KTM 790 Adventure / 890 Adventure / R / L TOURING skid plate - Weight : 3,9Kg - Made of 8mm thick HDPE plastic, this new version keeps the best of the old model and adds some improvements, including a compatibility with the KTM center stand. The AXP skid plate offers a better protection on each side of the fuel tank by covering the fuel pump and adding a foam pad in between to avoid friction and slivers of paint. We redesigned the skid plate to make the fitment easier with the KTM fuel pump. The mudguard is now placed in front of the plate to prevent melting and its new shape avoids any issue with the front fender. The welds have been modified and reinforced thanks to 4mm alloy parts placed inside of the plate. A small hole on the right side of the engine guard allows to pass the hose through.

I have installed mine on my 2021 KTM 890 Adventure S that has the KTM OEM center stand on it. I did not have to remove the center stand for the installation. I was able to do the install with the bike on the side stand with a bit more care. There were no glitches. It went very well with no bits or pieces left over. It does not interfere with anything on the bike during or after the installation. I am extremely impressed with how well this thing was put together and how clean the installation went. The installation document that came with the skid plate is thorough and easy to understand. I did watch the installation video a few times and it helped a great deal. Kudos to AXP. This is just what I wanted.
Thanks a lot for your feedback ! We are glad to read that you did not face any issue with the installation.
Now that everything’s set, you just have to enjoy the ride 😃
How Like to See One on Honda Transalp !!
The Honda Transalp skid plate is available right there ➡ www.axp-racing.com/en/product/skid-plate-honda-xl750-transalp-2023-2024-black-ax1727
Hope you'll like it 😉
Have the V1 plate, bought for 790r's and transferred to 890r's. Is it easier to do an oil change with V2 vs V1 plate,?
There is no difference between V1 and V2 regarding oil change as the rear fixations and the lower part of the skid plates are almost the same. The modifications affect the sides of the bike and some small other details. Thanks!
@@axpracing Thanks for the clarity.
Nearly $400 skid plate and we have to cut out the foam ourselves? And really any of the hardware that doesn't need to be compacted for shipping should be installed as well
Regarding the screws and bolts, we don’t know any brand that sells pre-assembled skid plates, no matter the price.
And, it is clearly shown in all our videos that customers have to cut the foam themselves. The aim is for the customers to choose whether to stick the foam on the inside of the skid plate or directly on the tank; this way, we can satisfy (almost) everyone.
Thank you.
Ordered the touring skid plate before viewing this video. I’ll be returning the touring skid plate in exchange the Hard skid plate. My mistake for not watching the install videos first. I do not want to attach a skid plate to the engine case or give up ground clearance/add the additional weight of a center stand.
Indeed, the hard version is the one you need then 😉
Back ordered, back ordered, back ordered back ordered back ordered.... When will it be in stock again> Gen 2 touring for 2024 790 adventure??
In a way, we are glad to see that the skid plate is a victim of its own success 😉
We have several dealers in the US and recently sent new stocks. However, if you don’t want to wait for the dealers, the Touring skid plate is always available directly on our website: www.axp-racing.com/en/product/skid-plate-ktm-790-890-adventure-r-l-touring-gen-2-2019-2024-black-ax1737
Thanks!
@@axpracing I placed my order at Rottweiler. Let's see what happens
The video is well done, but it doesn't take into account the fact that the video shows the installation in a bile with decat Arrow. With the original cat and central stand installed the installation is far more complicated, one of the screw that has to be removed is very difficult to reach, it takes me more that one hour only for remove it....
Hello,
We are sorry to hear about the long time you spent mounting the skid plate. Indeed, this screw is very difficult to reach, even with the Arrow decat, but, unfortunately, there weren't any other easier solution.
Thanks !
But how do I fit it with the centerstand?
Hello,
Thanks for your question.
As you can see on the video, we don’t use the fixation points that are used by the KTM center stand.
So you need to fix the center stand first and then you can add the skid plate using the aluminum fixations that are included in the box.
