NatureHike has really been making waves in the outdoor space. I've purchased the huge 8 person tent and their lightweight backpacking camp chair through reviews Luke has made, but I'm very impressed with the quality for the price. More importantly, I am grateful for the honest and accurate reviews he has made on his channel. Thank you, sir!
I have maintained for years that self inflating air mattresses must be stored fully inflated. Prolonged compression will eventually degrade the inner foam. I only deflate mine when I am packing to go on an adventure. Cheers from Winnipeg.
This is true. Unfortunately for me since I live in apartment I have no space to do this. Must store packed up tight. My loss. But good advice for those who have space
When any material is compressed or stretched, what is actually happening, is imagine all the atoms are little circles touching each other, when you pull them apart, or push them together, they displace nearby atoms. depending on the distance displaced, and amount of time, these lattice deformations can become permanent, and the displaced atoms can never reclaim their original positions. this is why tarps stretch, and other things deform permanently and warp under pressure. but anyways i agree. it's funny, i have a ranger mat and had a piece of gorilla tape on the end where i tie it up to protect it from indentations. but the part where the tape was, created a permanent divot the exact depth and size of the tape which sits there forever now. 😂
I bought two pads like this from Backcountry (Stoic) almost two years ago. They are awesome. Many brands are selling them now. Not all of them use the 360 valve (which i love!). I wouldn't need the pump. I open it up when i put it in my tent, then sometime before bed, i give it 2 or three short breaths and close it, later I often carefully let out some air as im laying on it, for maximum comfort. I use a full fitted sheet on the double and a sleeping bag liner on the single for feel and cleanliness. I store them unrolled, up against a wall, with the valves wide open. I only put them in the stuff sacks for transport. R value is definitely high, almost too high.
I have the backcountry stoic brand also. I use my Ryobi to put some air and also to suck out air. Makes it easier to roll up. Cannot do the knees like Luke.
I have an Exped Megamat 10 about ten years old that looks almost the same in both dimensions and the red color. Even the material you describe as a soft stretch. If it has the R value this has it's over 8. I'm spoiled and don't think I could camp on anything less, especially since I'm getting older.
I've had the LostHorizon version from amazon for a month or so (same jet engine air pump included, and the mattress is an almost exact clone down to the valves and storage/inflation bag). So damn comfortable and easy to pick up and put out the way (less pain to move around than a plain air mattress.) If you are in a hurry to inflate; roll out the bed and do two bag fulls from the inflation bag; that gets it to the firmness I prefer. Build quality on mine appears to be good, but you know how hit or miss some of the clones can be. We will see how it holds up once it starts getting cold.
I have a 4.5 inch Natures Nest in my RTT and it sleeps very well. I bought a cheap air pump that lets me inflate and deflate very quickly. FSR now offers a 6 inch air mattress but the Natures nest is as good as it gets.
I bought a similar sleeping pad/air mattress from Lost Horizon. That one is 4.5" thick and was similar in price. All of the same qualities and fill valve. I really love this air mattress. It has survived a lot of nights. Super comfortable and easy to dial in a setting. The air pump can be used to inflate or deflate the mattress. The latter is handy when trying to stuff it back into the carrying bag. Ours is a queen size, so it's a bit more of a handful to deal with. It is leaps and bounds better than the cheapie $50 air mattresses you get at Big5 etc. One big bonus to the Lost Horizon mattress is that it is Coyote Brown.
It took 2 days for my NatureHike mattress to self inflate. It was usable after 1 day but it still wasn't fully inflated. That's why the air pump is included, IMO. It is very comfortable even on 1 day. My use cases are in my RAVV4 and in my tent. I will be using it over the next couple of weeks including a cross country trip.
We always use a sheet on our Exped duo, there is no need for a sleeping bag underneath as its R value is 8.3 we just have a two zinvle down sleeping bags opened up to form a duvet that is in two layers so easy to adjust for heat regulation. Flextail pump used in vacuum mode makes deflation about 4 times quicker. The cost of the naturehike is amazing value.
When you're camping in hot weather, you could use the air pump as a fan! Of course, it'd probably keep you awake because it's so loud, but at least you'd be cool. LOL!!
As always, thanks for unbiased review with no agenda! It does seem like overkill to have 2 other ways to inflate a self inflated bag but always good to have a back up!
I bought the same nature hike sleeping pads but the double pad and used the wrong side of the inflator and it vacuumed the mattress flat. Easy to roll up that way
I bought this right after I seen your review, and I followed your link. I did not get the air pump. I did test it out and it is great! But it is too long for my vehicle. I have a 2003 Toyota Highlander. I had to move the front seats, driver and passenger seats all the way up. Still too long. I do love the pad; guess I need a larger vehicle.
Hi love all your videos. Question how long did you leave your phone on top of the inflating mattress? The whole 5 minutes? I would take that into account of time to inflate so I’m thinking it might be ok to buy.
The quality of this pad seems to be comparable to the GearDoctors item, which doesn't include the pump -- but sells for about $25 less. Unless you can wait for a sale price, like I did! Been using it daily for many months very happily.
That thing's looking really great, but unfortunately it costs 200,- up here. Way to much for this. Maybe I'll try the Qeedo Cloudmat seems to be in the same range but for about half the price .
Always looked up to your awesome review, and all the work that you put into your videos. But sometimes i think it would be nice to dig a bit more into where these products are actually made and perhabs some little insight into the working condition/environmental impact.... Cheaper good quality products aren't always the way to go 😊
Does that pump allow you to deflate the matress? Hook up to the top of the pump? I find that would be a more valuable feature as those thick pads are tough to role up.
Cindy here from Mimnesota, Do u ever test out hiking shoes and snow/winter shoes or boots? I would love to know what Susie wears as im sure she has tried several pair and she find the best that hold up to the advertised standards.
Luke can you please do a review and rain test on the onetigeris platoon tent, I'd like to know if it's worth buying or stay away from it, i've seen it being used on other camp channels but only in dry weather.
Great Find! As you test further, the “cotton” outer bag is made to “inflate?” I’m not sure that’s enough info. I hope you play with that feature, to help us figure out how we could use that bag. I assumed at first it was a dry bag, but clearly cotton wouldn’t be used for that, nor would cotton allow for holding air inside the bag very well….The air pump may be a hint but I’d love to know “wassup” with that. Otherwise, I’d consider buying it. For years now we’ve used the large inflatable Queen-sized mattresses for better and often for worse….I’d pay more to have something smaller and better built that is comfortable for “everyone” to use for a couple nights in a row.
He shows the connector at the bottom of the bag... just like other pump bags, you connect it to the pad, fill the bag with air, then roll and squeeze the bag to force the air into the pad.... then open the. Ag to refill with air and repeat.
@@MrFTP OH, Ok…you think it is a “pump bag” for inflating the self-inflating sleeping pad….that makes sense…sorta. I was wondering if they were thinking it was a pillow of some sort, but your thought is better….it’s also now even funnier that they claim it is “self-inflating” since they include TWO alternative methods to waiting around for it to self-inflate in a couple minutes…thanks!
If I hadn’t already spent $563 (CAD) on the Exped Megamat 15 last year (awesome mat), I’d try the Naturehike or DOD mat for the cost savings. Someone make a compare vid.
I have an inflatsble air mattress it deflates in the middle of the night when you are fast asleep. Perhaps it waits until you are asleep then it starts to deflate causing you to have a sore painful back 8n the morning that is if you don't have to get up in the middle of the night to reinflate it. I got it for my kids. 🤔
i got an elegear 3" foam/inflatable a few weeks ago and it's been great. it fits a litefighter 1 perfectly, is about the same size in the bag as this pad, and is so plush i can finally sleep on my side. for $70.
I had a Thermarest MondoKing XXL inflatable mattress like that but found that I am too much of a side sleeper, my arm would hang off the edge and give me horrible shoulder pain the next morning. Just switched to one of the trifold Milliard 6" thick memory foam mattresses that is a little wider to try instead. We will see if that works for me here in a few weeks when it is cool enough here for car camping. Thanks for the video Luke! An included air pump is pretty sweet.
Luke, will you try out a Hikenture air mattress? LOTS and LOTS of Naturehike reviews on your channel But no Hikenture some are 9.5 R value, car camping only but that’s this mattress too Since winter is coming it would be a good time for testing
I'm testing out an Elegear Self Inflating Sleeping Pad, 3.1 " from Amazon has colors of Blue, green and gray. As of today, it is selling for 79.99 Regular price 85.99. It states the first inflation might take 20 minutes and it did. it is made of 50D stretch knit fabric which is supposed to be breathable, sweat-absorbing, heat insulating and tear proof, with an R-value of 9.5. and only 8.1 lbs. Will find out on it all as I go camping with the Boy Scouts.
Skyemac now sells an "Upgrade Double Pad" that comes with a pump that fits flush into a compartment built into the side of the pad, that secures shut. It inflates if you push it one way and deflates if you push it the other way, and sucks it down quite effectively. The carry sack is plenty large to fit it in after compressed and strapped. Still takes some strength and dedication to roll it up.
Also the carry sack that comes with it doubles as and inflation bag, if the pump battery is dead in the medium size air pump. They state R value is 13.

Picked up a NatureHike down sleeping bag for $100 on Temu. Steal! 😂

That’s the one I have for bed of my truck. It’s pretty nice I think lost horizon says the r value is like 13 or something
We bought the Lost Horizon one a year ago and it has endured many nights and it still looks brand new.
That perfect hair didn’t even flinch when you ran that pump right at it. 😂
i knew i wasn't the only one 😂 Love ya Luke LOL

Decathlon has a 70cm one that I own. It's r-value is 9. I love mine it was £70 when I bought 2. Keep up the good work 👍
I generally suck the air out with the air pump. One side should be suction. Looks awesome.
Dude?!?! Your hair didn’t move at all with that air! LOL
I also recently grabbed a Lost Horizon pad. Soooooo comfy
Great video as always Luke ty for sharing plenty of options which is good for the competition.
I bought the same nature hike sleeping pads but the double pad and used the wrong side of the inflator and it vacuumed the mattress flat. Easy to roll up that way
Nice my buddy just got a nature hike tent and it worked well in the rain last weekend. We were camping in the Adirondacks at Rollins Pond.
That little pump sounded like someone firing up an RC jet.
Yes it did. 🙂
I bought this right after I seen your review, and I followed your link. I did not get the air pump. I did test it out and it is great! But it is too long for my vehicle. Thank you for your insight.
Hi could you do a review of the naturehike star river 2 ultralight tent? It looks very good and also weighs very little compared to the old version.
I really like my UST FILLmatic. They're comfortable and they stand up to my dogs toenails
Hi love all your videos. Question how long did you leave your phone on top of the inflating mattress? The whole 5 minutes? I would take that into account of time to inflate so I’m thinking it might be ok to buy.
I turn the air pump around and use it to suck all the air out. Making it very simple to roll up.

Thank you for your thorough review... just subscribed
Something like this would have been fantastic when I was looking for a car camping mattress. I bought a Nemo Roamer because it packs down smaller.
the issue i see here is that flip around valve, they tend to leak and you can almost never get them perfectly aligned to stop leaks
That thing's looking really great, but unfortunately it costs 200,- up here. Way to much for this. Maybe I'll try the Qeedo Cloudmat seems to be in the same range but for about half the price .

I like how large the sack seems.
Luke, you need hearing protection when using that pump. The fact that Nature Hike included the pump, tells me they are thinking about their customers.
You'll NEVER need a fire bellows again with that pump handy🤣
Mmmm white label goodness
Luke... did you get a new camera? The picture quality and colors are excellent!
Looks EXACTLY like my Qomotop mattresses that I got for $27 from Woot! Same design, same valve, same inflation bag.
No longer available
Love pumps to quickly delfate
Does that pump allow you to deflate the matress? Hook up to the top of the pump? I find that would be a more valuable feature as those thick pads are tough to role up.
i have the single sized matress (3inches) along with my other camping gears in my car for those instant adventures..
Luke, that pump could be used to deflate the mattress extra flat.
Tom from Syracuse NY.

great point 👉
With the attachments, can you use the pump to deflate the mat? Just a though.
That's quite a big single matress
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY Luke and thank you for sharing your adventures and equipment testing and sharing the facts and truth
The url in the description is wrong for naturehike mattress
Have you seen the "Gas One Rocket stove" Oo looks nice
Luke can you please do a review and rain test on the onetigeris platoon tent, I'd like to know if it's worth buying or stay away from it, i've seen it being used on other camp channels but only in dry weather.
The page displayed on the video states R9.5
just use a flexitail minipump. Super easy, small and lightweight. That pump is way too big :-)
The infos on Amazon show the R-value 9.5. It's in one of the pictures.

Are you not paying attention to the ad on Amazon? it quite clearly states that the R-value is 9.5 you've shown it twice in this video. Lol
Hey Luke how would this do on a cot like the one tigris or even the teton cot?
Wooooooooo awesome stream have a great day
Can you do a review on the exped megamat 10 there are very little review about it and they do not give the full details on how it performs.
The Amazon link states the R-value is 9.5.
Great for hiking 😂
Currently listed on Amazon for $129 with a $15 off coupon to drop the price to $114 for the twin size.
Amazon uk states, that mattress is £270 😅😅😅 naturehike and Amazon are smoking crack at that price 😂😂
If I hadn’t already spent $563 (CAD) on the Exped Megamat 15 last year (awesome mat), I’d try the Naturehike or DOD mat for the cost savings. Someone make a compare vid.
Luke acting as if he's never seen an air pump before 🤷🏼♂️
Nice I Like it cool.
Great American Video Freedom FKH Wolverines
Is it possible to attach the air pump so that it sucks air out of the mattress?
I’ve owned the air bedz mattress for years very similar to that one

Unfortunately the Naturehike is $297AUD(amazon US import) here in Australia while the DOD is $329AUD from an Australian supplier.
Anything that's made in USA will cost you triple...why ?? GREED ❗❗❗❗

still expensive, I got a cheep one from amazon that was the same as that for £55
I just checked Amazon and the twin version is currently unavailable which is a shame….

I see that rotating valve disappearing into the mattress one day.
quite often the high end companies use cheap materials from China hence why companies like Naturehike can make similar but better products
I'll keep my stoic self inflating foam pad for 80$
How tall are you?
Luke, will you try out a Hikenture air mattress?
LOTS and LOTS of Naturehike reviews on your channel
But no Hikenture
some are 9.5 R value, car camping only but that’s this mattress too
Since winter is coming it would be a good time for testing
I’ll say it again. Please do a tour of your gear room.
