Did You see what Hoonigan's title for this video is ? [just appeared for me] "BoostedBoiz 1300 hp Toyota MR2 vs Ken Block's AWD 1400 hp Mustang ..." They boosted the hp rating for BoostedBoiz MR2 and decreased the Mustang from the usual 1400, and as Kyle stated they had increased it to about 1600 hp too. Clearly, they purposely arrange the situation to their advantage, and "Hype". The captured comments of some of these fellows, conveys they know and appreciate this MR2, actually, and also unable to perform with its developed power, and commented about the tire marks down the entire length of the road-track. Kyle stated, also with this issue of the tires slipping, they still had turned down the boost such they were using only about 600 hp. Their power/weight advantage was lost, due to the lack of traction. Perhaps a different version tire for the street, and wider could be been helpful too. Sincerely

Gotta remember the Hoonicorn is AWD and with tires made for an un-prepped surface and is tuned perfectly for this strip of road, 100% home court advantage. Would love to see the hoonicorn vs some of these cars on a prepped track and see if it still dominates on a real 1/4mi track.
to be fair since they got fresh tyres they could've sent it and asked for radials instead of slicks. go hard or go home. they would've probably snapped both axles on the first launch, but if they didn't the hoonicorn would've been left in a cloud of dust. sometimes kyle is just to doubtful of his and his car abilities.

man after watching all those “this vs. that” videos and seeing how unprepared the cars the hoonicorn is going against is, and seeing like they seem scrambled i now understand why. you’re at a extreme disadvantage and it’s kinda lame how much they keep a secret and how much prep time they get meanwhile you get 20 mins to get your car running in a whole different atmosphere, dusty ass roads, no prep. it kinda makes their races just seem disappointing now. i appreciate this perspective and that MR2 is still extremely impressive even for what it did out there
Yeah if the MR2 was fully prepped and on a real track the hoonicorn would get absolutely smoked. And if I can recall, there was an episode they did where they raced an actual drag car with nearly twice the horsepower as the hoonicorn, but it lost as well because of the shitty road conditions and little to no prep time Edit: just checked the vid again. It was a drag Corvette with 4,000 hp and still lost
yeah i love hoonigan but fairness isnt even on there radar i guarantee you on there video they dont explain that kylie is running almost half the boost kinda disappointing on there part and not to mention blindsiding kylie with lia shes awesome and going places but if he came out there and lost to ken at least he lost to what is probably a legend to him vs putting him in a unfair race against his daughter kinda salt in the wound imo

From Ebay turbos in your garage to lining up with the Hoonicorn V2 and little Block as pilot, can't beat that with a stick!! It's heartbreaking to see Ken in this knowing that he is no longer with us though, and I cant imagine how his team and daughter must feel.

The Hoonicorn would spit all its driveline guts on the drag strip. It allready broke a driveshaft on an unprepped surface. I think thats the reason they are not on a dragstrip but a dusty runway.

Car did really well Kyle. When you consider how much weight you've removed from the rear for the track, because on the street some weight over the rear is good on un-prep'd surfaces, you did well to get her down the track straight and went ok considering you're no where near normal power levels

Kyle I went out there with my 80 malibu wagon on a 9" slick and raced the 765 mclaren. It is such a terrible surface it is like trying to race on a blacktop parking lot. AWD dominates that show. The hoonicorn is sick though! Glad you had fun it was a dream for me too.

Hoonigan needs to stop inviting out drag cars, the sandy unprepared surface doesn’t allow for drag cars to put down any power. The Hoonicorn wouldn’t last a chance on a prepared surface

A few things people need to notice about the hoonicorn vs world vids- hoonicorn always gets right lane, right lane aways has A LOT of rubber left from burnouts while left lane is always rubber free or nearly so (where's that fresh rubber in right lane coming from). Right lane is suspiciously WAY cleaner than left while left is always dusty, and that with wind being from right to left so right lane should be duster if anything (flags at starting line give away wind). When challengers start negotiating for the hit etc on round two they're never given the option of a lane change which is pretty much standard at ANY track - round two of a grudge match its common will see cars swap lanes to compensate for lane quality. 🤔 makes a feller say hmmmm
yeah, they can't have the hooni lose to a "garage built" MR2 or other vehicles. plus to have the 14 year old drive seems a slight disappointment. plus the MR2 is definitely built for specific tracks, while hooni is built for street digs.
thats also true the track was hella dusty from left to right. and all that practising the hoonicorn gets for launching and then for data for tuning. it deffo has all the rubber in one lane.

To be clear I believe the hoonicorn stomps at no prep although there are cars out there that haven't raced it yet that would win. They say they won't race on prepped because it would break but we all know there are tires an AWD can use on prep that would slip enough to keep it from breaking

The Hoonicorn challenge is designed for them to win. They get to fine tune their car and already know what to expect let alone being all wheel drive on a no prep. They should be doing this on a drag strip that is prepped. I get it's supposed to be "street racing" but on a track even the Hoonicorn will have a advantage but there wouldn't be any excuses by any party who wins, wins. Kyle you got to build the van with some wide tires for this no prep and walk them. It's game on...

From Ebay turbos in your garage to lining up with the Hoonicorn V2 and little Block as pilot, can't beat that with a stick!! It's heartbreaking to see Ken in this knowing that he is no longer with us though, and I cant imagine how his team and daughter must feel.
Started from the bottom now we here!!!! So sick to see everything come full circle with this car. From a old crappy MR2 making barely 300 HP to now racing one of the most iconic cars ever. So proud of yall and happy to say ive been here for the whole ride!

It's cool to be able to line them up but they have a massive advantage. Line them up at a drag strip and it a whole new ball game
The Hoonicorn would spit all its driveline guts on the drag strip. It allready broke a driveshaft on an unprepped surface. I think thats the reason they are not on a dragstrip but a dusty runway.

Feels like a few months ago I was watching you and your boys build the red hatch, and remember when you first picked up the MR2 and it kept breaking down you've done so well and stayed so humble keep up the good work kyle
Car did really well Kyle. When you consider how much weight you've removed from the rear for the track, because on the street some weight over the rear is good on un-prep'd surfaces, you did well to get her down the track straight and went ok considering you're no where near normal power levels

Kyle I went out there with my 80 malibu wagon on a 9" slick and raced the 765 mclaren. It is such a terrible surface it is like trying to race on a blacktop parking lot. AWD dominates that show. The hoonicorn is sick though! Glad you had fun it was a dream for me too.

Hoonigan needs to stop inviting out drag cars, the sandy unprepared surface doesn’t allow for drag cars to put down any power. The Hoonicorn wouldn’t last a chance on a prepared surface

A few things people need to notice about the hoonicorn vs world vids- hoonicorn always gets right lane, right lane aways has A LOT of rubber left from burnouts while left lane is always rubber free or nearly so (where's that fresh rubber in right lane coming from). Right lane is suspiciously WAY cleaner than left while left is always dusty, and that with wind being from right to left so right lane should be duster if anything (flags at starting line give away wind). When challengers start negotiating for the hit etc on round two they're never given the option of a lane change which is pretty much standard at ANY track - round two of a grudge match its common will see cars swap lanes to compensate for lane quality. 🤔 makes a feller say hmmmm
yeah, they can't have the hooni lose to a "garage built" MR2 or other vehicles. plus to have the 14 year old drive seems a slight disappointment. plus the MR2 is definitely built for specific tracks, while hooni is built for street digs.
thats also true the track was hella dusty from left to right. and all that practising the hoonicorn gets for launching and then for data for tuning. it deffo has all the rubber in one lane.

To be clear I believe the hoonicorn stomps at no prep although there are cars out there that haven't raced it yet that would win. They say they won't race on prepped because it would break but we all know there are tires an AWD can use on prep that would slip enough to keep it from breaking

The Hoonicorn challenge is designed for them to win. They get to fine tune their car and already know what to expect let alone being all wheel drive on a no prep. They should be doing this on a drag strip that is prepped. I get it's supposed to be "street racing" but on a track even the Hoonicorn will have a advantage but there wouldn't be any excuses by any party who wins, wins. Kyle you got to build the van with some wide tires for this no prep and walk them. It's game on...
