sounds like an awesome way to quit.
It's the TMNT equivalent of The Suicide Squad. They take out stuff didn't work, add stuff that will, and all without the need of fully rebooting the whole thing.
I briefly saw a bit of the second James Gunn version of Suicide Squad, it actually looked really good and, like this second MB-produced Ninja Turtles movie, seemed to really benefit from being more “fun” story- and quip-wise than the first attempt. Shame that both sequels’ box office numbers are a sore reminder that you only get one chance to make a good first impression. Plus Suicide Squad also has to suffer the fate of being more associated with WB’s incredibly-misguided use of Rocksteady’s talent in the recent SS game these days, as well as the James Gunn movie being buried by pandemic-related disruptions…
I remember when the film crew & the internet treated this movie like a big apology letter to TMNT fans. In the end it didn’t do to well financially compared to the first one and most fans at the time went “still could have been better”. I remember popular UA-camrs online really hating on this movie, like Nostalgia Critic & Honest Trailers. And that pickle commercial was released years before the first one and the pickle brand didn’t exist?! And it looked like a costume was used there? My wild guess… *CRACK-POT THEORY:* At first the film crew considered using costumes for the movie and set up MOC ups to test them out, but they went with CGI in the end. And guys who make parodies went “if you ain’t using those costumes in the end, we can use them in our raunchy parodies” years before the film finally released as it really took that long for it to be finished. I’ve heard of films that take years to even decades to complete.
Pan's humor it's kind of like if you take some reference humor and made some jokes of it yeah that's his humor right there. (my comment feel like if pan had said that)
My takeaway from Out of the Shadows was "let's try that again, but better this time." The plot of the turtles having to learn to work together all over again, with basically the same resolution, really made it feel less like a sequel and more like a do-over.
I like to imagine a scenario where the TMNT villains from other continuities are freaked out by the much bigger 2014 turtles and call them monsters only for them to say “Well look who’s talking”
Its pretty fascinating to me that paramount essentialy has this trend where they do sequels to adaptations theyve done (those being GI Joe retalation, out of the shadows, bumblebee, and Sonic 2) and try to make them feel and look more like the source material, which in the end only ones that suceeded well enough to continue forward rather than just get rebooted again were sonic and transformers.
The difference with those two success stories is that Bumblebee was a hard reboot of the franchise, while Sonic 2 was built on a solid foundation since people actually enjoyed the first one and wanted more. Bay's Turtles were, from what I've seen, rotten to the core. There was no other path forward other than a reboot, which we thankfully got in the form of the excellent animation last year, which is now moving forward as the next big generation of the franchise.
Personally, Paramount should’ve just made their adaptations closer to the source material from the start, instead of doing it after the original movie comes out.
So fun fact, not sure if you will read this and I would look more into it, but I learned a lot about Michael Bay films from one of my film classes and the reason why the turtles might be pro-police is because Michael Bay films are heavily funded by the military industrial complex, thus he has to show a positive correlation between the two. That's actually the reason a lot of Hollywood blockbusters make the army look so good, but that's also so when the film gets exported to other countries they correlate the American military system with capability and strength.
Yep, the first movie is a good attempt at story and narrative in such an alien cover and the second one is a shallow attempt to please TMNT boomers who would still be complaining about it being unoriginal.
@RB01.10 that and weak plot was the biggest reason the movie flopped. You can like or dislike the first movie, but at least we can agree it had an actual plot and it was developing along the way. Out of the Shadows on the other hand is just set of unconnected fighting scenes and a lot of dropped plots like Turtles wondering to become humans. It was obvious most movies take most popular and simple references not doing much with it but at least Bay and the gang could've looked was TMNT 2012 crew did with references at the same time. Out of the Shadows is still fun attraction just like all Michael Bay movies were planned to be, but considering what potential first movie gave us in terms of narrative we could've gotten MUCH better movie. At least good thing TMNT 2012 producers continued to do their own wonderful thing despite all the backlash the show was getting at start just like Bay movies P.S I couldn't leave it without mentioning that despite Out of the Shadows had much more action all of that just wasn't as close as impressive as truck scene on the mountain in first movie, probably the best and most cinematic Michael Bay action scene in all his movies.
@@princessCashel Probably also why that one wasn’t as successful as the first. There was a 3rd film planned but it was scrapped because the second film didn’t make as much money as the first (not to mention the plot of the third film sounds like a rehash of Zombie Island). I remember as a kid watching the first film a lot but I never cared much for the second film. Always found it boring and forgettable.

3:40 this question is part of the reason I am not a fan of the continuity where sensei was born a rat his entire life, I prefer the 2012 continuity where he was once human and brother to shredder who was adopted from the enemy clan.
well in those continuities there's the added detail that shredder murdered splinter's owner which yeah means splinter is literally nobody to shredder but i feel its a neat take on the rivalry. Basically its like that famous quot from the shitty street fighter movie: "for you, the day Shredder came into your life was the worst day of your life. For me? it was tuesday." th 2012 version is also the same bacstory as th 80's version, btw
I really don't care what people say, this movie kicked ass. It has problems definitely upon rewatches but this film clearly fucking loves the turtles. Not only that Michael Bay's TMNT design looks cursed, but it's also one of the reasons why we almost got the ugly live-action Sonic the Hedgehog due to Paramount profited off the success of live-action TMNT and Transformers. Let that sink in.

If we were to get the sequel nowadays, it would be a spinoff for the villains and the Turtles would probably be executed on a parkbench by rocksteady and beepbop
If they had given Stephen Amell a brown wig, change his personality and keep his mask on, he probably would've been a decent Casey Jones. Not as good as Elias Koteas, but could've worked. Sadly, they didn't even try to make him Casey.

It’s crazy how they wanted this film to be more family friendly and get rid of the guns and then years later just to have the Turtles themselves use guns in Fortnite
The thing that bothers me about seeing Donatello's hand grow extra digits is that I'm then reminded that the Ninja Turtles have fewer digits on each hand than either a human or a turtle.
I’m not a huge Tmnt fan but i think what Michael bay would of done was to have Stephen amell play green arrow again and we would’ve seen a crossover between arrow and tmnt that would of been epic!

Yep, the first movie is a good attempt at story and narrative in such an alien cover and the second one is a shallow attempt to please TMNT boomers who would still be complaining about it being unoriginal.
@@ashesGeekAgreed
The fan service and nostalgia was way overused, maybe part of the reason why it flopped
At least good thing TMNT 2012 producers continued to do their own wonderful thing despite all the backlash the show was getting at start just like Bay movies
P.S I couldn't leave it without mentioning that despite Out of the Shadows had much more action all of that just wasn't as close as impressive as truck scene on the mountain in first movie, probably the best and most cinematic Michael Bay action scene in all his movies.
0:06 That music from the battle nexus Fugitoid escort level brings back memories
I'm surprised Pan has never done a retrospective of all the TMNT cartoons; seems right up his alley.
“So how much TMNT lore do you want in this sequel?”
Yes!!!
Yeah that’s why IMO it wasn’t as successful.
Story was lacking, and felt like one big nostalgia fan service movie
It's kinda like the live action Scooby Doo 2. Great nostalgia-fest movie for Scooby Doo fans, but not much else.

13:25 fun fact that’s Ruby rose up there you should do the JLxRWBY movies and how they may have killed Rooster Teeth.
He should do a video on the rise and fall of rooster teeth and talk about the history of rooster teeth and RWBY in that video.
I'd love a RWBY video in general, especially with how in-depth he goes about the making of. Monty Oum was one talented dude
@@aeroburger He is really one talented dude he should talk about him in this video alongside the history and creation of rooster teeth and RWBY in that video he's going to only talk about him rooster teeth and RWBY in that video.

I don't blame the director of Earth to Echo directing this sequel!
Thanks for still making videos. I really enjoy the stuff you put out

*Brad Fuller:* We need this film to be more family friendly. And nothing says “family friendly” more than Megan Fox looking sexy! Right?
"Turtles protect fetuses with honor!"
... Holy hell! Context please?
About that German ad... it's fake
It's not actually a banned 90's German Commercial. The American Filmmakers who made it had an English version on their website. Uploaded in 2016 around the same time as the 2016 YT Upload.
As for the 2008 Vimeo Upload, there's a few options but most likely
The code for their vid was manipulated to say 16 Years Ago, since Vimeo dosen't show specific months dates and years. A UA-cam Video claiming to be from 2004 did this a couple years back before they were discovered
I knew there was a deeper story to this. I figured there was some way to manipulate the upload date
@@RebelTaxiYeah because that costume looks too much like the movies to have been made years before
I wish 4kids funky cops English dub wasnt lost media 😢
3:40 this question is part of the reason I am not a fan of the continuity where sensei was born a rat his entire life, I prefer the 2012 continuity where he was once human and brother to shredder who was adopted from the enemy clan.
well in those continuities there's the added detail that shredder murdered splinter's owner which yeah means splinter is literally nobody to shredder but i feel its a neat take on the rivalry. Basically its like that famous quot from the shitty street fighter movie: "for you, the day Shredder came into your life was the worst day of your life. For me? it was tuesday."
th 2012 version is also the same bacstory as th 80's version, btw
I really don't care what people say, this movie kicked ass. It has problems definitely upon rewatches but this film clearly fucking loves the turtles. I will never forget watching this in theaters and looking up with pleasant surprise when I heard the first few notes of the opening theme at the end credits and proudly sang along.

10 foot tall turtles and Donnie wearing glasses... I mean, they pretty much have a healing factor, but Donnie has to have glasses because he's a nerd.
I didn't know Sheamus tried to be an actor for a hot minute!
alright Pan you need to drop the Funky Cops video NOW
Funky Cops is are generation's Shaft (1971)
I thought it was alright then years later gave it a rewatch and..huh it’s okay with some snacks (or pizza) or something to put in the background while you do something esle
I love how so many creators use out of context clips of Nostalgia Critic to make him look insane
i keep forgetting that GOB is in these movies. Somehow he sticks out more than the cgi turtles
I only remember having a good time with my friend and his brother at the theater more than the actual film
16:26 TURTLES DEFEND FETUSES WITH HONOR
"Casey was cool because he looks like he would leave his kids in the hot car."
These turtles are still horrendous to look at. It's also weird that how Shredder went from being a shadowy figure, to looking all bootleg and lame.
can’t wait to watch, you’re always so funny
14:00-14:20 Conversation of Ninjitsu...the trope that plagues every hypercompetent mooks like ninjas in every show it appears. The Foot clan has been plagued badly in film.😔

I need an episode on Mission Hill.
We're turtles not TORTOISES!
There's a BIG difference-Raph
Idunno, Uncle Phil played the original cartoon shredder.
Ngl its kinda surreal to hear the ost for the 03 battle nexus console game being used in more more better known media. I still play that game to this game as its a childhood favorite of mine and I'm glad people know that it has some bangers they can use
I really liked this one, especially after HATING the first. Nobody wanted to see a sequel after that, and I don't blame them. I'm sad it never got a third entry. I think a third one could have really gotten it all together. Oh well...
Pan this is the funniest video you have uploaded in years.
As easy as it is to riff on the first film that Shredder blade suit from the Splinter encounter you mentioned was EASILY the coolest ****ing thing to come out of the first movie
Man i forgot how shredder was treated so dirty in this sequel, never has a rematch with the turtles or splinter. Gets randomly betrayed by krang and gets frozen in ice for sequel bai-
Oh, wait!🤔😑
8:27 someone please tell me the name of this kind of bumper from Cartoon Network
Miguzi?
Not only that Michael Bay's TMNT design looks cursed, but it's also one of the reasons why we almost got the ugly live-action Sonic the Hedgehog due to Paramount profited off the success of live-action TMNT and Transformers. Let that sink in.
Nah Garfield or Scooby doo also got ugly realistic designs so it’s more an executive mentality
@@Basile.BowBowscoobydoo was not ugly😂. For what it was scooby looked good. He looked somewhat like a real dog but still maintained his cartoony features and i think the cgi still holds up somewhat. He didnt look bad at all. He'd probably look worse if they tried to make him look exactly like the cartoon but in live action cgi and oh wait they did do that for those cartoon network prequel films and he looked much worse in those.
Maybe talk about the comic now 🤓 awesome vid rebel love your style. Usually watch it late at night, save it, like watching those late night cartoons lol thanks pal very nice
Great Video Pan I always like watching your videos and I'm a Big Ninja Turtles Fan so this was a lot of fun to watch

It’s crazy how they wanted this film to be more family friendly and get rid of the guns and then years later just to have the Turtles themselves use guns in Fortnite
What's funny is that Bebop and Rocksteady are oddly more competant here than they've EVER been, I think.
Bebop and Rocksteady from 2012 series. That's all that's needed to be said about "competent" argument
I saw the first movie with my older brother. Great memory.
