    FHL fan here. I'm a transplanted yankee living in NC and I had a team get dropped 20 minutes from my house so it was a pretty easy decision to start watching the Thunderbirds, it's live hockey for dirt cheap. There's 10 teams in the league now, some folded, others joined, etc. The SPHL is definitely at a higher level than the FHL, we get a lot of guys signed to SPHL/ECHL teams for a few weeks on PTOs. It's a very physical league, lots of hard hits and fights. Fun to go to on a Friday night.

    The FHL is interesting to say the least. I've seen them play rec teams when the weather is to bad for the other team to show up. What was more fun was when they had a team in Dayton. Nothing like having fully grown hockey players arguing with fans in the middle of games.

    The SPHL is far above the FHL. They've have 2 former players in the NHL, one as a player and one as a ref

      Lee Marion The player who is not a player it's a goalie. Scott Darling. He played for the now defunct SPHL team the Louisiana IceGators and if I'm correct the Mississipi Riverkings. And the ref is Peter McDougal he was a player for the defunct Columbus Cottonmouths before he was a ref.

    • @danger170388
      @danger170388 6 років тому

      Duncan Welker correct, I'm friends with Pete, he's a great guy. Tough as hell when he played, good fighter. Won the Championship with Columbus. Also, Alex Gallant also played for Columbus made it in the AHL, had a 2 Way Contract with Tampa this season, didn't get called up but he got in a couple preseason games last season with San Jose

    • @billywelker5245

    If I recall correctly when the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) merged with the West Coast Hockey League they dropped East Coast Hockey League just going with ECHL the letters now meaning nothing. At that time there was the United Hockey League so they couldn't adopt that name.

      The WHL (and QMJHL and OHL for that matter) is a junior league, similar to something like the USHL, or even the NCAA. Since they're not officially professional's the leagues don't officially feed into this system that I talked about in the video. If a player from the WHL were to get drafted and turn pro however, they'd be put into one of three of the NHL, AHL, or ECHL depending on their skill level.

      @annatruong4239 5 років тому

      Be My Muse wrong. You’re ignorant. You do realize the top Europe/Asia league is the khl. A MAJOR. Yes, a MAJOR PRO league. It’s skill level is lower than the. Nhl, but higher than the ahl by a LONG GAP. Paval datsuk,evgeni malkin, Alex ovechkin. Know all those names right? They have played in the khl. And pavel datsuk returned to the khl after the nhl. There have been 3 nhl vs khl games. The nhl won 2. Khl won 1. Yes. That’s right. The khl beat an nhl team.

    • @annatruong4239
      @annatruong4239 5 років тому

      I’m not Russian obviously. And I do not watch the khl. But you guys are so ignorant lol. The khl once again, is a major pro league. MAJOR. Not scrub players. REAL players. It is made up of mostly Russian players. And Russia is Top 3 in the entire world. So it’s just really stupid if you say Russia’s league suck. It’s lower than the nhl in skill level obviously, but it is higher than the ahl by a HUGE margin. Like it’s actually not even close. A khl team would destroy an ahl team 50-0. But an nhl and a khl team would be way different. If they were to play 100 games. The nhl would probably win 70-80 percent of it. But there is absolutely no doubt the khl would win AT LEAST 10 games out of the 100. Remember. There have been 3 khl vs nhl games. A KHL beat the hurricanes 5-3. Lost against the coyotes 3-1. And lost against the rangers by one goal. 4-3.

    What about the OHL?

    • @eatDAmeats416
      @eatDAmeats416 6 років тому

      EvilOrso there are no nhl affiliations with Canadian or American junior hockey leagues such as the OHL, WHL, CHL, QMJHL, USHL, ext... If there was , it would defeat the purpose of the draft(e.g Mitch marner was drafted from the London nights (OHL) by the Toronto Maple leafs (nhl) if there was an affiliations between those 2 teams the TML would be unable to select a player from any other junior team, such as Travis Dermott (Erie otters)) the reason this is the case is bc the NHL/AHL are pro men's leagues so players must be 18 and above, there are Dev programs that are run by NHL teams for players under that age but require no obligation from the players to sign their rights away. I hope this is clear
