"It's not like I have anywhere else to go. You probably don't either." Finally catching up on one's WatchLater playlist while in lockdown, this line hit hard.
I thought this was a great video! I especially liked the savage jab Norm delivered at the end, as well as the ending bit with Frank. I was surprised to see Ian was feeling well enough to do the footrace segment, as I haven't been keeping up on him on the CUPodcast. I always wondered what the big deal was with Stadium Events being such a sought after game. Great video, keep it up!
I'm not a collector nor will I ever be, but I love the information in these shows. I also love the podcast just simply for the information. Takes me back!
pat in the suit at the end 🤣 _Believe it or not, I'm walking on air. I never thought I could feel so free- Flying away on a wing and a prayer. Who could it be? Believe it or not it's just me_
That was beautiful. I was dying at the end. Also, that's long been one of my favorite Gaming Historian videos. I really love his long, in depth videos... but sometimes you want the WAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM. Ya know what I mean?
I remember getting BreakThru! by Data East once when I ordered the unrelated SNES game of the same title (one of Alexei Pajhitnov's many other puzzle games that didn't have the same impact as his landmark creation). No problem though as I was able to get it swapped.
Gamer Going Grey Mr. Phillips? I'm still gutted I didn't win -Mountain Bicycle with Helmet- or -The Exclusive Nintendo Power Jersey-. Your modeling made them look like so much fun! Lol. You should be on Pat's Not So Common Podcast! That would be fun!
Pat’s not wrong about how Stadium Events being less rare in Europe or PAL format. The average price for stadium events here in EU is around €400 on average while the real rare one goes currently for around $9500.
My parents bought me and my brother the nes power set and it came with the power pad and world class track meet . My dad was stoked on the pad and it was why they got the system for us , so I guess marketing it as a pack in title was smart. We played it quite a bit though . It was a pretty fun game.
I have that Official Nintendo Player's Guide. But as curious as the Stadium Events spot in the book is, have you seen in the "Coming Attractions" section near the back of the book where a title is mentioned as "coming soon", called Return of Donkey Kong? The spot seems to suggest that you could play as DK himself. Never heard of an NES title where you could play as DK, and DK Jr. don't count :) Wonder what happened there?
I think I remember that article about stadium events. Because I was interested in those NES controller overlays...hence why I bought them back then. I've lost the little pegs, but still have the overlays.
Good to see an nes punk vid. Don't understand the dislikes. Hopefully you find time to do some punk vids more often but your podcasts give me a good fix on a regular basis.
I had stadium events when i was a kid. it was on the mario duck hunt cartridge though. it was a 3 for one game. i never remember seeing any cartridges of stadium events by itself.
I had very low expectations for a video about a stupid rare running game from 30 years ago. But the way Pat went into detail about all the marketing stuff and speculation on everything actually made it interesting since a good mystery always draws me in. Also the ending the hilarious! So great job with this vid Pat!
Obviously because he said “gleamed” instead of glean, much as I did regularly until recently. Apparently, to gleam has no such figurative meaning. The question becomes: who do we blame?
Because Pat forgot to mention a certain NES Guidebook that may or may not be available for purchase on amazon and might also make a great gift for your family and loved ones
I remember World Class Track and Meet and Dance Aerobics being sold here in Brazil alongside the Power Pad. The super late release of the NES around here caused some of these oddities, like Duckatales 2 being much more common than the first one around here (I myself never saw a Duckatales 1 around here but had already 3 copies of Ducktales 2).
Thanks to those who helped contribute to the story, and of course The Gaming Historian!

Norm’s cameo made me LOL! Great video Pat!
Seriously, that cracked me up
Extrazero Norm said “Horseshit”!!
IKR? I can't believe he got him to swear. Awesome.
The gaming historian video says all you need to know
Almost 4 years later, this video still makes me smile. I love ya Pat, and Frank (and Ian too, of course).
“That wasn’t glory, Frank! You were running from the cops!” Haha!
i've never laughed as hard in my life as i just did at norms part
vintagevideogamegeek *shrugs* I thought it was pretty funny
vintagevideogamegeek I’m going to take a wild fucking guess and assume he found it funny! How about that mind blowing idea?
LOL, same here....
I'm sorry to hear that.
vintagevideogamegeek fuck that it was hilarious
"It's not like I have anywhere else to go. You probably don't either."

"Where's the finish line?"- Pat
- Frank throws game into the distance -
"The Value!"- Ian
"The value"
Best Gaming Historian episode ever
I like how you could tell he was about to start laughing.
Incidently, his videos these days are almost as short
"The value" joke is the best thing i have heard in a last eight years.
i'm sorry
Yes!! A new Punk video! I’ve heard tales of its existence in podcasts, but have failed to believe it until now!!
Also Norm’s cameo is PRICELESS.
Ha, about 3 yrs ago I suggested a video where you & Ian compete in an obstacle with Frank as a trash talking Ref. Nice to see it come to life.
gee what next suggesting i wrestle 8-bit eric for a toploader? badum tss...yea i got nothin...
I'd rather have the case of sierra nevada.
I'll take the cash value, and then buy some Sierra Nevada! ;)
make it Celebration or Sidecar and we got a deal
ditto
Those Norm cameo's are priceless!
My god a new NES Punk review? Have the planets aligned?! Best early Christmas present Pat!
Loved Norm’s unexpected sarcasm and of course Frank’s lines are hilarious!
By far my favorite Pat The Nes Punk Video to date!! Great Job Pat, Frank, Ian, and Norm!!!
I thought this was a great video! I especially liked the savage jab Norm delivered at the end, as well as the ending bit with Frank. I was surprised to see Ian was feeling well enough to do the footrace segment, as I haven't been keeping up on him on the CUPodcast. The value! NERDS! Haha
More valuable than your whole life
Congrats on getting Stadium Events finally!
"THE VALUE!" gets me every time :DD
I love the shameless plug for Norm! This is great Pat!
This was the best one yet Pat, love the end
"The Value." Ian's acting = Priceless.
That was beautiful. I was dying at the end.
Also, that's long been one of my favorite Gaming Historian videos. I really love his long, in depth videos... but sometimes you want the WAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM. Ya know what I mean?
"THE VALUE" i can't stop laughing. Thanks Pat and Ian! Happy holidays!
You said, "Stadium Events" 900 times.
No he says Stayeumm events
The Gaming Historian bit made me laugh. I don't know what all the stuff is. Is it a game? Is it fabric? Whaaaaaaat??
I remember getting BreakThru! by Data East once when I ordered the unrelated SNES game of the same title (one of Alexei Pajhitnov's many other puzzle games that didn't have the same impact as his landmark creation). No problem though as I was able to get it swapped.
Hearing Norm swear made my day. Thank you!
Holy crap! I have edits in a Pat the NES Punk video (via the small TVGY clip). Awesome!
Skywalker1138 No no no. Not him. But I did edit his footage into The Video Game Years (NES segment) which Pat used in the video as b roll.
Pat the NES Punk - I remember seeing both Print ads and actual Physical copies of Stadium Events back when SEARS sold Mail Order Videogames.
Pat’s not wrong about how Stadium Events being less rare in Europe or PAL format.
The average price for stadium events here in EU is around €400 on average while the real rare one goes currently for around $9500.
Norm “hi there” Caruso popping up everywhere
Such a great informative video and yet so many dislikes? Why is that?
Guess they hated the usual Pat humour / jokes, which do kinda suck (but in a good way :D). But this video didnt contain a lot of that.
Must be guests of Pats favorite website.
Ohh wow. I’m surprised you put together that many syllables there buddy.
JG L Low quality bait
Oh my god that Norm cameo was amazing.
@vintagevideogamegeek
No Shit!! What's so great about it. . All these retro game enthusiasts are so pretentious.
Pat... Your videos on Nintendo are still the best on the internet...Thank you for this Christmas gift...
A new Pat the Nes Punk video? It's a Christmas miracle!
Just imagine if Konami developed and released Dance Dance Revolution back in the 80's along with that Power Pad.
Yay new Pat the NES Punk! It's been a while.
fun fact pat and ian fighting over the cartridge represents nintendoage's website also wheres roman with stacks of sealed stadium events
I could listen to informative retro game information all day.
My Toys R Us shot from Horseheads, NY at 13:44. Much appreciated! (I was your last certain NES Guide buyer in CT Retro Convention).
Great job Pat! Thanks for adding a PaT The N E S Punk video every once in a while.
Really great video with the most in depth look at Stadium Events I've ever seen. I definitely learned a lot watching this. The end was awesome too.
My parents bought me and my brother the nes power set and it came with the power pad and world class track meet . My dad was stoked on the pad and it was why they got the system for us , so I guess marketing it as a pack in title was smart. We played it quite a bit though . It was a pretty fun game.
That cameo sure took an unexpected turn.
"THE VALUE!" hahahaha
Top notch break down of the Stadium Events story, Pat, which will, no doubt, be used as source material for future discussions of the subject.
God I remember seeing so many copies of this game back in the day.
I got that mat a estate sale for 6 bucks like 3 years ago Glad you made this video because at the time i could not really find any info on it.
One of the best episodes so far in my opinion Pat! Very informative and funny!
you could really feel the sexual tension during that ending with pat and ian rolling on the grass
Norm swearing got me I laughed so hard I had to pause the video
That super controller add on with joy stick looked awesome I've never heard of that add on before.
Great video!
I have never seen tgis game in the wild, only seen US and PAL copies on Ebay about 5 years ago. Great video Pat.
pat isn't an elite retro collector
Thank god. Those people are the fucking worst.
The Gaming Historian cameo was awesome, love that fucking guy
I have that Official Nintendo Player's Guide. But as curious as the Stadium Events spot in the book is, have you seen in the

Not much info exists on that Donkey Kong game - maybe it never got far into development?
Thanks for the reply. I would have loved to have seen a playable DK back then on the NES.
Great video as always, Pat. I hope you have more time soon to do more Pat the NES Punk videos. ❤
My friend had this game. I remember running on the pad. It was probably world class track meet that was grouped with mario and duck hunt
Great job Pat!
I think I remember that article about stadium events. Because I was interested in those NES controller overlays...hence why I bought them back then. I've lost the little pegs, but still have the overlays.
I haven't laughed this hard at a video in a long time. Whatever magic there was in early UA-cam gaming videos, Pat's still got it.
Good to see an nes punk vid. Don't understand the dislikes. Hopefully you find time to do some punk vids more often but your podcasts give me a good fix on a regular basis.
So much great in-depth research. Really enjoyed this video a lot.
"I'm worthless as a person!"
Caught myself nodding yes.. sorry Pat.
This was one of your best episodes.
I have been waiting for this for so long!
I played this in 87 at my friends. I remember it very well!
Dude I miss this type of videos keep them coming great job
I had stadium events when i was a kid. it was on the mario duck hunt cartridge though. it was a 3 for one game. i never remember seeing any cartridges of stadium events by itself.
LOL! That was great! Glad to see another NES Punk video, Happy Holidays Pat! Hope you and the rest of the crew spend them well.
I had very low expectations for a video about a stupid rare running game from 30 years ago. But the way Pat went into detail about all the marketing stuff and speculation on everything actually made it interesting since a good mystery always draws me in. Also the ending the hilarious! So great job with this vid Pat!
Thank you Pat. What an amazing video. Please keep up the Punk episodes. :)
I love the in depth research done. Nice job Pat!
Dang this might be my favorite Pat video! Every part was funny and interesting! Great job
I'm glad I stuck it out till the end. I got bored halfway through the video, but I loved the ending.
Why the dislikes?
Obviously because he said “gleamed” instead of glean, much as I did regularly until recently.

Because Pat forgot to mention a certain NES Guidebook that may or may not be available for purchase on amazon and might also make a great gift for your family and loved ones
Because they are a bunch of Scrooge asshats!!
Because the Stadium Events copy wasn't SEEEEEEEALED
NintendoAge
Fuck, I could listen all day to you talking about obscure games and the why of their hows
One of your best videos yet Pat!
I scared my cat with laughter after Norms cameo... Awesome video Pat
Thank you Pat! I'm so sick, this made my day.
That outro was amazing, Norm's really funny -
What a great episode - love seeing Ian and Frank!
"The Value!" I lol'd
The gaming historian's cameo was way too funny, and your reaction was perfect. I'm 2 minutes in and I'm already crying with laughter. Great work!
God, new NES Punk episodes are fucking rare as balls.
Frank's such a badass, dude even had a NWC cart.
I liked The Game Historian cameo a lot, it was short but funny, I laughed as crazy when he said "horseshit" LOL
Pat this is your best video by far. Thank you for this.
The Norm cameo was fantastic.
I love Norman, grew up with him.
GREAT VIDEO. 😬 Loved the gaming historian cameo.
Ohhhhh I've missed your videos like this Pat. Love it, really do!
The ending was unexpected aswell! FRANK!?? awesome!
